Abstract

Hydrotrope solutions provide safe and effective media for the microwave assisted extraction of andrographolide, the major bioactive chemical constituent of plant Andrographis paniculata. Microwave assisted extraction of androgpaholide was carried out by using hydrotropes, sodium benzoate and urea. The objective of this work were to determine the Minimum Hydrotrope Concentration (MHC) and to determine the effectiveness of each hydrotrope with respect to andrographolide at different system powers. The microwave assisted extractions of andrographolide were carried out at different concentration of hydrotropes (0.2-3M) and different system powers (39.9 and 119.7 Watt). Twenty grams of Andrographis paniculata dried powder were added to 200 ml of hydrotrope solutions and extracted in a microwave extractor for 15 minutes. The research result showed that the percentage of the microwave assisted extraction of andrographolide by using sodium benzoate and urea were up to 10.9% and 1.05% respectively. The Minimum Hydrotrope Concentration and the effectiveness of hydrotropes that was measured in term of Setschenow constant (Ks) were reported for two hydrotropes used in this study.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan efek ekstrak etanol biji kedelai (EEBK) dalam menghambat peningkatan kadar kolesterol total, kenaikan berat badan dan jumlah asupan pakan tikus obesitas yang diinduksi MSG. Tujuan lainnya adalah membandingkan berat organ (jantung, hati, ginjal dan limfa) tikus dengan berat organ tikus kelompok kontrol obesitas dan mengidentifikasi kandungan senyawa aktif flavonoid, saponin dan protein dalam EEBK.  Ekstrak diperoleh dengan cara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Sediaan uji terdiri dari tiga peringkat dosis EEBK (1,125; 2,250 dan 4,500) g/kgBB/hari, CMC-Na 12,5mL/KgBB/hari (kontrol obesitas), simvastatin 10 mg/KgBB/hari dan Orlistat 10,8 mg/KgBB/hari. Sediaan uji diberikan satu kali sehari selama 14 hari, 30 menit setelah pemberian MSG 100 mg/KgBB/hari. Metode CHOD-PAP digunakan untuk mengukur kadar kolesterol tikus. Sementara itu, data berat badan, asupan pakan dan data berat badan organ diperoleh dengan cara penimbangan. Data dianalisis secara statitstik dengan menggunakan uji beda pada taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa EEBK mampu menghambat peningkatan kadar kolesterol total, kenaikan berat badan, asupan pakan tikus jantan galur Wistar yang diinduksi MSG. Berat organ (jantung, hati, ginjal dan limfa) tikus yang mendapatkan perlakuan EEBK 4,500g/kgBB/hari lebih ringan dibandingkan dengan tikus kontrol obesitas. Senyawa aktif golongan flavonoid, saponin serta protein berhasil teridentifikasi dalam EEBK.  Kata kunci: Antiobesitas, ekstrak etanol biji kedelai, kolesterol total, MSG

