Abstract

ABSTRACTThe plants (Crecentia cujete Linn) Are known to have antibacterial activity and can be used as a diarrhea drug due to microorganisms. Bacillus cereus is one of the bacteria that causes diarrhea.This aims to the study was antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of leaves (EL) and bark broodstock (EB) on Bacillus cereus. EL and EB were extracted with ethanol 96% using maceration method. Antibacterial activity test was carried out with disk diffusion method in EL with a concentration of 30%, 60%, 90%, 120% and 150%, and in EB using concentrations of 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% and 100% then antibacterial activity measurements were taken. by looking at the Diameter of the Inhibitory Area (DDH). The results of the EL and EB of antibacterial activity proved that EL and EB berenuk have antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus.Keywords: Antibacterial, Crescentia cujete Linn, Bacillus cereus.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The nanoparticle system encapsulates and protects flavonoids of suji leaves from photolysis and oxidation instability. Chitosan is a biocompatible, biodegradable and non-toxic nanoparticles forming polymer. Ultrasonication is a materials mixing technique under high vibration energy. The ultrasonication time affects the particle size. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the ultrasonication time on physical characteristics of chitosan nanoparticles of suji (Pleomele angustifolia) leaf ethanol extract and its physical stability after cycling test. Ethanol extract of suji leaves (EEDS) was obtained by maceration using 70% ethanol. Chitosan EEDS nanoparticles were made under ionic gelation method using an ultrasonication time of 3 minutes (FI), 6 minutes (FII), and 9 minutes (FIII). The physical characterization of nanoparticles includes particle size, polydispersity index, and zeta potential. Chitosan EEDS nanoparticles with the best physical characteristics (FIII) were tested for stability using cycling test method. The data obtained were analyzed using the Anova statistical method with a 95% confidence level. The size of EEDS chitosan nanoparticles (nm) was significantly different in all formulas, FI (374.47), FII (288.43), and FIII (233.37). The polydispersity index of FI (0.38) and FIII (0.65) were significantly different, while FII (0.41) was not significantly different. The zeta potential (mV) FI (51.70), FII (46.10), and FIII (48.60) were not significantly different in all formulas. The physical characteristics of Formula III after Cycling Test showed a particle size of 455.0 nm, a polydispersity index of 0.174, and a zeta potential of 20.1 mV. Abstract

Cherry leaves extract contain flavonoids which function as anti-inflammatory can be formed into stick balm preparations. The Stick balm is a preparation in the form of a stick consisting of a mixture of oil, wax and fat with a composition such that it can produce hardness and melting pont of as needed. The different properties of fatty acids in each type of oil can affect the physical properties of the balsam stick preparation in the form of melting point and hardness. This study aimed to determine the effect of adding olive oil, virgin coconut oil, castor oil, jojoba oil on the physical properties of the stick balm of Muntingia calabura L leaf extract. Physical characteristic of stick balm includes organolepti, homogeneity, melting point, hardness, and pH test. The results showed that all formulas met the physical characteristics of stick balms but each formula had differences in melting point, hardness, adhesion, and pH. The formula with the addition of olive oil showed the highest melting points and hardness at 55.3ºC and 8.16 mm. The results of statistical data was sig <0.05. This means that there are differences in melting point and hardness in each equation. Based on obeservations, it was concluded that the addition of vegetable oil to the balsam stick formulation affected the melting point and hardness.

