Media literacy in the digital era has become important. Various layers of society need to understand the importance of digital media literacy. Research subjects were housewives in the Sleman area of Yogyakarta. Research subjects so far have not understood how to intelligently consume media. Media content worries that most of them are negative which can anesthetize the audience. The biggest content from media is entertainment. The media prioritizes entertainment programs that pay less attention to the ethics and norms of society. They don't care about the negative impact of the content displayed. Thus it is necessary to cultivate the media literacy movement for housewives. The method used is content analysis, literature study, in-depth interviews, observation, and FGD. The results of the study show that housewives after being given training, socialization, and FGD on digital media literacy became aware of the importance of digital media literacy. Then they continuously convey to the family and the environment where they are. On several occasions, PKK meetings, the Qur’an recitation group, socialized the importance of digital media literacy. Finally, this digital media literacy becomes a culture especially in Maguwoharjo Village, Sleman regency, Yogyakarta. This village is a pilot village of digital media literacy culture for the surrounding environment, especially the Sleman Regency Yogyakarta.

This article based on research that tries to trace cancer patients who do not want to go to the hospital. Often we hear cancer patients come to the hospital when the condition of the disease is already at an advanced stage. So it's too late to handle. According to data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, if cancer is treated early it can prevent more than 30 percent death. This study aims to determine the problem of cancer patients' reluctance to go to the hospital in terms of socio-cultural aspects. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. Data collected by observation and in-depth interview techniques. The results showed that the reluctance of cancer patients to go to the hospital was influenced by socio-cultural aspects so it was crucial to determine the choice of treatment for cancer patients. The socio-cultural aspects are cultural knowledge about cancer, belief in traditional medicine, and the influence of relatives and other social environments such as friends and neighbors in health care choices. Relatives, neighbors, and friends recommend traditional treatment. However, with traditional medicine, there are no informants who have recovered from their illnesses. There is actually a disease that is getting worse.

Gunung Padang Site in Cianjur is a cone-shaped hill area filled with relics of the Megalithic era in the form of stone objects. Punden terraces – a place for the worship of ancestral spirits – has become a hallmark and an important cultural heritage as a part of the distinctive characteristics of the indigenous culture in Nusantara. This study aims to communicate the cultural message of the punden terraces through the visual strategy of photography with the landscape genre, the art of photography that explores the beauty of nature and sharpens the landscape. Quantitatively, this study conducted a survey to find out the attraction of the photo objects. The result showed that the majority of respondents considered the scenery on the Gunung Padang Site to be more interesting than the stone objects and the daily life of surrounding communities. Whereas qualitatively, this study discusses the elements of visual strategy using the theory of photography with visual communication semiotic approach, especially in terms of the shot sizes and the framing of visual space. Punden terraces' photographs in landscape photography are able to communicate cultural messages about human activity in the past. This, in turn, will contribute to enriching scientific references of visual communication design

The similarity of identity such as religion and ethnicity as a primordial aspect becomes a preference in choosing a leader not based on their capability. In the election of the Governor of North Sumatra in 2018, identity politics tended to strengthen in Muslim voters, especially in terms of religion, indigenous issues and natives. This practics of identity politics resulted in a victory for the couple Edy Rahmayadi-Musa Rajeckshah (Islam-Islam). The main question in this study is why identity politics is still relevant to be used by Muslim voters in the Election of Governor of North Sumatra in 2018. The study was conducted with a qualitative descriptive method, in which all data were collected through library studies and internet searching. This study concludes that Muslim voters see identity politics still relevant to use in choosing leaders because they consider Muslims have to be led by leaders who care about Islam. This understanding emerged from previous experiences in DKI Jakarta, namely the Al Maidah 51 incident by Ahok and discriminatory practices against Muslims when led by the non-Muslims and the Muslims who did not care about Islam in various regions in Indonesia

The decreased number of traditional earthenware craftsmen occurs due to three main factors: basic material, worker, and consumer. Some craftsmen instead prefer staying so that they should adapt to the existing condition. Nevertheless, in fact, some of them prefer stopping from being craftsmen now. Departing from this reality, the author tried to raise earthenware craftsmen’s adapting strategy to survive until today. The author employed a qualitative method. The phenomenological research was chosen with interview and observation being the techniques of collecting data. The result of research generally showed a variety of products produced aiming to document cultural heritage threatened to be extinct. Meanwhile, as the analysis technique, the author borrowed Julian Steward’s cultural-ecological perspective to explain the data found. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive technique of analysis. Considering the findings of the research, the craftsmen took a different surviving strategy today compared with that in the past. This change was effected by such constraints as basic material, consumer, and human resources. Julian Steward’s cultural-ecological concept seemed to be insufficient. Therefore, natural resources as the main basic material of industrial society should be understood more complexly to a more macro level.

Socio-cultural changes in the world of social media always occur because of the support of sophisticated technology that occurs to this day. One of them is the use of Instagram for millennials, including in Padang. This research is to find out how social change is and the impact that occurs on students in Padang in using Instagram. This research was conducted in Padang, using a case study approach by conducting in-depth interviews with 25 students who were active in using Instagram with a daily usage frequency of more than 12 to 24 hours. The results showed that the use of Instagram had an impact on the emergence of social and cultural changes for students in Padang. First, they do not hesitate to share excessively in self-disclosure in cyberspace. This culture certainly arises because of the presence of Instagram as one of the social media that can be accessed by anyone. Second, students are not able to provide boundaries between private space and public space, so Instagram currently also has an influence as a channel or medium in complementing relationships among themselves, and at the same time Instagram is part of the lifestyle chosen by students when communicating using sophisticated technology.
