Abstract

The in vitro biodegradation testing of plastic of the mixture of polystyrene (PS) and poly (3-hydroxybutirate-co-3-hydroxyvalerat) [P(3HB-ko-3HV)] in soil has been carried out. Plastic film was produced by using blending technique and followed by solved casting at various composition. The biodegradation testing was conduted by using soil burial method. Rseult showed that the increasing of component [P(3HB-ko-3HV)] in the mixture of plastic film was also increase the biodegradation rate of plastic film in the soil. At the composition 100:0, 95:5, 90:10 and 85:15 of plastic film in 5 weeks burial was found weigh remaining of plastic were of 99.67; 95.71; 95.03; 94.13% w/w respectively. It is also observed that the amount of bacteria in the soil were of 2.57 x 106 colonies/g.

Abstract

Our study aimed at evaluating Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) among chronic kidney disease patients at the End-Stage Renal Failure (ESRF) secondary to Diabetes Mellitus. Retrospective cross-sectional study was used as the method of this study..Naranjo Scale was used to observe ADRs among  patients. Statistical analysis was done using statistical package of social sciences (SPSS 17®). Ethical clearance was done with respective clinical research committee. Study findings presents from 200 patients, 5.5% have probable, 15% possible and 79.5% doubtful ADRs. Hypoglycemia (2.5%) had the highest number of probable ADR. Insulin (1.5%) and gliclazid (1%) were the major cause of probable ADRs. Analysis showed significant correlation (sig.<0.05) between age and ESRF secondary to diabetes mellitus. Patient with ESRF secondary to diabetes mellitus above 55 years are tend to have ADRs. Analysis also showed no significant correlation (sig.>0.05) between adverse drug reactions and ESRF patients secondary to diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Screening of glucoamylase enzyme producing fungi obtained from sago dregs soil at Tapakis district of Padang Pariaman have been done. The screening was conducted by incubating of sample on Potato Dextrose Agar media previously added with starch 1% as an inducer. Incubation was performed during 120 hours at temperature of 20-250C. The existence of glucoamylase enzyme producing fungi were indicated with the disappearance of lugol indicator solution colour around the colonies. It was found that there were 2 isolates of fungi which produced glucoamylase. Following identification, it could be concluded that isolates were Aspergillus sp. and Penicillium sp.

Abstract

A Study on the isolation and qualitative test  of cellulose producer fungus from waste product soil of Saccharum officinarum in Tabek Patah West Sumatera has been done by using  Czapek Dox Agar (CDA) selective media. The selulolitic ability test of this isolated fungus by giving the congo red solution on the surface of medium that was enriched with Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, the formed of transparent area around the colonies showed that the fungus has the capability to decomposed the cellulose. The hydrolitic enzyme in glucose form was analyed using Fehling solution and Thin Layer Chromatograph. The result from this research showed that the sample consist of two species of decomposed cellulose fungus Aspergillus terreus Thom and Rhizopus sp.

Abstract

The degradation of a plastic film containing polymer synthetic polystyrene (PS) and biopolymer poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] in soil has been carried out based on soil burial test. Result showed that the amount of P(3HB) in plastic film containing PS and P(3HB) influence the degradation rate of plastic film. Rate degradation measured use linear regression equality and parameter is indicated by the slope (k), degradation time 50% (t 50%), and degradation time 95% (t 95%). Degradation plastic film which occurred in soil with ratio PS/P(3HB) 85:15 was k = 0.90 %/week, t 50% = 55.13 weeks and t 95% = 105.29 weeks, followed by PS/P(3HB) 90:10 and PS/P(3HB) 95:15. In contrast, plastic film which made from pure PS (100:0) occurred slow with slope value (k) = 0.14 %/week, t 50% = 345.07 weeks, and t 95% = 655.63 weeks. Result of SEM test showed that damage occurred and erosion at surface of plastic film as long as observation time in various environment condition.

