Abstract

In times of crisis, a decline in company performance can potentially be the cause of bankruptcy. The study of financial distress and turnaround has a close relationship, because the successful turnaround is determined from efforts to overcome the company's problems with financial distress. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that significantly influence the transition of financial performance and also to formulate managerial implications related to the success of turnaround in mining and agriculture sub-sector companies. The logistic regression method (logit) is used to discriminate samples of companies with the distressed category and also the turnaround category. The results of the study show that the transition of the company's financial performance is influenced by the variables of company size, level of distress and industry type. Alternative strategies that have been formulated consist of efficiency and entrepreneurial oriented strategies. Based on studies that have been conducted, the agricultural sector has a better probability of transition than the mining sector.JEL Classification: C01, C58, G01, G33DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/jkdp.v23i3.2755

Abstract

Distribution of microcredits has a great opportunity, considering micro-businesses in Indonesia reaches 98 percent of all types of businesses. Microlending has become the leading market share for BPRs to channel their funds. This research aims to identify factors that effect the increase of micro-credit disbursements. This study uses a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method with a type of monthly time series data from 2012 to 2018. The sample of this study is the Rural Credit Banks. The results of this study explain that the BPR non-performing loan (NPL) variable, both in the long term and short term, does not significantly influence the increase in micro-credit distribution. In contrast, the variable spread in the short term and long term shows a significant positive effect on increasing microcredit distribution. Forecasting for variable increases in credit distribution fluctuates with a downward trend. The NPL variable has an increasing trend, and it is projected that the next 90 months will reach 12 percent. The spread variable has a downward trend for the next 40 months which then the trend will continue to increase for the next 90 months. Abstract

Rice is a strategic commodity, so efforts to increase its production continue to be carried out, one of which is by increasing fertilization efficiency. The government has set policies in the field of fertilization, one of which is to provide fertilizer recommendations for rice plants based on specific location. The objective of this research was to evaluate the fertilization policy written in Permentan RI No. 40/Permentan/OT.140/4/2007. The methods were analyzing the variance values for each type of fertilizer recommended and validating N, P, and K levels in selected locations. The results of the study showed that the fertilization recommendations set by the government still need to be improved because there were still many discrepancies with conditions in the field. The adjustment of recommendation dose with the addition of organic materials were relevant and can be implemented, but it is still required further socialization to farmers. Reformulation of subsidized fertilizers, from NPK fertilizer 15-15-15 to NPK fertilizer 15-10-12 also had not been able to increase fertilization efficiency, because it actually made the dose of NPK becomes higher, but did not reduce the addition of a single fertilizer significantly. Subsidy policy also needs to be reviewed, because farmers did not fully get subsidized fertilizer so the farmers could not meet the needs of their fertilizers. Regarding the implementation of fertilization information, a soil big database must be created nationally to make specific location fertilization recommendations, and this must be easily accessed by farmers. Abstract

Indonesia needed to be cautious of import surge since it has potential to influence import value and price in the era of trade globalization. The main purpose of this reasearch was to examine whether import surge occurred for horticulture commodities in Indonesia, especially for potato. The methods used for identifying occurrence of import surge was based on Special Safeguard Mechanism framework of World Trade Organization which will strengthened with Vector Error Correction Model to analyse the impact of import surge to domestic prices. Based on Special Safeguard Mechanism framework, volume-based Special Safeguard Mechanism triggered in almost all year during 2002-2012 but price-based Special Safeguard Mechanism is not triggered in those years. Based on Impuls Response Function analysis, the impact of import surge shock to domestic price was relatively low but occurred permanently. Based on Forecast Error Variance Decomposition analysis, import surge variables contributed slightly to the domestic price variability but it tend to increased as time. Abstract

Horticulture is one of the agricultural sub-sector consisting of vegetables, fruits, biofarmaka mplants (medicinal plants) and floriculture (ornamentals) became one of the commodities subject of international trade, which the demand is increasing in line with increasing household income and growth population. During the period 2005-2014, the average growth value of horticultural exports of developing countries amounted to 69,81 percent higher than the average growth of exports in developed countries as big as 40,78 percent. The global trading of horticulture is faced with price volatility and trade barriers problems. In addition, the increasing demand of these commodities also in line with the increase in household incomes and population growth. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the competitiveness of horticulture commodities in the international market and the factors that influence trade flow. The results of Export Product Dynamic (EPD) show that there are two horticultural export commodity that has dynamic market position in world market, there are bananas (HS.080300) and pineapples (HS.080430). Generally, the panel data analysis results show that prices, trade barriers, population, real GDP per capita, economic distances, and real exchange rates significantly affect export volumes. Abstract

There have been growing concerns about the effects of food safety standards on agricultural trade throughout the world. One of the food safety standards applied in international trade is the adoption of maximum residue limits of pesticides. This research uses panel gravity model to analyze the effect of maximum residual limit (MRL) of pesticides imposed by importing countries on export of Indonesia’s medicinal plant products. The results show that stringent food safety standards imposed by importing countries have a negative and statistically significant effect on Indonesia’s export of medicinal plant products. The results also show that volume of Indonesia’s medicinal plant products exports are influenced by real GDP of exporter and importer, population, production, economic distance, and ad valorem tariff. Abstract

The prices of red chili and red onion commodities tend to fluctuate and have high margin rates, causing inefficiency of prices. On the other hand, the demand for red chili and red onion will increase as the number of population increases. This study aimed to analyze the factors and behaviors that can affect the pricing system on red onion and red chili in East Jakarta by using the Vector Error Correction Model and Game Theory. The results showed that the producer and wholesale prices of red onion and red chili commodities contribute to the price discovery at the consumer level. Maximum profit is achieved by retail merchants when they adopt prices in collusion as a dominant strategy. Keywords: red onion, red chili, game theory, price, VECM

Abstract

Indonesia still has tremendous opportunities to utilize and develop the potential of fisheries optimally. The government through DAK Marine and Fisheries Sector helps fund the physical development activities in the field of marine and fisheries to support fishery production. The effectiveness of DAK disbursement from the government to various regions becomes very important to accelerate the process of marine and fisheries development. The purposes of this research are as follows: (1) analyzing the constraints of DAK Marine and Fisheries Sector distribution; (2) analyzing the impact of DAK Marine and Fisheries Sector distribution; and (3) formulating the strategies needed to improve the effectiveness of DAK Marine and Fisheries Sector distribution. The processing techniques and data analysis in this research included data panel data regression analysis with Fixed Effect Model (FEM) method using Eviews 8 software and analysis of strategy formulation using Strengths - Weakness – Opportunities – Threats (SWOT) matrix. Based on the results of Regression, DAK Fishing Capture variables have no significant effects on Capture Fishery Production, while DAK Fishery Aquaculture variables have significant effects on Aquaculture Production. The results of formulation of alternative strategies using SWOT matrix exhibit the position point of IFE and EFE score points at the quadrant position III (Turn Around). The recommended strategy is the WO strategy i.e. to minimize the weaknesses to take advantages of opportunities. Keywords: DAK KP, effectiveness, FEM, SWOT Matrix, WO strategy