Abstract

ABSTRAK             Penelitian sebelumnya telah mengungkap efek larvasida ekstrak etanol daun kirinyuh (Eupatorium inulifolium Kunth.) terhadap larva nyamuk Aedes aegypti. Ekstrak ini selanjutnya dapat dikembangkan dalam bentuk sediaan sand granules sehingga mudah digunakan sebagai larvasida alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan formula sand granules ekstrak etanol daun Eupatorium inulifolium Kunth (EEDE) yang memenuhi standar karakteristik fisik granul dan menguji efek larvasidanya pada larva nyamuk Aedes aegypti. Sand granules EEDE dibuat dengan metode  granulasi basah dengan variasi konsentrasi kollidon (1%-5%), explotab (1%-3%) dan sacharum lactis (78,44%-84,44%). Karakteristik fisik berbagai formula Sand granules EEDE yang diuji adalah kecepatan alir dan sudut diam. Uji efek larvasida dilakukan pada 25 ekor larva instar III nyamuk Aedes aegypti selama 24 jam dengan replikasi sebanyak 5 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua formula Sand granules EEDE (F1-F5) memenuhi standar karakteristik fisik dengan kecepatan alir (16,69-19,35) g/detik dan sudut diam granul 32,94°-35,76°. F1-F5 juga memiliki efek larvasida terhadap larva nyamuk Aedes aegypti dengan persentase kematian larva dalam 24 jam sebesar (33,0-39,2) %. Akan tetapi, efek larvasida tersebut lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan EEDE 670 ppm (49,6%) dan Temefos® 0,01 ppm (100,0%). Hasil penelitian ini juga menyimpulkan bahwa proses pembuatan sand granules akan menyebabkan penurunan efek larvasida EEDE. Kata Kunci: Daun kirinyuh, efek larvasida, karakteristik fisik, sand granules  ABSTRACT Previous studies reported Eupatorium inulifolium Kunth. leaves ethanol extract (ELEE) have a larvicidal effect on Aedes aegypti larvae. This extract can be developed into sand granules formulation, making it easy to use as a natural larvicidal. This study means to obtain the ELEE sand granules formula that meets the granule's physical characteristics standard, and asses it's a larvicidal effect on Aedes aegypti larvae. Sand granules of ELEE produced with the wet granulation method. The differences between formulas are variations of Kollidon (1%-5%), Explotab (1%-3%), and Saccharum Lactis (78.44%-84.44%) concentration. The physical characteristics of the various KLEE sand granules formulas observed are flow rate and angle of repose. The assay of the ELEE larvicidal effect was carried out on twenty-five Aedes aegypti Instar III larvae for 24 hours with five replications. The results showed that all ELEE sand granules formulas (F1-F5) met the physical characteristics standard, with a flow rate (16.69-19.35) g/sec and an angle of repose 32.94 °-35.76°. F-F5 also had larvicidal effects on Aedes aegypti larvae, with larval mortality within 24 hours (33.0-39.2) %. However, their larvicidal effect is slight compared to ELEE 670 ppm (49.6%) and Temefos® 0.01 ppm (100.0%). This study also concludes that the process of sand granules preparation will diminish the larvicidal effects of ELEE. Keywords: Kirinyuh leaves, larvacidal effect, physical characteristics, sand granules

Abstract

The exploration of several active compounds of medicinal plants Aegle marmelos Correa (Rutaceae) have found marmin that strongly inhibit the histamine release from mast cells. The present study investigated the antagonism phenomena of marmin on 5-hydroxy triptamine and histamine receptors in guinea-pig ileum smooth muscle. The study was performed using isolated-organ technique in Tyrode buffer medium. The agonists used to sensitize the receptors were histamine and 5-hydroxy triptamine. The type of antagonism was identified by considering: 1). the decrease of pD2 or Emax values of agonists due to pretreatment of marmin, and 2) Schild regression method. In the study, marmin (10 and 100 mM) decreased the maximum contraction effect of 5-HT by 40% and 60%, respectively. However, marmin did not influence the pD2 value of 5-HT . On the other side, marmin did not influence the maximum contraction effect of histamine, however, decreased the pD2 value of histamine. Based on Schild regression method, the pA2 value of marmin was 0.8016. In conclusion, marmin non-competitively antagonized 5-HT 4 receptor, and competitively antagonized histamine receptor in ileum smooth muscle.

Abstract

merupakan kelompok usaha pembuatan batik khas Grobogan yang berlokasi di Pulorejo Grobogan. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi oleh KUB Flamboyan adalah KUB Flamboyan tidak memiliki instalasi pengolahan limbah serta batik diproduksi dengan pewarna sintesis. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah menerapkan instalasi pengolahan limbah dengan sistem penjerapan bertingkat serta memberikan pelatihan penggunaan pewarna alami pada produksi batik KUB Flamboyan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan jika KUB flamboyan berhasil memahami dan menerapkan penggunaan pewarna alami pada produksi batiknya serta dihasilkan desain instalasi pengolahan limbah menggunakan prinsip adsorpsi bertingkat. Abstract

