Abstract

There are three things examined in this article, the definition of gender, the concept of nature, and the concept of nurture. These three things need to be studied, because they are the keywords for feminists to spread their ideas to the world of Islam. The existence of feminism should be criticized, as historically this understanding did not make women better in running their lives. That because of problems in the concept of feminism and itsnegative effect. The caution is needed, because the gender activists often point to the backwardness of women and the suppression of them by showing the incorrect reasons. In addressing the differences between men and women, Islam has a better concept than feminism. Islam has a concept of fitrah and amanah. This paper tries to study theconcept of nature and nurture in the Islamic perspective, tries to present an alternative in addressing the differences between men and women, also tries to shows the proof whether Islam leans to the one of two concepts being debated.

Abstract

This article departs from an assumption regarding atheism is actually a part of ‎belief rejects the existence of God. Question about God is always interesting to be ‎discussed, in the case of some people believe in the existence of God and some others ‎reject it. So it is not surprising to find terms of theism (believe in God) and atheism (not ‎believing in God) altogether. This study initiated from Western and Eastern thought ‎about divinity and how they prove God’s existence. Western perspective is affirmed to ‎reject an existence of God. God is merely an abstract and has nothing to do with the ‎creation of the universe. While according to Eastern perspective, they believe in the ‎existence of God through a rational arguments that can be accepted by reason. ‎Accordingly, there are argumentations for sciences, knowledge, and nature creation ‎interrelated to an existence of Creator behind and that is “God". Based on this ‎research, it is understood that Islam describes God’s existence by combining reason ‎with faith under the guidance of al-Qur'an and al-Sunnah in order not to violate ‎Shari'a.‎

Abstract

Abstract:This paper particularly discusses Sayyid Qutb's concept of Islamic Theology. In this paper exposed Sayyid’s ideas that many people said, are the main concept from Sayyid Qutb that inspire thinking for many “radical” groups. Even James Toth said that Sayyid Qutb as the architect of a mindset that inspired the 9/11 tragedy. The argument was reinforced by Paul Berman, who called Sayyid Qutb as The Philosopher of Islamic Terror. From these two arguments, it is obvious that Sayyid’s figure is highly controversial and is a subject of research for many scholars. Even Sayyid’s work, which was titled Ma’alim fii Ath-Thariq, was part of a forbidden book used by the Egyptian government to sentencing Sayyid to death in 1966. The study in this paper is library research by using a descriptive-philosophical analysis. From the results of this research, it can be inferred that Sayyid’s thinking is composed of several ideas. (1) Jahiliyyah. (2) Ratio and Revelation. (3) Islam, Tauhid and Islamic Brotherhood (Ukhuwah Islamiyah), which consists of ukhuwah bil ubudiyyah, ukhuwah bil insaniyyah, ukhuwah bil wathaniyyah, and ukhuwah fii Din Al-Islam. Those concepts were important as another basis for Sayyid’s political views, religion (Ad-Din), and ideological concept, which is the most important goals for banishing jahiliyyah thinking like communism, capitalism, and other concepts based on materialism got into Islam. Keywords: Sayyid Qutb, Islam, Jahiliyah, Ukhuwah Islamiyah

