Abstract

The concept of good corporate governance (GCG) has not been fully implemented by most business actors which is reflected in the assessment results of the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard. The study aims to analyze the impact of external and internal factors including the implementation of GCG on the profitability and firm value in the LQ45 index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The econometric model is built as a system of simultaneous equations and estimated by using the Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) method and the impact simulation analysis policy. The result shows impact of decrease in gross domestic product is greater than increase in inflation. Furthermore if the decrease in gross domestic product or the increase in inflation that is resolved by company policies by improving corporate governance, making efficiency by reducing operational costs, and increasing total assets, have greater impact than the company resolved by improving corporate governance and making efficiency by reducing the cost of goods sold. Keywords: econometric model, external and internal factors, firm value, good corporate governance, profitability

Abstract

This study aims to briefly review the thoughts of Jurgen Habermas, the German philosopher at the Frankfurt School of Religion with his critical philosophy, especially those concerning social thoughts by comparing them to management science so that management science in theory and practice can be critical. Data processing uses descriptive analysis with a deconstruction paradigm, looking more sharply to give new and critical meanings to the interpretation of Habermas' thought. The text is understood and rearranged from a different perspective of thought, after discovering the foundation and philosophical structure of Habermas' thought, the researcher contributes thoughts in management science so that he can include it in the implementation of the Mondragon company. The results of this study prove that the idea of critical management science supports people's views regarding profitability and the strategy of the Mondragon company in a brief conceptualization reflecting the vision, mission, and values that adhere to humanity, equality of emancipatory values , and solidarity. The managerial implications are addressed by methods that are democratic and prioritize the social side to increase profitability Keywords: habermas, strategic management, democratic, mondragon

Abstract

Over the last few years, Indonesian Islamic banking has experienced positive development, but there has been a dramatic dip in the growth of the assets and deposits of commercial Islamic banks. This indicates possible inefficiencies in these banks, and the sharp decline in the growth of their assets needs to be assessed in terms of efficiency and Islamic values, which are considered to be able to enhance performance. This research examines conventional and Islamic bank performance in terms of efficiency with data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the maqasid shariah index (MSI) with simple additive weighting (SAW) analysis, using data from fourteen commercial Islamic banks and four commercial conventional banks over the period 2007 to 2018. The results show that conventional banks were more efficient than Islamic ones, except in the financial crisis period, when the efficiency of Islamic banks was higher. In addition, the maqasid shariah index of conventional banks was lower than that of Islamic ones, although the index for Islamic banks was still very low. Furthermore, the study also found that the greater the level of total assets, the higher the maqasid shariah. Keywords: banking performance, commercial islamic banks, efficiency, maqasid shariah index

Abstract

The establishment of a national innovation system is necessary to encourage innovation and socio-economic development. The most important thing in the innovation system is the collaboration of academic, business, community, and government in the innovation ecosystem. The purpose of this study is to determine the actors involved from each entity in the innovation ecosystem, the relationship between actors, and the impact of the relationship between actors. Through case study research method with the object of research at Bandung Techno Park at Telkom University, this study investigates the mutual relationship between entities. Value network analysis is then used to model the innovation ecosystem. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection through interviews with 14 speakers representing each entity. The research results obtained that not all entities have actors who involved in the innovation ecosystem. Some obstacles such as the quality of research, lack of researchers’ ability to see market conditions so that innovative products are considered not following the needs of consumers and industries in Indonesia that dominated by agricultural-based industries becomes a difficulty in commercializing technological innovation through licensing. This research shows that BTP’s role as Technology Transfer Officer still has shortcomings to align the results of research from academic with business needs. In addition, government regulation has not fully sided with domestic technological innovations to develop. Keywords: university, innovation ecosystem, value network analysis, qualitative method, techno park.