Abstract

It has been tested the influence of pH, the influence of microemulsion types and the influence of storage temperature on the stability of natrii ascorbyl phosphate (which is often known as Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate/SAP) and analysis using HPLC method. Kinetics test carried out by dissolving the SAP in a buffer solution with different pH, namely: 4.5: 5.5: 6.5 and 7.5 at a temperature of 300C and 400C. SAP decomposes according to first-order kinetics (y = -0.0027 x - 3.5224 and r = 0.9546, price the value of k = 6.2181 x 10-3 per minute) with a slow rate of decomposition at pH 6.5. Furthermore, SAP isformulated in the preparation of microemulsion type of M/A and A/M with anoptimum pH conditions for SAP, then tested the stability of SAP with SAP store at  temperatures 300C and 400C for one week. The remaining levels of SAP werecalculated and analyzed by one-way T-tested method. Showed that the type of chemical stability of microemulsions affect SAP which is morestable in the microemulsion type of M/A.

Abstract

AIDS adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh infeksi dengan virus yang disebut Human Immunodeviciency Virus (HIV). Salah satu langkah penting menanggulangi HIV/AIDS adalah dengan meningkatkan kepatuhan ODHA yang minum obat ARV. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kepatuhan pasien HIV/AIDS terhadap terapi antiretroviral di Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Dr. M. Djamil Padang pada bulan Desember 2011-Maret 2012. Design penelitian ini adalah cross-sectional dengan 55 orang sampel yang diperoleh secara Propotional Random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui kuisioner dan wawancara langsung terhadap pasien. Analisis data dilakukan secara bertahap mencakup analisis univariat, analisis bivariat menggunakan uji chi-square, dan analisis multivariat menggunakan uji regresi logistik berganda metode Backward Wald pada pogram SPSS Version 15.0. Hasil penelitian ini menginformasikan bahwa ada tiga variabel yang paling signifikan terhadap kepatuhan pasien HIV/AIDS, dengan faktor pengetahuan pasien menjadi faktor paling dominan (Wald = 6,833 ; OR = 9,003; Cl 95% = 1,733 - 46,770), dibandingkan dua faktor lain yaitu tingkat pendidikan (Wald = 4,369 ; OR = 6,732; Cl 95% = 1,126 – 40,238) dan Beck Deppresion Inventory (BDI) (Wald = 5,491 ; OR = 7,760; Cl 95% = 1,398 – 43,069).

Abstract

It has been research about formulation diclofenac sodium that used Eudragit L100. To prepare, using emulsification-solvent evaporation technique, diclofenac sodium-Eudragit L100 microparticles with modified drug sustained release properties and span 80 is emulgator. Methode research is microcapsules were prepared by solvent evaporation method with ratio diclofenac sodium-Eudragit L100 (1:1,125;1:1,25;1:1,5;1:1,75) and characterized by micromeritics, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), dissolution test using USP apparatus 1 and drug Embadment Efficiency. The result is the microparticle were whitish, irregular, aggregated, and in the size range of 100 – 160 µm size. Drug embedment efficiency was 53,7% - 66,3 %. Characterisation studies indicate that there was no chemical interaction between the drug and the polymer in the microparticles. In Dissolution profile ratio diclofenac sodium and Eudragit L100 can slowly drug release were after 450 minute released diclofenac sodium > 50%. Conclusion: Emulsification-solvent evaporation technique is a suitable method for preparing diclofenac sodium-Eudragit L100 multi-unit controlled release drug delivery system.

Abstract

A Study has been done on the effect correlation effect of particle size on solubilization of metronidazol using brij 35 in water solvent. Surface tension method using Torsion Balance Type OS White. Inst. Co. Ltd and refraction method using Refractometer ABBE were done for determination of CMC (Critical Micelle Concentration) values of surfactans with Brij 35. Size of metronidazol particle was reduced by milling process with various duration 0 hour, 1 hour, 6 hours and 12 hours using Ball Mills “The Pascall Engineering”. Result showed that concentration of metronidazol in solubilization was 11,0888 mg/ml, 10,6470 mg/ml, 10,4431 mg/ml and 10,0890 mg/ml respectively at various milling period of 1 hour, 6 hour, 12 hour and without milling. Metronidazol after milling for 1 hour showed better solubilization than without milling with further. The Solubilization of metronidazol decreased with an increase in milling time. The Results at various time of milling process of 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours and without miliing. Process found the solubilization of metronidazol concentration were 11,0888 mg/ml, 10,6470 mg/ml, 10,4431 mg/ml and 10,0890 mg/ml. Keywords : Solubilization, Metronidazol, Brij 35, milling
