Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology in the industrial world, causing competition between industries to be tighter. This makes the industry to increase productivity both in terms of process and results. Waste is a big problem in the industrial world. One of them occurred in a tissue industry in East Java. Where the production of towel wipes is one of the largest produced production items. The observations made identified 32 types of waste categorized into seven waste. Waste Assessment Model (WAM) is a suitable method to identify critical waste that occurs, Value Stream Mapping for mapping, Root Cause Analysis to find the root cause of problems, and 5W1H to reinforce problems and provide suggestions for improvement. The calculation and analysis results of the Waste Assessment Model (WAM) method obtained the largest amount of critical waste, namely defects by 20.31%, by 18.59%, and Motion by 15.30%. The root cause of the problem that occurs is the condition of the engine in a state that is not optimal age and lack of maintenance, the absence of SOPs that regulate how to maintain the appropriate order, human errors in the rewinder engine setup, and the need for engine upgrades. So that some recommendations for improvements that can be made are starting from the development of SOPs, training and monitoring, upgrading various facilities, and machine automation. The results of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) showed that the Value Cycle Efficiency (PCE) after improvement increased from 45.26 to 64.38%. This shows the success of improvement recommendations in resolving various wastes and increasing the efficiency of existing processes.

Abstract

Surface and ground water pollution that occurs in DKI Jakarta shows an increasing trend. Efforts to develop centralized household domestic wastewater treatment which had been initiated by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government since 1972 have been progressing very slowly. A lot of research has been carried out and can be used as a reference, but not much has discussed the sustainability of holistic domestic wastewater management. The concept of sustainable development is basically how to place ecological, economic and social aspects as an inseparable unit so that it can meet the needs of the current generation without reducing the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The waste water management system implemented by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is still partial and not holistic. The research results show that waste water management in DKI Jakarta is at a less sustainable status. For this reason, determining priority strategies to achieve the objectives of the waste management development program and formulating strategies for developing domestic waste management, including reducing the level of water pollution, financing development, selecting technology, handling social problems, providing land, developing institutions and increasing community participation, needs to be carried out. for the sustainability of domestic wastewater management in DKI Jakarta.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of transformational leadership, job satisfaction and organizational commitment on employee performance through work motivation in shipping companies. The research used a questionnaire distributed online to collect data. Determining the research sample using a purposive sampling method, namely employees who work in shipping in the West Indonesia Region and Central Indonesia Time, namely 87 employees. To assess the strength of direct and indirect relationships between various variables, SEM and Partial Least Square (PLS) models were used. The results of this research indicate that transformational leadership has a significant effect on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on work motivation. Organizational commitment has a positive and significant effect on work motivation and employee performance. Work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Transformational Leadership has a positive and insignificant relationship to employee performance in a direct relationship and through an indirect relationship. Transformational Leadership has a significant relationship to work performance, mediated by organizational commitment and intervened by work motivation. Job satisfaction has an insignificant positive relationship with employee performance in a direct relationship, but job satisfaction has a positive and significant relationship with employee performance when intervened by work motivation.

Abstract

Trash rake is a trash netting tool used to transport trash in rivers. In its application, the operation of trash rake is still mostly done manually by the operator. In this case, there is no effectiveness in terms of the use of human resources or the effectiveness of machines. Therefore, in this study, a development was made on an automatic trash rake machine that works automatically if the waste stuck on the trash rake machine has experienced density. The image processing method used is the Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). Used camera to capture the image of the density of the trash. The captured image is processed by GMM method. Then the data is processed on a computer and the data is displayed on the web. Arduino will drive the motor on the trash rake machine automatically with the parameters of the waste density data. The results obtained, the system can detect the level of waste density with an accuracy of 67.5% in bright, dim and dark conditions with the camera position according to the object observation area. The trash rake machine can turn on and off automatically based on the detected waste density.

Abstract

This study investigates the capability of two-dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation to estimate the temperature distribution pattern and velocity contours in a single slope solar still that uses soybean wax as a phase change material (PCM). A triangular mesh model is employed in the simulation. The basin geometry uses a mesh with 20,402 nodes and 10,000 elements, while the PCM geometry uses a mesh consisting of 9,272 nodes and 4,500 elements. This study introduces an equation developed based on the Dunkle, Bulk Motion, and Chilton-Colburn analogies to estimate the Nusselt number in the solar still. The water temperature (Tw), the inner surface temperature of the glass cover (Tg), and the PCM temperature (Tpcm) are determined experimentally, whereas the performance of the conventional solar distillation system is predicted theoretically using the experimental results. The results demonstrate that the use of soybean wax as a PCM positively influences the temperature distribution and streamline patterns within the single slope solar still. In the morning, the temperature and velocity distributions reveal that the isotherm lines are parallel to the lower right segment of the cavity, indicating that conduction is the dominant heat transfer mechanism. As the day progresses, the streamline pattern inside the cavity expands and becomes more curved, suggesting an increased influence of the convection process. These findings are consistent with the CFD analysis results, which show high accuracy in predicting Nusselt numbers. Furthermore, the comparison between daily distilled water productivity from experimental measurements and theoretical predictions shows good agreement.

