Abstract

Abstract This research is designed to analyze students’ error on essay writing organization. The writers focus on the one category of error identifications that is organization. By conducting this research, the writers hope some development of students’ ability in arranging essay. By analazing the erros, students get feed back to develop their ability. This study was conducted descriptively and qualitatively in nature. It is designed to identify and to describe kinds of errors is made by the student in essay writing organization in the EFL classroom. To achieve the goal, the writers describe in detail all the data taken from the students’ works and interpreted to make an empirical generalization. This research was conducted in second grade of English department in one of the university in Cirebon. The writers use purposive random sampling. The result of findings show that 16 students stand in scale 3 which is equal with 64 %. Then, 7 students stand in scale 4 which is equal with 28 %. And the last, 2 students stand in scale 2 which is equal with 8 %. So that, the writer concluded that the students of second grade of UNSWAGATI Cirebon are adequate to fair on essay writing organization. Key words: error, writing, essay organization

Abstract

The result of this study may add to the research literature refrences and add insight to the reader about the image women with the feminism literature review.This research is expected to give contribution to this language teaching using novel as the authentic media, particularly in teaching reading. Novel is narrative text informing of prose with a long shape that including some figures and fiction event. In this case, the study attempted to analyze text about Cultural feminism tht contains in the novel. The text analyzed is a novel entitled The Bookseller of Kabul written by Asne Seierstad, a Norway journalist who spent four months to write the novel after reporting civil war in Afghanistan. This novel mostly describes the portrayal of women in the context of gender relation in Afghanistan after the fall of Taliban, around 2001s. Keywords: novel, instrinsic, character

Abstract

Abstract This research was aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using visual scaffolding strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of junior high school. The design of this study was a quasi experimental study. The subjects were the students of state junior high schools in Cirebon, Indonesia. The data were obtained by administering reading test and from observation as a supporting data analysis. The data of the test were analyzed by using t-test formula to know the difference of the students’ comprehension in reading narrative text between two groups. Meanwhile the result of the observation was analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that there was a significant difference on students’ learning result before and after Visual Scaffolding applied. Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether Learning Cell Technique can enhance students reading comprehension or not and to find out the improvement of each indicator of students’ acheivement. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research. The subject of this research is the first year students of English Department of Unswagati Cirebon. The population of this research is 200 students and the sample of this research is 44 students. The technique of colecting the data used test and analyzed by using T-test of non-independent. This research was conducted only one cycle and will be continued to the next cycle. Based on the result of this research shows that (1) Learning Cell technique could enhance students’ reading comprehension but it was still not significant in the first cycle, the result of Towas 1.789 and ttis 2.015. (2) Learning Cell technique can enhance students’ reading comprehension for two indicators and two other indicators was still no enhancement.Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that Learning Cell technique can enhance the students’ reading comprehension. Abstract

In this research, the writer analyzed the culture in the English textbook entitled “When English Rings a Bell for VIII Grade Junior High School (SMP/ MTS)” written by Siti Wachidah et al published by Ministry of Education and Culture. The research was conducted to find out what are the cultures shown on the English textbook. The writer tried to analyze the four categories of culture that stated by Patrriick Morran in the reading material on the English textbook. She wrote a paper entitled “AN ANALYSIS OF CULTURE ON READING MATERIAL TEXTBOOK AT THE SECOND GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN SMPN 10 CIREBON”. Textbook is the important thing in teaching and learning process (Tomlison, 1999:2). The textbook is for students that make 2013 curriculum in their school. Relying on this, the present study, how culture disseminated in he textbook. The data for this study are collected from an English textbook for second grade of junior high school. The data for the study are in the form of structural an the reading text passages. The structure is categorized and analyzed based on the framework culture four categorized proposed by Patrick Moran . The sample of this study analyzed trough the reading material on the first semester. This study use qualitative method. This study conducted at reading material on the first semester. Further, the reading material on the English textbook include used almost Indonesian culture. Further, the structural of textbook culture is Indonesian culture. The reading material also almost using Inodonesian culture. The textbook is easy to use because the textbook was familiar by students own culture, it presented names, action, places and characters of Indonesian culture. Keyword: textbook, culture.

Abstract

Abstract This is experimental research with quantitative approach to analyse the data. Quasi experimental is used to gain the data by using the matching only pretest – postest control group design.Tne main ptirpose of tnis researcn was intended to find out whether reciprocal teaching strategy in teaching reading for the eighth grade at SMPN 10 Kota Cirebon is effective or not and what the students’ response in learning reading using reciprocal teaching strategy are. In this research. The population of this research was eighth grade students of SMPN 10 Kota Cirebon in the 2015/2016 academic year. The number population is about 270 students consisted of nine classes and each class consisted of 25 – 30 students. This research only took two classes as sample, VIII H as control class and VIII I as experimental class. There were two research instruments that was used to gather the data: Test (Pre-test and Post-test) was used to find out the students’s achievement in reading before and after teaching reading by using reciprocal teaching strategy and questionnaire was used to find out the students’ response about learning reading using reciprocal teaching strategy. After collecting the data, the data was analyzed by using t-test formula from fraenkel to find out t-account. The result of the test showed that t-account was 4.47 and t-table was 2.012 with (df) 48 and significant level 0.05 (5%). It means that t-account (4.47) is higher than t-table (2.021). It can be concluded that (Ha) “Reciprocal teaching strategyis effectivein teaching reading for the eighth grade at SMPN 10 Kota Cirebon.” is accepted.