Hiperpigmentasi pada kulit telah terbukti dapat diatasi dengan ekstrak etanol daun pare (Momordica charantia L.) (EEDP) secara invitro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan efek antihiperpigmentasi EEDP pada kulit Guinea pig (Cavia porcellus). Peneitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan randomized matched post test only control group design. Proses ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan cairan penyari etanol 70%. Dua puluh lima ekor Guinea pig dipapar sinar ultraviolet B 2 menit/hari selama 2 minggu, kemudian dibagi ke dalam 5 kelompok. Kelompok negatif diberi dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO); kelompok positif diberi krim farma yang mengandung hydroquinone 4%, tretinoin 0,05%, and fluocinolone acetonide 0,01%; serta kelompok perlakuan diberi EEDP 200, 400, and 600 ppm. Seluruh perlakuan diberikan sekali sehari selama 2 minggu kemudian dilakukan biopsi jaringan. Uji histopatologi dilakukan menggunakan pewarnaan fontana-masion dan nuclear fast red. Perbedaan jumlah melanin pada seluruh kelompok dianalisa menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis, diikuti dengan Mann-Whitney dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Data menunjukkan bahwa EEDP terbukti mempunyai efek antihiperpigmentasi dan seluruh kelompok EEDP mempunyai efek yang lebih baik dibanding dengan sediaan krim farma.Kata Kunci : Antihiperpigmentasi, Daun Pare, Guinea pig, Melanin.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hypertension is one of the degenerative disease of health problem  in among people. Bilimbi leaves (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is one of plants which is have antihypertension effect and contains phytol, dietil phtalat, flavonoid.  This research is aimed  to know influence of ethanol extract of bilimbi leaves (EEBL)   through its on the increase of the antihypertensive effect of captopril in hypertensive rats. This research used a pre-test and post-test matched control group design.   Sample were 30 male Wistar rats  treated with MSG 100 mg/kgBW/day (po) for 14 days to induce hypertension. Hypertensive rats were divided into six treatment groups are  hypertension control group (0.5% CMC-Na 12.5 mL/kgBW/day) and positive control group (captopril 2.5 mg/kgBW/day), and treatment hypertensive rats EEBL (60 and 120) mg/kgBW/day, combination of EEBL-captopril (60+2.5)mg/kgBW/day and combination EEBL-captopril (120+2.5) mg/kgBW/day.  Suspension test were given for 14 days. Observed data is a decrease in blood pressure after giving of the suspension test. Data analysis was performed with the parametric t-test paired and nonparametric Wilcoxon with 95% level of confidence. The result shows that MSG can be as inducer of hypertension. EEBL (60 and 120) mg/kgBW/day has antihypertensive effect. The increase antihypertensive effect of captopril on systolic blood pressure is showed in the treatment EEBL 120 mg/kgBW/day.   Keywords: Hypertension, Monosodium glutamate, Averrhoa bilimbi L.

Abstract

INTISARI Senyawa flavonoid dalam daun kelor diduga mampu meningkatkan kelarutan kalsium batu ginjal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan kemampuan ekstrak metanol (EMDK) dan ekstrak etanol daun kelor (EEDK) dalam meningkatkan kelarutan kalsium  batu ginjal secara  in vitro. Daun kelor diekstrak dengan cara maserasi menggunakan cairan penyari metanol dan etanol 70%. Kandungan senyawa aktif golongan flavonoid diidentifikasi secara kualitatif dengan KLT. Serbuk batu ginjal direndam dalam seri konsentrasi EMDK dan EEDK (2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, dan 10%) dan diinkubasi selama 6 jam pada suhu 37 0C. Kadar kalsium terlarut dianalisis dengan SSA pada panjang gelombang 422,7 nm. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa EMDK (2-10)% dan EEDK (4-10)% mampu meningkatkan kelarutan kalsium batu ginjal secara  in vitro  (p≤0,05). Kelarutan kalsium batu ginjal dalam EMDK dan EEDK mengikuti pola tergantung konsentrasi. Kadar kalsium batu ginjal terlarut dalam EMDK dan EEDK berturut-turut berkisar antara (86,27-185,87) ppm dan (95,31-177,29) ppm. Hasil analisis dengan KLT membuktikan bahwa senyawa aktif golongan flavonoid berhasil terdentifikasi dalam EMDK dan EEDK.  Kata Kunci: Batu ginjal kalsium, daun kelor (Moringa oleifera Lam.), flavonoid, maserasi   ABSTRACT Flavonoids  in  kelor leaves  (Moringa oleifera Lam.)  suspected  had  an  important  role  on dissolving  calcium  kidney  stones.  The  purpose  of  this  research  is  to  reveal  the  effect  of  kelor leave's methanol extract (KLME) and ethanol extract (KLEE) on the in vitro solubility of calcium kidney  stones. The kelor leave's  simplisia extracted with  maceration  method.  Methanol and ethanol 70% were  used  as  solvent. An  active  flavonoid  compound  in  KLME  and KLEE has identified  with  TLC  method. Kidney  stone's  powder  soaked  in  KLME  and KLEE  series concentration  (2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%) and  incubated  for  six hours at 37 °C. The dissolved calcium levels from kidney stones in KLME and KLEE were analyzed with AAS at a wavelength of 422.7  nm. The result  showed  that  the  KLME  (2-10) % and KLEE (4-10%)  can  enhance  the dissolved calcium levels from kidney stones in vitro (p<0.05). The dissolved kidney stone's calcium in KLME and KLEE deppend on it’s concentration. The  levels of dissolved calcium  from kidney stones  in KLME  dan KLEE  series  concentration were (86.27-185.87) ppm and (95.31–177.29) ppm repectively. The result of TLC analysis showed that the flavonoid found in KLME dan KLEE.  Keywords:   Calcium kidney stones,  flavonoid, maceration, moringa leaves  (Moringa oleifera  Lam.)

