Abstract

Film as a form of mass communication have the ability to influence society. The influence of film on society is used by filmmakers in providing messages in the form of views on social phenomena such as patriarchal culture. Filmmakers use a view of feminism as a resistance to patriarchal culture in their works. One of the films that uses feminist views to fight patriarchy is Lady Bird. This paper describes the signs of feminism in film using Peirce's semiotic analysis. Signs of feminism are depicted in verbal and nonverbal film scenes in the form of dialogues and actors' performances throughout the film. The view of feminism in the Lady Bird implies the resistance of patriarchal culture through the mass media for people's views. Keywords: Lady Bird, Film, Semiotic, Feminism.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research analyzed the presence of social ecology discourse in Pak Tua yang Membaca Kisah Cinta novel by Luis Sepúlveda through Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis model. In textual analysis, the researcher found social ecology discourse in novel which included the ecological crises due to dominance of the state and capital; and ecological oriented culture of indigenous people. Based on discursive practice analysis, the presence of those discourse come from social cognition of Luis Sepúlveda who has believed in indigenous people’s ecological oriented culture, same as the publisher of this novel. Meanwhile, sociocultural practice analysis has shown the link between social and ecological problems in the novel with the history of discrimination against indigenous people and their resistance in Ecuador. Therefore, these three dimensions found that this novel with its social ecology idea has provided alternative perspective to supported a counter-discourse which indigenous people built to maintain ecology sustainability. Abstract

ABSTRACT The form of anarchism can be presented through films, such as the Joker film. The chaos of the city of Gotham arises because of the inequality of a corrupt city, resulting in a corrupt government and the birth of businessmen who can have any power to represent their interests, not the interests of the people of Gotham. The purpose of this research is to find out how anarchism is represented in the Joker film. This study uses a qualitative approach and is analyzed using the semiotic analysis of Charles Sanders Pierce. The related scenes in the film are analyzed using the Charles Sanders Pierce semiotic method which consists of sign, object and interpretant. The results of this study indicate that the Joker film represents anarchism in the form of threats and intimidation such as demonstrations, looting, riots and anarchism responses channeled through several media, support and thoughts of anarchism. Abstract

Representation is a picture or sign of a meaning in a message. Music is a medium that can deliver messages to audiences on a large scale, Like the message about world peace contained in John Lennon's song Imagine, this research aims to analyze how the representation of world peace is contained in John Lennon's song Imagine. This research method uses qualitative research, qualitative research aims to explain phenomena in depth by collecting data and this research also uses a constructivist paradigm. The theory in this study uses Ferdinand De Saussure's theory where this theory has the principle that language is a sign system, and each sign is composed of two parts, namely the signifier and the signified. The results of this study indicate that in the song Imagine describes the causes of conflict that keep the world away from peace. Abstract

President Joko Widodo is a political communicator who uses vlog content to communicate with the millennial generation. As a source or communicator in the digital era, having good credibility in building effective communication through the media is very important. The purpose of this study is to find out Joko Widodo's credibility in the #JKWVlog Vlog in the Millennial Generation of Denpasar City. This research uses the descriptive quantitative method and was analysied with the theory of Source Credibility by Hovland, Janis, and Kelley (1953). The results showed that Joko Widodo's credibility as seen in the #JKWVlog vlog was categorized good because the millennial generation had a good assessment of expertise and attractiveness, as well as high trust in Joko Widodo as a political communicator. Abstract

In the context of marketing, advertising is the spearhead in supporting the marketing success of a product and service. Through images or ideas that have been created, advertisement are expected to be able to persuade consumers to consume the product and service that have been advertised. In the case of binding to the public’s attractiveness, the female figure is often used as a symbol to display the visual form of the audience. The representation of female beauty that the marketing have made generaly establish a standard of certain beauty such as tall, have a white skin and straight hair. But now, advertising has also undergone a change as in the Pond’s Perfecting Cream Ft. Maudy Ayunda advertisement. Through qualitative research with Charles Sander Peirce’s semiotic analysis method, the results obtained that representations of female beauy can not be judged by one standard of beauty, but it is diverse. Abstract

ABSTRACT "A Man Called Ahok" is a national biopic film that in its release, this film raises opinions of many people related to its emergence of the political contestation season and of Ahok’s controversial figure. Ahok is assumed to have a mission to win the sympathy of the people, with a narrative of Ahok's life values ??during Bangka Belitung. The purpose of this study is to explain the relationship between exposure of the film "A Man Called Ahok" with the image of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in society. The study uses explanation quantitative research methods with the theory of media exposure, image, and media dependencies. The results indicate that there is a relationship between the exposure of the film "A Man Called Ahok" with the image of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in the community. Abstract

A person's credibility affects the communicant to make a product decision. The use of beauty vloggers is easier to influence consumers' psychology because they are individuals who are popular with society. One of the well-known beauty vloggers in Indonesia and has the highest number of subscribers is named Tasya Farasya. Tasya Farasya collaborated with Focallure in creating products by releasing the eyeshadow pallete "THE NEEDS" FOCALLURE X TASYA FARASYA. The purpose1of this study was to explain the.effect.of Tasya Farasya's.credibility. on purchase intention of Focallure products among adolescents in Denpasar City. . The results showed that Tasya Fasrasya's credibility had a positive influence on the purchase intention of focallure products among adolescents in Denpasar City with a value of 0.536 which was classified as moderate with an influence level of 75% with a sample size of 170 respondents. Abstract

Tempo magazine’s coverage of Team Mawar, who is suspected of being the mastermind behind the post-20 election riots has attracted a lot of media attention. In order to analyze this, the researcher used the Pan and Kosicki framing analysis method. This research focuses on reporting on post-election riots in 2019. In this study, researchers used the Monday, June 10, 2019 edition of Tempo magazine as the unit of analysis. The results of this study is news framing by Tempo magazine is carried out by among others; selecting news sources, selecting quotations from news sources, using pronouns, repeating word and placing images that can support news framing. Abstract

Women and beauty are two things that are interrelated. The way each women looks for the meaning of their beauty are different. The mass media1 plays the important1 role in the process of defining women about beauty. Women’s beauty can support their physical appearance and they have their own way of finding the meaning of beauty according to them. The advertisement of Make Over Beauty Beyond Rules: Art Collaboration present to convey that beauty has no rules or standards that must be fulfilled and women must be dare to express themselves and be confident because beauty has no limits. This study was analyzed1 by using qualitative approach with descriptive research method and using Charles Sanders Peirce’s1 semiotic1 theory. The result of this study showed that beauty has no rules that must be fulfilled and as a woman, you must have the courage to express yourself and know your inner values.
