Abstract

Indonesia is now facing various problems such as moral degradation, corruption, deceitfulness in schools and juvenile delinquency behavior. All of these require a solution. Most education experts argue that the Sufi-style education is one of ways to solve the moral problem. Among them is Ibn Aṭāillāh al- Sakandarī who undeniably has a significant role in this field especially through his famous work, al-Ḥikam. This article tries to uncover how the role of his moral education. It uses descriptive analytical method, in which the author refers to Sufi works that talk about moral education particularly al-Ḥikam. The findings are: first, the Sufi-style moral education is one of moral education methods focusing on self-empowerment and purification. It is hoped to get an improvement and even reach the level of gnosis (ma’rifat) which is in turn able to spread peace in this world. Second, Ibn Athoillah is the Sufis master who has a major role in the improvement of his pupils moral, especially through his work, al-Ḥikam. Third, his thought on Sufistic education can be applied in four stages: teaching, best practice, habituation, and strengthening. Keywords: Ibn ‘Aṭāillāh al-Sakandarī; moral education; al- Ḥikam; mysticism

Abstract

Abstract Planting of character education must be carried out continuously. The characters that have been planted in school must be strengthened in college. The planting of character education must be taught, familiarized, trained consistently, become character and become a culture, so that the planting of education is not only in school, but must be strengthened into a culture in college. Strengthening the character in college should be more endeavored to make students who are faithful, pious, noble, moral, ethical and civilized based on the nation's noble values of religion, Pancasila, the Constitution of 1945 and the culture of moderating Islamic values. The noble values of the nation from religion and the culture of Islamic values of moderation can be seen from the Aswaja teachings that can be embedded in the teachings that can strengthen character education in universities. This research is a qualitative research conducted at Wahid Hasyim University, Semarang, which is one of the universities that base Aswaja as a foundation for strengthening character education. The source of the data is obtained from primary and secondary data. Data collection method is done by interview, documentation and observation, while data analysis method uses descriptive analysis method. The results of the study show that the concept of aswaja teaching at Wahid Hasyim University is used as the foundation that underlies all activities carried out on campus, both matters relating to aqidah, worship/sharia, and morals. As for strengthening character education through Aswaja teachings, it was carried out by making Aswaja Center which regulates activities related to Aswaja. The implementation of the Aswaja teachings is carried out through habituation, guidance and consultation related to religious practices. Aswaja's teachings are also integrated in courses according to each faculty. Key Words : Aswaja, Education, Character.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to elucidate and to look for efforts todeter spreading radicalism phenomena in the world. The terrorattacks have engulfed many part of the world and blamed onradical and extremist groups who have put Islam and Muslim onworld attention. Indeed the terror attacks have heightened agrowing sense of Islamophobia. And therein is the paradox! Shouldthe activities and “sin” of individual Muslim(s) or group(s) bevisited on an entire community and relegion? As a consequenceIslam is perceived as religion with a predilection to conflict, aggressionand violence, peace is the kennel of Islamic religion and one ofits significant ingredients. Abstract

In order to realize the character education towards a humanistic education, it is definitely required an implementation of character education in the learning process, whether in school or out of school. The concept of character education should be reflected in its planning, implementation, and evaluation. The planning of character education is carried out by preparing a character-based syllabus and learning implementation plan (RPP) by integrating character values which is in-line with the indicators into that syllabus and implementation learning plan. While implementation of character education is executed through personal development activities, integrating of character values in all subjects, developing the school culture which is based on character-oriented and on valuable learning. The evaluation of character education should be emphasized and be focused on affective aspects of the students, namely the assessment towards their behavior or actions, neither on their understanding, knowledge, nor on their spoken words.Keywords:  character education, humanistic education, akhlāq, value, moral

Abstract

Abstract Religious life is a real thing happening to the community or community as a form of expression of the belief in religion. The community referred to in this paper is a community of Muslim learners who attend a non-Islamic school. How Muslim life is seen in this non-Islamic school will be seen in this paper. Guided by the two dimensions of Glock and Stark's religious dimensions, the dimensions of religious practice and the dimensions of religious teachings in behavior, make religious life visible in non-Islamic schools. Religious practice is meant worships in muamalah. While the practice of behavior is referred to as the behavior of learners when interacting with the school community. Abstract

This paper discusses the contribution of Muslim scientists in developing civilization. This is analyzed using the lens of the unity of sciences. A scientist must always think, research, and make various efforts for the development of Islamic science in globalization. Through this method, the chosen strategy is to develop scientific integration that can be taken for the development of knowledge that has been unable to dialogue with religion. Paying attention to inter-scientific relations without sacrificing autonomy between each scientific discipline and paying attention to the religious dimension of the Indonesian nation. This paper is expected to contribute to developing theoretical frameworks and practical strategies in the development of science in Indonesia. Abstract

