Abstract

One of the main issues facing the Government in Malacca Strait is the security and safety issue, which threatens the users of sea transportation service and potentially interferes with the business operation. In fact, most of the international distribution lines pass through the Malacca Strait, making it the busiest strait in the world. On the other hand, the high cost of maintaining security and safety in the area burdens the government. Hence, this research aims to develop a strategy in handling the sea transportation system to achieve the equilibrium between economic efficiency and the government's effectiveness in maintaining the security and safety of the shipping traffic in Malacca Strait. This study is a problem solving-based research using Soft System Methodology. As a result, the integrated piloting strategy has been developed as a recommendation to be implemented. With this strategy, the ships that pass through the Malacca Strait are advised to adopt integrated piloting. The pilots and the security guards would be on board and safely and securely help the ship pass through the Malacca Strait. By that, safety and security would be guaranteed, and the business objectives would be achieved. Keywords: malacca strait, maritime study, sea transportation, soft system methodology

Abstract

Employee turnover could be prevented by identifying the factors causing employee intention to leave the company. This study aimed to analyze the effect of leadership style on the turnover intention with job satisfaction as the mediator. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 130 employees in a three-star hotel in Bogor. The sampling method was a census. This study used the descriptive analysis method and Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) modeling to analyze the influence between variables. The results showed that authentic leadership style has a strong and significant influence on job satisfaction. It was reflected in the leaders who focus on goals, encourage open communication, and have the attitude to supervise and monitor irregularities and take corrective actions. Job satisfaction had a strong and significant influence on employee turnover intentions, reflected on supervision, working situation, recognition and appreciation, and promotion. Authentic leadership style had an insignificantly and weak influence on employee turnover intention. Authentic leadership style significantly influenced turnover intentions through job satisfaction. Abstract

The shipping industry is one of the industries that can advance global economic integration. Currently, the commercial shipbuilding sector is dominated by China, Japan, Korea, and European countries. The domestic shipping supporting industry has not met all the needs of domestic ships, both warships and commercial ships, and ships used for domestic shipping are almost entirely purchases of used vessels from abroad because they are cheap. In contrast, the contribution of the domestic industry only accounts for less than 10%. This research aimed to formulate a development strategy for the shipping industry by increasing competitiveness to support maritime policies and fulfill the needs of the TNI's Alutsista. This study used the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method. The results showed that the priority strategies that could be implemented comprise seven clusters: Supporting industries (share technology development), core industries (technological capabilities), engineering specifications and designs (idea), feasibility studies (technological readiness), research and development (technological innovation), factor conditions (human resources), and government (long-term program). There are different priority strategies in each cluster. Keywords: analytical network process (anp), competitiveness, shipbuilding industry

Abstract

Tasikmalaya District is one of the West Java regions with good agribusiness potentials in food crops and ruminant livestock. The potentials must be utilized properly to have an impact on regional economic improvements. This research aimed to design a dissemination model for mobile money application in rural communities, especially in Tasikmalaya District, in three sub-districts: Singaparna, Rajapolah, and Ciawi, using a structured approach through Soft System Methodology (SSM). The model must be built in a system, through a four-layered model, with components for each layer: a) Layer-1 consists of values, infrastructure (network, smartphone, merchant), customer capabilities, & regulations; b) Layer-2 consists of institutional support (local government and related agencies); c) Feature, communities, and communication media; d) Sweetener program. In the implementation process, layer-1's readiness is a priority that must be met first, followed by layer-2, layer-3, and layer-4's readiness. Keywords: dissemination model, soft system methodology, mobile money, Tasikmalaya

Abstract

This research aimed to study bamboo biomass renewable energy development cultivated in community forests in Indonesia, especially in those frontiers, outermost, and least developed regions often referred to as 3T regions. Community empowerment refers to the process of enabling communities to increase control over their lives. The study was conducted in three villages of Matotonan, Madobag, and Saliguma in Siberut Island, Mentawai Islands District, West Sumatra Province. This study's design was descriptive by conducting a field survey, using a systematic random sampling method with the interview and questionnaire technique to obtain primary data on electricity demand and demographic factors. The key success indicators were then generated using the Strategic Assumption Surfacing and Testing (SAST) method to analyze the FGD. The biomass energy development without community empowerment and the presence of PLN at subsidized rates would not succeed. The renewable energy of bamboo forest biomass characterizes the need for community participation to be involved in operations. Without community empowerment, the community would not have the ability to pay electricity bills even if subsidized. No income distribution would also result in not achieving the main objectives of this project's development, which is sustainable development for rural communities in the 3T regions. Keywords: renewable energy, bamboo biomass, community empowerment, community forestry, sustainable development

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the performance of SRI-KEHATI, lq45, and JII weekly data set from 2009 to 2020, covering 100 companies' stocks as members of the indices. Data were standardized within index weighting, followed by non-parametric methods as they were not as susceptible to outliers as the parametric tests were. The performance evaluation used both Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. The result showed that SRI- KEHATI had the largest average risk and returns, among others, supported by the fact that investors will choose stocks or indices based on financial aspects and values on ethics, religiosity, and liquidity aspects. It also showed that SRI-KEHATI is best suited for collecting financial, social, and ethical returns at the same time. We also found out from the Mann-Whitney U test that one of the reasons for SRI-KEHATI's performance was due to the major allocation to the four major banks. There was a significant difference between SRI-KEHATI and the performance of the four banks that have been the stock movers all the way, so investors could select the cherry-picking strategy focusing on those stocks instead. This study has managerial implications for investors and fund managers looking for competitive returns amongst three indices where SRI investment is favorable, targeting higher return and awareness of the higher risk and volatilities.
