Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the  influence of community  participation and extension strategy to  increase the community participation on the  management of the Togean Island National Park. The research was conducted  in the Togean Island National Park in Central Sulawesi on September 2011. Five variables were used to measure  the community participation using Structural Equation Model (SEM) and  LISEREL 8.30 sofware. Those variables were internal characteristics,  extension proccess,  external factors, community capacity and community participation. The results of the research showed that extension proccess have a significant effect on the community capacity.  It also showed that the community capacity has a significant effect on the community participation on management of Togean Island National Park. The strategic implementation that can be used to increase the community participation is to  improve the process of extension. This strategy should be supported by willingness of government to consistently applied the concept of collaborative management of National Park  at the local level. Key Words : Extension strategy and Participatory aproach.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze income in food crop and livestock based farming system, and to analyze factors influencing farmer’s income in Grobogan district. This research was conducted in November to December 2018 in Pulokulon District and Toroh District, Grobogan Regency. The research used survey method by direct interview with a questionnaire guide. Quota sampling was used to determine the number of samples. The number of farmer respondents as samples was 70 people selected by Snowball sampling method. The results of this research shows that there were two patterns of farming system carried out by the respondents including rice-corn-soybean-beef cattle (pattern I) and rice-corn-rice-beef cattle (pattern II). The average income of the farmers with the pattern I was IDR 16,596,380/year under a business scale of 0.32 ha, while the average income in pattern II was lower which was IDR 16,222,162/year under a business scale of 0.30 ha. Based on Independent Sample t-test there was no significant difference between the incomes in pattern I and pattern II. Both the pattern I and the pattern II had the same R/C Ratio of 1.54. The profitability was 53.91% under the pattern I and 53.74% under the pattern II. The two farming patterns are feasible because their R/C Ratio > 1 and profitability higher than bank loan interest rate. Keywords: Food Crop, Income, Livestock, Profitability, and R/C Ratio.

Abstract

The research aimed at studying the effective way of weeds control and the usage of organic fertilizer in soy cultivation at dry land. The research conducted was from July to September 2007, located in the Laboratory and Experimental Farm of Agriculture Department in Tadulako University, Palu.  The research used a Randomized Block Design with a two Factorial Experiment. The first factor was four different kinds of weeds control (P): without weeds control (p0), manual control using mowing (p1), culture control technique using mulch (p2), and chemical control using oxyfluorofen (p3).  The second factor was three levels of bokashi fertilizers (B): without bokashi (b0), 10 ton ha-1 bokashi (b1), and 20 ton ha-1 (b2).  The results of vegetation analysis 10 weeks after planting showed that 21 kinds of weeds were found consisting of 14 kinds of broad leave classes, 6 kinds of grass classes (graminae) and only a kind of sedges class (cyperaceae). The results indicated that the efficiency of the control treatment in controlling weeds was significantly lower than other treatments. The chemical treatment in controlling weeds had similar effect and efficiency as the mulch treatment.  However, the use of mulch has more advantages due to its cost and time efficiencies and environmentally friendly when applied in crop cultivation.

Abstract

Characterization of physical and chemical properties of aroma compounds from liquid smoke is a challenge because there is no satisfactory method of separation due to compound contributors generally present in a matrix at very low concentrations. This study aimed to separate and identify the components of "strong and pungent" liquid smoke aromatic compounds by adsorption using activated carbon method. The observed variables analyzed using GC-MS including yield, phenol, carbonyl, titration acidity and chemical compound profiles. The chemical components of liquid smoke found on the analysis by GC-MS were further analyzed using a molecular mechanics software to determine the polarizability, hydrophobicity and dwipol moment of each compound     in the liquid smoke fraction adsorption results. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SPSS software version 16, followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test at the level of 1% was employed especially for the yield of liquid smoke adsorption. The physico-chemical characteristics of  25 fractions of liquid smoke resulted from adsorption on activated carbon at pH 2-6 comprising of 0.53 to 3.89% phenolic; 1.09 to 2.59% carbonyl; 7.17 to 10.75% acidicity; and pH range from     2.39 to 2.91 with the color spectrum in the range of 308-415 nm. The results of the analysis using the molecular mechanics methods showed that the higher the value of polarizability and dipole moment of a compound, the more polar the compound. It is concluded that the removal of the "strong and pungent" aroma compounds on coconut shell liquid smoke in order to produce a mild scent (soft) can be performed by activated carbon adsorption method despite the results were not optimal yet. Abstract

The research aims were to: (1) identify the production of local fried shallot, (2) determine the market demand of local fried shallot, and (3) identify supply continuity of fried shallot commodity.  The population of the research was ten small – medium fried shallotbusinesses (UKM) in Palu city.  Samples selected were based on a Purposive Sampling technique.  Data recorded was analyzed using descriptive analysis and one way t-test.  The results showed that the total amount of fried shallot demand was 30.730 kg and the total amount of fried shallotproduction was 18.360 kg in Palu city.  The demand for the fried shallot was significantly ( larger than its production suggesting that there is a big potency for UKM to be developed. Keywords :, Fried onion, Market demand, Potency, Processing, Production.

