Abstract

Our study aimed at evaluating Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) among chronic kidney disease patients at the End-Stage Renal Failure (ESRF) secondary to Diabetes Mellitus. Retrospective cross-sectional study was used as the method of this study..Naranjo Scale was used to observe ADRs among patients. Statistical analysis was done using statistical package of social sciences (SPSS 17®). Ethical clearance was done with respective clinical research committee. Study findings presents from 200 patients, 5.5% have probable, 15% possible and 79.5% doubtful ADRs. Hypoglycemia (2.5%) had the highest number of probable ADR. Insulin (1.5%) and gliclazid (1%) were the major cause of probable ADRs. Analysis showed significant correlation (sig.<0.05) between age and ESRF secondary to diabetes mellitus. Patient with ESRF secondary to diabetes mellitus above 55 years are tend to have ADRs. Analysis also showed no significant correlation (sig.>0.05) between adverse drug reactions and ESRF patients secondary to diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Purity and stability evaluation post-production of labelled compound 153SmCl3 with EDTMP have been studied. Purity evaluation of 153SmCl3 and 153Sm-EDTMP were conducted using thin layer chromatographic principle on Whatman No.1. Stability evaluation of 153SmCl3 and 153Sm-EDTMP were conducted using visual observation on color and pH changes. Table showes that purity of 153Sm-EDTMP was ± 98- 99 %. It means ± 1-2 % rest was free 153Sm+3 which is left on drop point chromatographic paper. Table also describes t-student analyses that t (-0.545) < t table (2.306). It means storage time did not affect the purity of 153Sm-EDTMP.

Abstract

Our study aimed at evaluating sociodemographic value between diabetes mellitus and hypertension as the main cause of end-stage renal failure. Retrospective cross-sectional study was used as the research method. Two hundred end-stage renal failure patient records at 2010 were used to evaluate this study. Statistical analysis was done using statistical package of social sciences (SPSS 17®). Ethical clearance was issued by respective clinical research committee. Sociodemographic factors included gender, age, race, education and lifestyle. Results showed that from 200 end-stage renal failure patients there were 1% secondary to diabetes mellitus, 26.5% secondary to hypertension and 44% secondary to diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Case of end-stage renal failure in male secondary to diabetes mellitus (39%) was higher than hypertension (23.5%). End-stage renal failure secondary to diabetes mellitus was higher than hypertension (14%) in female. 33.5% patients were smokers, 22% were end-stage renal failure secondary to diabetes mellitus and the rest were secondary to hypertension. Statistical analysis showed no significant correlation (sig.>0.05) between lifestyle and end-stage renal failure secondary to diabetes mellitus and hypertension.

Abstract

Indonesia is experiencing health problems in adolescents, namely the high rate of malnutrition and anaemia in adolescents in Indonesia. Another impact from the Covid-19 pandemic also affects the consumption and immunity of teenagers. Consumption and body immunity are factors that can affect nutritional status. The Covid-19 pandemic changes eating patterns, as well as inhibits and reduces the movement or physical activity of adolescents. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out balanced nutrition education, vaccines, and the application of health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. This community service aimed to educate students about balanced nutrition, vaccines, and the application of health protocols to adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic using leaflets and posters to students at SMP PERTIWI 2 Padang. The method to see respondents' knowledge level was carried out pre-test and post-test on balanced nutrition education, vaccines and the application of health protocols for adolescents at SMP PERTIWI 2 Padang used a questionnaire with 20 questions. This service showed that the respondents' knowledge increased by 11.4%, 80%, in the pre-test to 91.4% in the post-test. This activity can be continued in collaboration with SMP PERTIWI 2 Padang by monitoring nutritional status and product development for teenagers at SMP PERTIWI 2 Padang.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease with long-term treatment. According to World Health Organization (WHO) data, only 36.8% of hypertensive patients take hypertension medication properly. Adherence is the most common problem in the treatment of hypertension. This adherence can be improved by providing counseling regarding the use of medicine boxes as a tool that can increase patient compliance in taking medicine. This community service activity aims to improve medication adherence in hypertension patients in Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City. The counseling session was held among 35 participants. Based on sociodemographic data, it was found that there were differences in the number of female and male participants (80%: 20%), as well as the level of education and type of work (unemployment 94%) . Therefore, community service is expected to improve medication adherence in hypertensive patients (>80%). If medication adherence has increased, it is hoped that the incidence of hypertension can be reduced.

Abstract

Abstract

Non-adherence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in treatment will impact expected clinical outcomes, risk of complications, and poor quality of life. Home medication review (HMR) is designed to help achieve optimal treatment, such as patient adherence. This study aimed to determine adherence levels and T2DM blood sugar management. This study with a pretest-posttest control group design was carried out at Andalas Public Health Center, Padang City, West Sumatra-Indonesia with 62 randomly selected respondents and then divided into two groups (pillbox and non-pillbox). The adherence levels were assessed by the pill count method. Changes in blood sugar levels are associated with adherence levels. The results showed an increase in the T2DM adherence level of patients using the pillbox at 7.360% and a decrease in blood sugar levels in those who used the pillbox at 61.161 mg/dL. There was a significant difference in the adherence between patients' levels using the pillbox and non-pillbox with a value of 0.011 (p <0.05). Similarly, the patient's blood sugar levels between the two groups showed a significant difference with a value of 0.007 (p<0.05). The application of HMR to patient adherence is considered to have a role in managing T2DM blood sugar.
