Abstract

An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of  Titonia bokashi on the changes in the level of potassium (K) up take and yield of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) grown on Entisol. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with the rates of bokashi includingno bokashi added (to), 10 t ha-1(t1), 20 t ha-1(t2), 30 t ha-1(t3), 40 t ha-1(t4), 50 t ha-1(t5), and 60 t ha-1(t6). Each treatment was replicated three times so that there were 21 experimental units.  The application of Titonia bokashi up to 60 t ha-1was proven to effectively increase soil C-organic, K-total, K-available, plant dry weight, plant K concentration, K uptake, fresh and dry weight of shallot bulbs of Lembah Palu variety. Highest potassium uptake (11.07g) and maximum dry weight of shallot bulbs per clump was achieved at the rate of 60 t ha-1. Key Words: Potassium, shallot, and Titonia bokashi.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the power of demand and supply of  food crop subsector in regional economy of Central Sulawesi Province. Method of analyses used were the modified shift and share analysis. Data used were time series data, such as Gross Domestic Regional Product of Central Sulawesi, and Gross Domestic Product of Indonesia, during 2000 – 2008. The analyses results showed that power of supply side of the food crops subsector was signed possitively, and very significant, so the subsector growth was pushed up fully (100%) by its supply side. Consequently, the subsector is the prime mover of agriculture sector in regional economy of Central Sulawesi Provincial.

Abstract

             Nutrient enrichment and environmental manipulation in this study were aimed to enhance the growth and quality of Gracilaria sp.  Enrichment treatments were  N: P ratio of 10:0 (A), N: P ratio of 10:1 (B), N: P ratio of 5:1 (C) and no nutrient added (D) with stocking density of 800 g per culture media and water depth of 50 cm  in week I-IV. Light manipulation as water depth variation was conducted in week V-VI. Completely randomize design was employed with 6  and 2 replication in week I-IV and week V-VI, respectively.  The results showed no significant effect of treatments on the growth of seaweed (ANOVA, P> 0.05), however DGR maximum indicated by treatment B. The highest water content of the dried Gracilaria <24%, while the average ash content for all treatments <33%. In general, higher agar yields were obtained from non-enriched treatment (D) and treatment with a depth of 80 cm.                         Key words : Disease, enrichment, Gracilaria sp. manipulation, seaweed active extract.

Abstract

Shallot of LembahPalu variety is one of prioritized commodities in Central Sulawesi and is a raw material for fried onion processing industry which has become a local brand for Palu city.  This variety is unique different from other varieties as shown by its dense texture bulb resulting in crunchy, tastefuland unchangeable aroma when kept sealed for a long period of time. The objective of this research was to determine the nutrient status under shallot plantation in Maku village, Dolo sub district of Sigi district.  Survey was conducted on the research location where soil samples were taken purposively.  Low soil C-organic of 0.97 – 0.70% was found due to their intensive cultivation.  Soil pH was relatively neutral ranging from 7.4 – 7.6 cmol(+) kg-1.  The content of soil P-total and K-total was low varying between 17.18-15.06 mg 100g-1 and between 11.84-11.01 mg 100g-1, respectively. The soil CEC was also low around 5.91-4.08 cmol(+)kg-1.Keywords: LembahPalu shallot, and soil chemical status.

Abstract

The research aims were to identify the total cost spent, the total expenditure received, and the number of production units of a Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) enterprise at the time of BEP was achieved. The research was conducted at KUB “Yevo Mulia in Lalombi Village South Banawa Sub District of Donggala District. This KUB was selected with consideration that it is one of the society joint ventures on Virgin Coconut enterprise available at Lalombi Village Sub District of South Banawa which its production has a broad market segment. This research was carried on October to Desember 2006. The analysis showed that the BEP at KUB “Yevo Mulia” South Banawa Sub District of Donggala for the A type product was about 112.56 bottles or with expenditure about IDR 1,969,800 per month, for product B type about 728 bottles with expenditure about IDR. 1,608,300 per month.