Abstract

Tulisan ini mengkaji konsep Hakim Tirmidzi mengenai kewalian, dengan menelusuri langsung kepada karya-karyanya seperti Khatm Awliya’, ‘Ilm Awliya’, Manazil al-‘Ibad, dan Ma’rifah al-Asrar. Dari kajian sederhana ini didapati bahwa konsep kewalian Hakim merupakan pemahamannya terhadap al-Qur’an dan tradisi kenabian secara ‘irfani. Secara umum, persepsinya tentang kewalian tidaklah berbeda dengan sufi-sufi lainnya. Wali adalah Ahl al-Qurbah yang terbagi kepada dua yaitu; awliya' haqq Allah dan awliya’ Allah, di mana hal itu terkait dengan jalan spiritualitas seseorang yang diperoleh melalui usaha (kasbiyyah) dan pemberian (a’taiyyah). Namun, di tangan Hakim lah pemikiran tentang khatm al-awliya’ awalnya dimunculkan. Baginya terdapat penutup wali orang yang ditarik oleh Allah secara metafisis (majdzub) yang menjadi pemimpin atas para wali, baginya bendera kewalian, dimana para wali membutuhkan pertolongannya sebagaimana para nabi membutuhkan pertolongan Muhammad SAW. Namun, hal itu tidak menjadikannya meninggikan derajat wali dari pada Nabi. Bagi Hakim seorang wali adalah muhaddats, diberi ilham oleh Allah yang mengakibatkan ketenangan (sakinah) di dalam hatinya sedangkan nabi adalah muha (diberi wahyu) oleh Allah melalui kalam Nya, sehingga seorang yang menolak ajaran yang dibawa nabi dihukumi kafir, karena menolak kalamullah sedangkan wali tidak demikian namun orang yang menolaknya akan merasakan kerugian.

Abstract

Abu Muhammad al-Husayn Ibnu Mas’ud al-Baghawi (450-516H) was one of the leading scholars in Tafsir (Quran exegesis), hadith (prophetic tradition), and fiqh (Islamic legal jurisprudence) in his era. He was categorized as muta’akhirūn (scholars who came later on) and was instrumental in the development of these three disciplines. In the field of exegesis, he was among the scholars who used al-Ma’tsūr, (commentary stylist), relying on the verses of the Qur’an, hadith, and the statements from the followers of the tabi’īn (the followers of the followers). This can be found in his recorded work Ma’ālim al Tanzīl. In the field of hadith, he preserved the narration method and presenting a new approach by merging some patterns of hadith narration from several books of hadith in his work known as ṭarīqah al-Jam’u (combination [amalgamation] method). This pattern will not occur unless there is the existence of other transmission lines as a second chain of narration used to produce ‘uluww al-Isnād (the noble sanad) or nuzūl al-Isnād (descent sanad). It is recorded in his works: al-Jam’u baina al-Ṣaḥīḥain, Sharḥ al-Sunnah and Maṣābiḥ al-Sunnah. In the field of Jurisprudence, he was amongst those mujtahidin from the Shafiee school of thought, recorded in his Majmū’ ‘al-Fatāwā, al-Kifāyah fī al-Furū’ and Kitāb al-Tahdzīb. This paper aims to examine one of al-Baghawi’s skills in sanad collection which is the uluww al-isnād and nuzūl al-isnād, recorded from his two works Ma’ālim al-Tanzīl and Syarḥ al-Sunnah. The quantitative, qualitative and comparative approach has been used in this study to give an authentic description of the terms ‘uluww al-isnād, nuzūl al-isnād from al-Baghawi. Studies have found there are many examples of uluww al-Isnād and nuzūl al-isnāds contained in the patterns of al-Baghawi’s chain of narration towards the Ṣaḥīḥayn of al-Bukhari and Muslim as the mustakhrij (the validator of both).

Abstract

The safety discourse found in religious pluralism becomes a serious problem among the religions. Religious pluralism comes to offer a new concept in which salvation belongs to all religions. Everyone, whatever his religion, has the same chance to enter heaven. In fact, every religion has a unique concept of safety and special requirements to achieve it. The requirement in Islam is syahādat and in Christianity is the creed. In Islam, if you want to be saved, then you must embrace Islam by testifying that there is no god but Allah and testifying that Muhammad is His messenger. Whereas in Christianity, if he wants to be saved, he must be baptized by acknowledging his belief in the God of the Trinity, Maryam the mother of Jesus, and the Church. Thus, this paper attempts to reveal the concept of Syahādat in Islam and Christianity in response to the concept of salvation in religious pluralism. To find the similarities and differences between Syahādat and the creed. In this way it can be proved that the concept of salvation in religious pluralism which states salvation applies to all religions is wrong. Proven with the different conditions of salvation between Islam and Christianity. If the conditions are different, of course the results are also different.