Abstract

INTISARI  Buah mengkudu dipercaya dapat meningkatkan stamina. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan adanya efek tonikum ekstrak etanol buah mengkudu (EEBM) terhadap mencit jantan galur Swiss dan mengidentifikasi adanya senyawa golongan flavonoid yang terkandung dalam ekstrak tersebut. Ekstraksi buah mengkudu dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%.  Uji kandungan senyawa golongan flavonoid dilakukan  dengan  pereaksi  FeCl3  dan kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT).  Penelitian  ini  adalah  penelitian  eksperimental  dengan  pretest-posttest matched control group design.  Percobaan  uji  efek  tonikum  dilakukan  menggunakan metode natatory exhaustion. Mencit sebanyak duapuluh lima ekor dibagi menjadi lima kelompok. Mencit kelompok I, II, dan III diberi EEBM (160, 400, dan 800) mg/kgBB. Mencit kelompok IV diberi  kafein 100 mg/kgBB  (kontrol  positif)  dan mencit  kelompok V diberi  CMC-Na 0,5% 25 mL/kgBB (kontrol negatif). Sediaan uji diberikan per oral selama 14 hari. Analisis data dilakukan dengan  cara membandingkan waktu  bertahan  berenang mencit  sebelum  dan  sesudah  perlakuan menggunakan  uji  Wilcoxon  dan  uji  t-berpasangan. Analisis data adanya perbedaan efek antar kelompok perlakuan menggunakan  uji Kruskal-Wallis dilanjutkan dengan uji Mann-Whitney dengan taraf  kepercayaan 90%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa EEBM dosis 400 mg/kgBB             (p<0,1) dan 800 mg/kgBB (p<0,1) terbukti  mempunyai  efek  tonikum.  Senyawa  golongan flavonoid berhasil ditemukan dalam EEBM. Kata  kunci  :  ekstrak etanol buah mengkudu  (Morinda citrifolia  L.), tonikum,  natatory exhaustion, flavonoid    ABSTRACT Noni fruit is believed can increase stamina. The purpose of this study was to prove the tonic effect of  noni  fruit ethanol extracts  (NFEE) to the male Swiss mice and identify flavonoid compound contained in the extract. Noni fruit extracted by the maceration method in ethanol 70%. Identification of flavonoid compound conducted with FeCl3 reagents and thin layer chromatography (TLC). This research is experimentally with  pretest-posttest matched control group design. The tonic effect assay conducted with natatory exhaustion method. Twenty-five mice divided  into five groups. Mice in group I, II, and III treated with NFEE (160, 400, and 800) mg/kg BW. Mice in group IV treated with caffeine 100 mg/kg BW (positive control) and group V treated with CMC-Na 0.5% 25 ml/kg BW (negative control). The test preparation given for 14 days orally. Data of survival time swam mice before and after treatment analyzed  statistically with Wilcoxon test and paired t-test. Data was analyzed for different effect intergroup treatment with Kruskal-Wallis and then with Mann-Whitney at 90% confidence level.  The result showed that NFEE (400 and 800) mg/kg BW have a tonic effect (p<0,1). Abstract

INTISARI  Penelitian sebelumnya membuktikan bahwa infus rambut dan jus biji jagung memiliki efek antihipertensi pada tikus jantan sehingga dapat dikembangkan dalam bentuk ekstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan efek antihipertensi ekstrak etanol kombinasi rambut dan biji jagung (EEK-RBJ) pada tikus hipertensi yang diinduksi monosodium glutamat  (MSG). EEK-RBJ dibuat menggunakan metode maserasi. Tikus hipertensi dibuat dengan cara pemberian MSG 100 mg/kgBB/hari selama 14 hari sampai tekanan darah sistol   ≥  155 mmHg. Tikus hipertensi yang digunakan sebanyak 25 ekor, dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol hipertensi (CMC-Na 0,5% 12,5 mL/kgBB/hari), kelompok furosemid 5,04 mg/kgBB/hari), dan kelompok EEK-RBJ (125, 250 dan 500) mg/kgBB/hari. Sediaan uji diberikan satu kali sehari selama 14 hari (p.o). Data yang diamati adalah perbedaan tekanan darah sistol dan diastol sebelum dan setelah pemberian sediaan uji serta perbedaan penurunan tekanan darah. Data perbedaan tekana darah dianalisa secara statistik menggunakan uji t-berpasangan atau  uji  Wilcoxon  (P: 0,95). Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa EEK-RBJ (125, 250 dan 500) mg/Kg BB/hari selama 14 hari mampu menurunkan tekanan darah sistol dan diastol tikus hipertensi dengan pola tergantung dosis. EEK-RBJ 500 mg/Kg BB/hari dapat menurunkan tekanan darah sistol dan diastol tikus hipertensi yang diinduksi MSG berturut-turut sebesar 20,04 mmHg dan 13,16 mmHg. Kata Kunci: Efek antihipertensi, ekstrak kombinasi, rambut dan biji jagung, MSG  ABSTRACT   In previous studies, infusion of silk and corn seed combination have antihypertensive effects, so it can develop in the form of extracts. The purpose of this study is to reveal the antihypertensive effect of a silk and seed corn ethanol extract (SSC-EE) on MSG-induced hypertensive rats. SSC-EE produced with maceration. MSG 100 mg/kg BW/day for 14 days orally used to induce hypertension condition in male Wistar rats until systolic blood pressure ≥ 150 mmHg. Twenty-five of hypertensive rats divided into five groups. Hypertensive rats in Group I treated with CMC-Na 0.5% 12.5 mL/kg BW/day and group II treated with Furosemide 5.04 mg/kg BW/day. Meanwhile, group III, IV and V treated with SSC-EE (125, 250 and 500) mg/kg BW/day. SSC-EE was treated orally once daily for 14 days. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure, before and after of extracts treatment and blood pressure decline was observed and analyzed statistically using paired t-test or Wilcoxon test (P: 0.95). The results show that SSC-EE (125, 250 and 500) mg/Kg BW/day for 14 days can decrease the MSG-induced hypertensive rats systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p<0.05) with the dose-dependent manner. SSC-EE 500 mg/Kg BW/day decrease the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of 20.04 mmHg and 13.16 mmHg, respectively. Keywords: Antihypertensive effect, combination extract, silk and seed corn, MSG