Abstract

This research aims to know if the earns of copra producer can fulfill tha need of their family and relatives, and also to know if all copra producer in tolongano village stay under or above line of  poverty level, if we assume that their earns take from copra processing bussines only.  This research was aabout study case at copra producer ini tolongano village.  It was coundected from October to December 2006 in Tolongano Village south Banawa Sub District Donggala District.  The result shown that average earn of copra producer was about Rp. 332,173 per period, with the average of family members was about 5 people.  Therefore, if we make a conversion based on rice equal need, it can be concluded that it was 88,58 kg/person/year.  In conclusion, if copra producer only earn from copra processing bussines, overall copra producer categorized with “very poor”.

Abstract

Pot experimental research under green house condition was carried out in Yogyakarta during March-Mei 2009. The aim of the experiment was to determine the influence of soil moisture on growth and yield of local-varieties shallots (Palasa, Palu and Sumenep) at different elevations. The experiment was arranged in a Split Split Plot Design with three replications. The main plot was local varieties of shallot: (1) Palasa; (2) Palu; and (3) Sumenep. The sub-plot were soil moisture (field capacity percentage - % FC), included: (1) 50% FC; (2) 100% FC; and (3) 150% FC. Each variety has a different response to different soil moisture and altitude places.  Sumenep variety had the lowest net assimilation rate (NAR) and Palasa variety produced smallest fresh-bulb at all soil moisture and elevation. Soil moisture at 100% FC increased crop growth rate (CGR) and bulb’s fresh-weight per crop bunch of Palu variety particularly on elevation 100 m above sea level, whereas 50% FC reduced shallot growth and yield on all elevation.

Abstract

The goal of this research was to determine the proper strategy formulation for developing a business distillation of essential oils made from raw material of waste clove leaves located in Lumbotarombo Village, South Banawa District of Donggala Regency. The analitycal tool used to determine the feasibility of the strategy and business development was the SWOT (strenght, weaknesess, opportunities and threats) analysis.The stages in the SWOT analysis were internal and external factor identification of the company, IFAS and EFAS determination, SWOT diagram construction, and SWOT diagram matric formation.  It is found that the formulation for appropriate development strategy was S-O (strenghts–opportunities) strategy in whichthe strengths were utilized in order to take advantages of the opportunities through maximizing the use of technology to increase production to meet consumer demand, rising price of the product simultaneously with an increase in the quality of products generated in a way of choosing raw materials more selectively and balancing the price of the product with that of raw materials so people could been courage in collecting clove leaves and production can be increased to met consumer demand. Key Words : Internal and external factors, strategy development, and SWOT analysis.

Abstract

Daun kelor banyak dimanfaatkan menjadi pengkaya nutrisi pada berbagai produk pangan, akan tetapi penggunaannya masih belum optimal karena rasa pahit dan aroma langu daun kelor. Hal ini disebabkan tingginya kadar saponin pada daun kelor. Untuk itu telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan menurunkan kadar saponin sehingga diperoleh tepung daun kelor dengan kadar saponin sebesar 0,79%; protein 28,705%; vitamin C 90,77 mg/100 g dan vitamin A 3590 μg/100 g. Selanjutnya untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya pada produk pangan maka tepung daun kelor hasil penelitian ini (sampel T1W1P1) difortifikasi ke produk biskuit untuk mengetahui tingkat penerimaan konsumen terhadap tepung ini. Analisis daya terima produk biskuit ini dilakukan dengan cara 3 metode yaitu metode uji tingkat kepentingan konsumen terhadap atribut (uji nilai importance to customer ), metode uji pembedaan (triangle test) untuk seleksi panelis dan uji deskriptif (uji scoring) untuk pengujian pengaruh penambahan tepung ekstrak daun kelor terhadap organoleptik biskuit. Penilaian dilakukan terhadap empat parameter yaitu warna, aroma, tekstur, dan rasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampel biskuit BK5 (tepung terigu 95%, tepung daun kelor 5%) dengan nilai masing-masing atribut yaitu Rasa = 4,20 (enak), warna = 3,84 (sesuai kontrol), aroma = 3,84 (tidak langu) dan tekstur = 4,16 (renyah). Hal ini berarti kadar saponin pada tepung daun kelor yang dapat diterima panelis sebesar 3,95 gr. Kata Kunci: Analisis Organoleptik, Biskuit, dan Daun Kelor,

Abstract

Diamondback moth P. xylostella attack on cabbage crop represents one of the main constraints in the crop development in Donggala regency Central Sulawesi.  Plant extracts as insecticide to control the pest can be developed to overcome the constraint. The research aimed at determining the effectiveness of various plant extracts to suppress P.xylostella . The research was conducted in       a central plantation of cabbage in Nupa Bomba, Tawaeli sub district or Donggala regency, from March to October 2008.  This research used a Randomized Block Design with 5 treatments: K0 = Control (water), K1 = Widuri extract, K2 = Srikaya extract, K3 = Dringo extract and K4 = matador 25 EC insecticide. Each treatment was repeated 4 times giving 20 experimental units. The experimental  parameter observed were (i) density of larva population, and (ii) crop weight per plot. Data were analysis using analysis of variance, whether the treatments were significant, advanced analysis of Duncan Multiple Range Test at 5% significant level was used.  The research results showed that the various plant extracts have significant effect on population density of the larva diamondback moth (P.xylostella) and the cabbage weight.  The largest number of dead larvae  was found in K3 treatment K3 (extract of Dringo leaf).  In the same treatment, the cabbage weight per crop was also higher than any other treatment.