Abstract

The Paiton Steam Power (PLTU) is an industry that uses coal as fuel. One of the wastes is fly ash. Fly ash can be used as a partial replace cement because it has pozzolanic properties. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of adding coal fly ash on the flexural capacity, stiffness, ductility, crack patterns and failure of single reinforced concrete beams. The test objects consisted of five cylinders and five beams in the proportions of 0% fly ash, 5% fly ash, 10% fly ash, 15% fly ash and 20% fly ash. The fly ash used is type C category. The beam testing uses a four-point loading method. Test results showed that beams containing 15% fly ash have higher performance than other proportions. The flexural capacity of beams containing 15% fly ash increases to 18.96%, ductility increases to 2.74% and stiffness decreases to 24.44% of normal concrete or 0% fly ash. The crack and failure patterns of beams in the proportion fly ash have the same pattern as normal concrete.

Abstract

Information technology has now become an important part of spatial data management for sustainable geopsasial information planning and development. This research aims to develop webgis routing applications using open source GIS technology capable of providing dynamic routing systems, completing effective routing, and displaying route search results. The system is built with Client-Server architecture design consisting of QGIS as GIS software, OSM as open spatial data provider, HTML, CSS, Javascript as basic programming language, Leaflet, Boostrap, and JQuery as mapping library, XAMPP as Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS as spatial database management system, Dijkstra as route engine library and PHP as REST API for Web Development Backend. The results showed that the routing WebGIS application was able to run well in finding routes based on the Point of Interest (POI) entered and be able to display the results of alternative routes when there were road closures. Based on the results of the study, the conclusion is the use of open source technology is able to produce a dynamic routing, can be modified, easy in maintenance, and many library options for web mapping.

Abstract

Clitoria ternatea L. or commonly called butterfly pea is a vine that belongs to the fabaceae family. This plant is known to provide many benefits, one of which is as a natural antibacterial. Secondary metabolite compounds in C. ternatea are thought to be responsible for its antimicrobial activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of C. ternatea extract in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria and to determine the interaction between the concentration of the extract and its growth. The method used was an experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments given were variations in the concentration of C. ternatea extract by 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, positive control of meropenem and negative control of aquades. The C. ternatea extracts were also screened for phytochemicals for flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and phenols which showed positive results for these five compounds. The results of antibacterial testing proved that C. ternatea extract could inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria and the concentration treatment had a very significant effect on the zone of inhibition. The antibacterial activity of C. ternatea extract was most effective at a concentration of 100% with the mean value of DDH against S. aureus bacteria was 8.44 ± 0.27 mm while against E. coli bacteria was 10.00 ± 0.73 mm. The concentration treatment of the tested C. ternatea extract had a very significant effect on the zone of inhibition of the two bacteria.

Abstract

Liberalization of the defense industry in Western countries and fundamental changes in military doctrine have created a variety of sophisticated weaponry used by developed countries. The aim of war today is no longer to control enemy territory, but to rely on sophisticated weaponry to achieve certain goals. This journal highlights the complex threats emanating from submarine military modernization in the Asia Pacific and its impact on Indonesia's maritime security. This research uses the AHP method to look for the biggest submarine threats, then uses game theory to play out the strategies of the countries that have the biggest threats. This research examines threats from neighboring countries that have advanced submarines and formulates appropriate strategies to maintain Indonesia's maritime security. The research results show that Australia is the country with the highest submarine threat level in the region, followed by China and Singapore. Malaysia has a lower threat level. In facing the threat of nuclear submarines from Australia, Indonesia must design an effective maritime defense strategy by considering diplomacy, regional cooperation, increasing defense capabilities and comprehensive policy planning. This is important to maintain national security and stability in the era of increasingly developing submarine military modernization in the Indo-Pacific region.

Abstract

Food security is crucial all over the world. Even food security is one of the goals in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Indonesia has also made food security a goal in both short and long term development. As a country with geographical conditions that are coveted by other countries, it is only natural for Indonesia to be able to use existing resources to maximize domestic development, one of which is through food security. Provinces that are spread from Sabang to Merauke make Indonesia must be able to analyze the grouping of its food security by considering various indicators. Food security indicators are integrated into the aspects of food availability, affordability, and utilization. Clustering is a method in machine learning to be able to find out food security groupings in Indonesia. There are many clustering methods. Several methods that are widely used are Hierarchical, K-Means, and Fuzzy C-Means. All three can produce different groupings. In this study, it was found that there was one province that had low food security, namely Papua Province. In addition, some of the provinces that always have high food security are all provinces on the island of Java.