Abstract

ABSTRACTDiabetes Mellitus is a chronicle disease that gives effect to patient well being. Moreover, a complication suffering gives negative effect to the patient. The aim of this research is to identify the life quality of Diabetes Mellitus (type 2) sufferer and the characteristic relating to it quality of life. This research applied descriptive design and performed on the visitors of Policlinic of the interior disease on Tidar Hospital of Magelang during Juli – August 2007. The inclusion criterion is the visitors when this research performed, entering 18 years old or more, of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, any agreement of informed consent and filled up the questionnaire. The sample taking is done by accidental sampling. To measure the life quality is used a questionnaire of Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL), then it continued by measure the quality of life of any patients that involved therapeutic satisfaction, the effect of therapy, the anxiety of diabetes, the anxiety of social problem and the quality of life in general. Every question is measured by the Likert Scale of 5. Of the 50 analyzed patients, 46% is female and 54% is male, with the biggest rate of age is 60-69 years old.The treatment of DM type 2 in Tidar Magelang general hospital for 50 patients who do treatment in the house have good rate life of score. It is 0,599 (it means the quality of life is higher). The lowest score of therapeutic effect is 0,588. Moreover, the highest score of anxiety to the diabetes is 0,616. The male patients and the patient with long duration show the low quality of life. Accordance with the correlation test of Spearman and Kendall is obtained that there was no significant correlation between the patient characteristic and it quality of life. Abstract

ABSTRACT Avocado’s leaves and Curcuma xanthorrizarhizoma contain compounds of flavonoids, alcaloids,triterpenoids and curcumin, where the compounds are effective as antidiabetic agents. This study aims to prove the effect of antidiabetic combination of extracts on insulin resistence type-2 diabetic rats then to compare it with a single extract. This research used pre-test and post-test control group design. The 30 test animals were divided into two treatment groups. Five control groups of rats were they given 1,25 mL aquabides/KgBW/day, and 25 rats were divided into five groups and given were given 1,8 IU insulin/KgBW/day for 14 days. Group I was control of 12,5 mL CMC-Na/KgBW/day 0,5%, group II was positive control of 150 mg metformin/KgBW/day, group III was avocado’s leaves extract, group IV was extract of Curcuma xanthorriza rhizoma, and group V was combination extract. The extracts of group III-V were given the same dose, that was given 200 mg/KgBW/day for 14 days. The meansurement of antidiabetic effect was done by comparing the GDP value of rats before and after treatment. The GDP concentrations of rats were analyzed using T-paired testand Wilxocon test, whereas the comparative data of percentage GDP decrease was tested using Kruskall Wallis test then followed by Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the effect of antidiabetic combination of extract in insulin resistence type-2 diabetic rats as the percentage GDP decrease was 22.03%. The effect of decreasing GDP concentration at the ratio of 1:1 extract did not differ significantly with the single extract of 200 mg Curcuma xanthorrizarhizoma/KgBW/day.