Abstract

During Islamic science development, Islamic community is divided into two groups. First, who is aimed to create rationalist society and being scientific in viewing the science by accepting it entirely from western view. Second, who decisively refuse the Western modernity by the argument that science and Islam can burgeon by turning back into Islamic foundations. Mehdi Golshani tries to explain the actual concept of Islamic science and criticism toward Western science. Based on result of this research, it can be concluded that first, Islamic science is the science which is based on Islamic values, such as the worldview in metaphysic form or Islamic philosophy assumption, epistemiologic principle and Islamic ethic in any science dimension. Second, criticism toward modern science is basically for positivism, secularism which is existent behind of epistemiology of modern science. Therefore, according to Mehdi Golshani the steps of scientific research which is done recently, ecpecially emphasizing on observastion and experiment is the standard step which is also done by Muslim scientist

Abstract

Fakhr al-Din al-Razi adalah seorang pemikir klasik yang terpercaya. Pengetahuan nya meliputi berbagai disiplin ilmu, seperti teologi, tafsir, hukum, bahasa, sastra, tasawuf, filsafat, kedokteran, fisika, astronomi, astrologi, matematika, dan lain-lain. Dalam hal fikih, al-Razi bermazhab Syafi’i, dalam filsafat terpengaruh Muhammad Zakaria al Razi dan Ibn Sina, sedang dalam hal fisika mengikuti jejak Abual-Barakat al-Baghdadi. Tidak berbeda dengan filosof yang anti-Aristotelian sebelumnya, al-Razi mencoba menyelaraskan agama dan filsafat rasional. Keunggulan al-Razi di berbagai bidang ini belum banyak digali sehingga menjadi tambahan bagi khazanah keilmuan Islam. Artikel ini hendak memaparkan beberapa pemikiran-pemikiran Fakhr al-Din al-Razi yang berkenaan dengan kalam, filsafat, fikih, dan ilmu pengetahuan lain yang dapat ditemukan dalam karya-karyanya yang sudah diterbitkan. Dengan harapan, artikel ini dapat berguna untuk lebih mengenalkan pemikiran-pemikirannya yang masih menunggu untuk dieksplorasi lebih serius.

Abstract

 This article aims to classify the integration model of Islamic values and science, and their implementation in the Islamic world. The research method uses library research, which is collecting data from various primary and secondary reference sources relating to the themes discussed. From the discussion, it could be concluded that the integration of islamic values and science is very important and a necessity in modern era. Integration is carried out to face the war of thought of Western secular-liberal, materialistic and atheist hegemony, and fortify themselves from westernized muslim intelectual propaganda, while at the same time improving the attitude of conservative-literal clerics who reject modernity. There are four models of integration; Islamic Scientification, Islamization of Science, habituation of Islamic science based on revelation, and the integration of several integration models. The implementation of Islamic Scientification is strongly dominated by academicians in the teachings of relegion, then strenthening it with scientific evidence. The Islamization of Science is stronlyg dominated by academicians in the field of science, then strengtened with the foundation of the al-Qur'an, hadits, and the thought of muslim scholars. The habituation of islamic science was carried out by scientists who are experts in religious and scientific sciences ontologically, methodologically, and axiologically, and proud of islamic identity. While the combination of two or several models of integration is dominated by educational institutions and academicians that prioritize the goal of proving that Allah created all things, there must be benefits for the universe and awakening people to stay away from dangerous things.

Abstract

The usage of biblical criticism as methods to approach the Qur’an have raised doubts about its authenticity. It begins with the assumption that several faults in Bible also found in the Koran. The qur’anic text is also worthy of criticism since it assumed as only written document, which is not also have being memorized for centuries in mind. This paper tries to analyze some of biblical criticisms and their employment in the qur’anic studies in order to find out more than the assumptions and the results of studies, with focusing on textual criticism that applied by Arthur Jeffery in his various works. In order to achieve its goals, this library research employ descriptive-analysis methods to outline critically the usage of those biblical criticisms. The result of this study indicates that various qur’anic studies using Biblical criticism have a number of methodological weaknesses, such as the use of invalid reference sources, distortion of facts by changing the reference text, and faults of understanding the sources.