Abstract

ABSTRACT Excessive Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) can cause hypertension. Prevention of the risk of hypertension is consume an antioxidant. Noni (Morinda citrifolia L). is a plant that empirically proven to lower blood pressure and has antioxidant activity. Antihypertensive activity of noni leaves is influenced by phenolic and flavonoid compounds. The extraction method affects the levels of compound in extracts. The aims of study is determine the effect of the extraction method on the total phenolic level, total flavonoid level and antioxidant activity of noni leaf extract. The extraction methods are maceration, Microwave Assisted Extraction and Soxhlet. The results showed that the different extraction methods affected the total phenol level, total flavonoid level and antioxidant activity of the noni leaf extract. The Soxlet method provides the highest total phenolic level, total flavonoid level and antioxidant activity than other extraction methods. Abstract

INTISARI Antioksidan merupakan salah satu penangkal radikal bebas.  Ekstrak metanol kulit  buah rambutan yang mengandung senyawa fenolik seperti asam ellagat, corilagin dan geraniin berpotensi sebagai  antioksidan. Kosmetika wajah tersedia dalam berbagai bentuk sediaan, salah satunya berbentuk masker gel  peel-off.  Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui  aktivitas antioksidan dan uji iritasi sediaan masker gel ekstrak metanol kulit buah rambutan. Tahapan penelitian diawali dengan pencarian bahan, pembuatan ekstrak kulit buah rambutan, uji DPPH ekstrak, pembuatan sediaan masker gell peel-off, uji DPPH sediaan, dan uji iritasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan IC50 ekstrak sebesar 6,6771 μg/mL, IC50 sediaan masker gel peel-off pada F0, F1, F2, F3 yang dimana F0 tidak mengandung ekstrak, F1 mengandung 50 mg ekstrak, F2= 150 mg ekstrak, F3= 250 mg ektrask didapat hasil IC50 berturut-turut 8,867; 6,655; 6,786; 6,598 μg/mL. Uji iritasi sediaan masker kulit buah rambutan untuk F0 terdapat eritema pada kelinci 1 dan 2 di jam ke-24 dan 48 sedangkan pada kelinci 3 pada jam ke-24. Untuk F1 dan F2 eritema terjadi pada jam ke-24 dan 48 untuk kelinci 1, semua jam pada kelinci 2 dan jam ke-24 pada kelinci 3. Eritema yang terjadi pada F3 terdapat pada kelinci 2 di jam ke-24, 48 dan 72. Edema tidak terjadi pada setiap formula di semua kelinci. Kata Kunci:  Kulit Buah Rambutan,  Antioksidan,  Masker Gel ABSTRACT Antioxidants are one of the free-radical  scavengers. Methanol extract of   rambutan  peel containing phenolic compounds such as acids ellagat, corilagin and geraniin potential as antioxidants. Facial cosmetics are  available in a variety of dosage forms, one of which shaped peel-off mask gel. The purpose of this study to determine the antioxidant activity and irritation test preparation gel mask methanol extract of   rambutan peel. Research stage begins with the search for materials, manufacturing of rambutan peel extracts, extracts DPPH test, preparation of a peel-off mask gell, DPPH test preparation, and irritation test. The results showed the extract inhibition concentration  is 6.6771 µg / mL;  inhibition concentration of gel peel-off mask at F0, F1, F2, F3 where F0 does not contain extracts, F1containing 50 mg of extract, F2 = 150 mg extract; F3 = 250 results  inhibition concentration obtained mg ektrask respectively 8.867; 6.655; 6.786; 6.598 µg / mL. Skin irritation test preparation rambutan mask to F0 are erythema in rabbits 1 and 2 at the 24th hour and 48 while in rabbits 3 at the 24th hour. For F1 and F2 erythema occurred at the 24th hour and 48 for rabbits 1, all hours of the rabbit 2 and the 24th hour in rabbits 3. Abstract

ABSTRACT   Staphylococcus aureus is one of the  acne-causing bacteria. 1,8 cineole is the content of eucalyptus leaves oil which has antibacterial activity Staphylococcus aureus. This research  aimed to examine the effective consentration of eucalyptus leaves oil as an Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 antibacterial. Eucalyptus leaves oil made in series a concentration of 5%, 7,5% and 10% for antibacterial activity  test  using the  pitting  diffusion method. Based on the test result of antibacterial activity gained an average diameter of inhibition zone eucalyptus leaves oil successively 1,286 cm; 1,424 cm; 1,574 cm. The statistically test  results showed significant difference in the antibacterial activity of eucalyptus leaves oil in concentrations 5%, 7,5% and 10% to the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213. Eucalyptus leaves oil has an effective concentration of 10% as an antibacterial stapgylocuccus aureus and made cream formula. Test of antibacterial activity obtained resistibility zone diameter 1,136 cm. The result of t-test indicated that cream formula has significant effect on antibacterial activity.