Abstract

A’true experiment’ research on Boer and Boerawa goats reproductive ability for improving local goat genetic through Artifian Insemination (AI) was conducted at a village farm in Wani I, Kayu Malue, Palu Utara, Donggala district, Central Sulawesi from March to Desember 2002.  This study aims at improving the genetic and production of Palu local goat by improving their reproductive efficencies. A “true experimental design” was applied in which the reproductive ability of male goat from two different breeds was tested on female local goat through AI.  Descriptive analysis of semen and spermatozoa qualities showed that Boerawa breed had higher semen quality (D/+++/90%) than male Boer (SD/++/75%).  Proporsional statistical analysis indicated that Conception Rate (CR) of female local goat that was artificially inseminated with Boerawa semen (CR : 100%) was significantly higher (P<0.05) than those of female local goat inseminated with Boer semen  (CR : 60%). Considering the importance of improving the production and productivity of local goat in Central Sulawesi through improving reproductive efficiency, basic or applicative experiments on the reproductive adaptation of high production breeds to improve genetic potential of local breed are continuosly needed.

Abstract

 Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mempelajari dan mengetahui morfologi dan liang gerek larva instar satu dan instar akhir PBK C. cramerella pada buah kakao di desa Rahmat kecamatan Palolo kabupaten Sigi provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Hasil penelitian rerata panjang liang gerek larva PBK C. cramerella  instar satu yang baru menetas masuk menggerek buah kakao 0,218±0,005mm, rerata lebar liang gerek larva PBK C. cramerella instar satu 0,148±0,004mm, rerata panjang liang gerek larva instar akhir keluar dari dalam buah kakao 1,481±0,017mm dan rerata lebar liang gerek larva instar akhir 1,239±0,030mm. Rerata panjang telur PBK C cramerella 0,480±0,027mm dan rerata lebar telur 0,288±0,014mm. Rerata panjang larva instar akhir PBK C. cramerella 9,725±0,174 mm, rerata panjang pupa PBK C. cramerella 7,828±0,107mm, rerata panjang imago PBK C. cramerella 6,690±0,125mm dan rerata lebar kapsul kepala larva PBK C. cramerella 0,935±0,040mm. Kata Kunci : C. cramerella, larva instrar akhir, larva instar satu.

Abstract

A research on numerical simulation of the relationship between Auxis thazard body length and weight was conducted to study the growth pattern of the fish. The research was done through survey which was initiated by measuring the body length of n fish samples drawn from N fish population. The size of fish population (N) was determined based on the total number of fish collected from any landing catch. The number of fish samples required was based on their variability in the catch yield for each catching period. Data collected was analyzed on the basis of functional relationship between fish fork length (FL) and body weight (W) following the non linear mathematical equation: W (i)  =  qFL(i)b. A numerical simulation was then performed using the techniques of data interpolation and extrapolation. The regression value for the relationship of the two parameters was 3.63 indicating that the growth of the Auxis thazard on the first day of data collection was positive allometric while on the second day it was negative allometric with a regression coefficient of 2.92.

Abstract

The research purpose is to study the response of growth and yield of Banggaiyam ofBaku Pususvariety under various combination of inorganic fertilizer, organic fertilizers and rice straw mulch. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of seven treatments which grouped into four based on different land slopes. Thus there were 21experimental units. There was no significant effect on growth components including growth percentage, plant height and number of shoot but it was significant on plant height at 74 days after planting  (DAP).The highest plant height was 171.50 cm found in the combination of inorganic fertilizer, organic and rice straw mulch. There was alsono significant effect on the yield components except the productivity of tuber. The highest productivity was 6.33 tons ha-1shown by the combination of inorganic fertilizer, organic with rice straw mulch.Keywords : Organic, Ubi banggai (Dioscorea alata) anorganic fertilizer, Rice Straw Mulch

Abstract

This research purpose was to identify the income of wetland rice farming and the proper rice selling price at the farmer level in Morowalidistrict that can generate good income for the farmers.  Samples of this research were 93 respondents randomly taken from the total population of 1,354 wetland rice farmers with an assumption that all farmers have similar land area sizes.  The results of analysis showed that the income of one farmer is IDR. 12,15,.004/ha/planting season while the TPP analysis revealed that the income is IDR 808,366.53/ha/planting season and the production is 144, 48 kg/ha/planting season.  The selling price determined based onregional minimum wage in Central Sulawesi is IDR 6,713/kg. The Sajogyocriterion is IDR 10,289/kg while the World Bank indicator is IDR 7,657/kg. The rice selling price based on the World Bank indicator is lower than the highest retail price but is higher than the government purchase price. Keywords: Income Analysis, the Determination of Selling Rice, Paddy Field.