The terrorist event and the destruction of the sea alms tradition in Bantul recently were quite surprising, because as we know that Yogyakarta is rich in cultural traditions. The phenomenon of violence with greater religious motives also occurred in Indonesia, such as the Bali Bombing on October 12, 2002, and more violent was the September 11, 2001 event at the WTC United States. The question is why does an understanding arise that justifies acts of terrorism in the name of religion? What is the solution offered by Ibrahim M Abu Rabi 'in responding to the phenomenon of terrorism in the name of religion? This paper will explain the thoughts of Ibrahim M Abu Rabi 'about the importance of re-examining the nature of Islamic thought when there are many Western accusations that the teachings of Islam legalize acts of violence and terrorism. Abu Rabi took three approaches in starting his study; (1) starting with the historical development of Islamic modernization, (2) education in the Islamic world, and (3) contemporary elites and the rise of religion in the Arab world. The philosophical, critical theological, socio-historical, and anthropological approaches to the study of Islam that were implied by Abu Rabi to bring Islam to the advanced conditions become accumulated in interconnected integrative ways of thinking. Abstract

Abstract This article tries to uncover the relationship between education and tolerance, the points in common between the two and the mutual influence between them. By using descriptive analysis method, the writer elaborates matters related to education, such as basics, elements, media and methods. In terms of tolerance, the writer traces the roots of these words in Arabic and the extent to which they are related to the meaning of the vocabulary (tolerance) in English. This article finds that education, both from an epistemological and axiological perspective, is closely related to tolerance. For example, in terms of understanding. Education in a simple sense is the process of forming students to become better. This process, of course, requires an adequate attitude of tolerance from educators in dealing with students. Likewise in the elements of education, such as universality, egalitarianism, graduation, comprehensive, realistic, sustainable. The application of these educational elements cannot be realized except through a tolerant view and attitude. Where the simplistic definition of tolerance is not imposing punishment on the party who should get it, not demanding the rights of the party that should have been obtained due to humanitarian considerations. This is the highest meaning of education too.

Abstract

abstract This article attempts to describe the content of Surah Al-Fatihah from an educational aspect.By using the method of analysis of the Qur'anic interpretation (tahlili), the author traces the interpretations of Al-Qur’a both classical and contemporary. It is not an exaggeration to say that Allah is the educator of the universe with humans as the foremost beings who are affected by this project. In carrying out this mission, the Al-Qur'an is used as a medium as well as a means to take people step by step towards perfection. Al-Fatihah as the first chapter in the Al-Qur'an, also referred to as its mother, certainly cannot be separated from this great mission. Starting from basmalah, the affirmation of the name Allah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim seems to be a guide that every educator must base all his actions in the name of compassion, as Allah SWT. However, compassion here must be balanced with reward and punishment (verse: 4). The second stage to achieve success in education is high trust in educators. This is because the student will not be able to get the maximum result of knowledge if he has doubts about the teacher. Third, as the meaning of education is to walk the path to the goal, not to arrive at the destination instantaneously or to arrive at the destination in any way, then in verse 6, students are directed to walk the shirotol mustaqim, the straight path to the peak of happiness in the world and the hereafter. Finally, Surah Al-Fatihah is closed with a gesture to imitate the previous people. Successful people to imitate, perverted people to shun.

Abstract

ملخص: إن موضوع الحوار من المواضيع التي حظيت باهتمام العديد من المفكرين والسياسيين والباحثين في الوقت الراهن، نظرا لأهميته في التقريب بين وجهات النظر المتباينة، وتحقيق التعايش السلمي والعيش المشترك على أُسُس من الاحترام المتبادل والحرص على المصالح المشتركة. وتتجلى أهمية الحوار في علاج العديد من المشاكل الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والسياسية، فهو ضرورة واقعية تُمليها ظُروف العصر في العديد من المناطق التي تَشْهد صِراعات مُستمرة، فهو السبيل الوحيد لتحقيق السلم والأمن الاجتماعي. وقد قسمت هذه الدراسة إلى أربعة محاور، خصصت المحور الأول لمفهوم الحوار، بينما أفردت الثاني للحديث عن مفهوم السلم، في حين تناولت في الثالث مفهوم التعايش، وفي الرابع أهمية الحوار في بناء السلام والتعايش، ثم ختمتها بخلاصة للموضوع. الكلمات المفاتيح: الحوار، السلم، التعايش السلمي. Abstract The topic of dialogue is one of the topics that has attracted the attention of many thinkers, politicians and researchers at the present time, due to its importance in bridging the divergent viewpoints, and achieving peaceful coexistence on foundations of mutual respect and concern for common interests. The importance of dialogue is reflected in the treatment of many social, economic and political problems, as it is a realistic necessity dictated by the circumstances of the times in many areas experiencing continuous conflicts, as it is the only way to achieve peace and social security. This study was divided into four axes, the first axis was devoted to the concept of dialogue, the second was devoted to the concept of peace, while the third it dealt with the concept of coexistence, and the fourth the importance of dialogue in building peace and coexistence, then concluded with a summary of the topic. Key words: dialogue, peace, peaceful coexistence.
