Abstract

Many factors why EFL learners in Indonesia tend to think that English is difficult to learn, one of which is how the teachers "cook" the teaching learning process to make them "drooling" and "want to eat" English more and more. In other words, teachers should be able to make the "recipe", execute the recipe in sequence, and then "garnish the dish" to make the students tempted to enjoy the material taught. Hence, this article investigates the reasons why most EFL learners reluctantly learn English and and find it difficult to master it. Literature review method was conducted to explore this study which is hoped to answer the questions put forward within this study. No "wow" beginning and poor teacher creativities are some of the main issues of EFL teachers which result in reluctance in the part of students in learning process. Additionally, teacher talks time (TTT), teacher centered learning, and other factors are discussed in this paper to be overcome by EFL teachers. Therefore, training and workshops on creative teaching for teachers are encouraged to conduct and a better attention to EFL teachers' quality control from the schools management and stakeholers should be given.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of student learning motivation and independence on understanding mathematical concepts during the covid-19 pandemic. The hypotheses of this study are 1) The interactive effect of motivation and independent learning together on the ability to understand mathematical concepts. 2) The significant effect of motivation on understanding mathematical concepts. 3) The significant effect of learning independence on the ability to understand mathematical concepts. The research was conducted by survey method using regression data analysis. The population is class VII SMP Negeri in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta with a sample size of 88 students. The research instrument used is a test of understanding mathematical concepts in the form of multiple choice with 30 options. Questionnaire of learning motivation and learning independence. The results of hypothesis testing obtained the following conclusions: 1) There is a significant effect of learning motivation and learning independence together on understanding mathematical concepts. This is evidenced by the value of Sig. = 0.000 <0.05 and F_hitung = 1052.654. 2) There is a significant effect of learning motivation on understanding mathematical concepts. This is evidenced by the value of Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05 and t_count = 4.064. 3) There is a significant effect of independent learning on the understanding of mathematical concepts. This is evidenced by the value of Sig. = 0.006 < 0.05 and t_count = 2.843.

Abstract

Jean Piaget is a psychologist who contributed greatly to the world of education, there are at least two contributions piaget, namely the theory of cognitive learning and the theory of human cognitive development.  Piaget's theory explains that human knowledge is essentially considered active, namely: knowing means acting on objects and realities, and building a system of transformations that can be done on or with them. Piaget stresses that the cognitive processes children use as they build their knowledge of the world are essential: schema, assimilation and accommodation, organization, and equilibrium. Piaget divides the cognitive development of children and adolescents into four stages: sensory-motor, preoperative, concrete operations, and formal operations. Elementary school students are at the stage of concrete operational thinking. Student learning activities are given concrete experiences. Through concrete experience students will easily find concepts. One of them can be done by playing. Piaget believes that playing will foster intrinsic motivation from students. This theory focuses on the active role of children in learning activities. A child not only receives material instantly but the child is guided and directed to discover the concept of material.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation process of responsible character education in SMA Negeri 43 Jakarta. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach using descriptive methods. The data collection technique used is by means of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The research subjects in this study included the principal and deputy principal, teachers, extracurricular coaches, and students. The data analysis technique used is the Milles and Huberman method which consists of data reduction by triangulation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the process of implementing responsibility character education has been carried out by schools both in learning activities, in extracurricular activities, and carried out in habituation activities.
