Abstract

Lakea Sub-district, Buol District has a wealth of natural resources (SDA) potential in the form of large and fertile plains area that can be developed into agricultural land for food crops and horticulture, areas with hilly topography can be developed various types of plantation commodities, forest resources that can be cultivated MPTS and marine potential. To optimize the potential of natural resources is needed integrated agricultural technology that can be applied by the community. Regional partnership program aims to assist the community in exploiting the potential of natural resources owned by kindly and wisely through integrated agricultural technology innovation to improve their welfare. PKW is implemented in two villages in Lakea Sub-District, Lakea I and Ngune Village. The methods used in the implementation of the program include: training, plot demonstration technology, guidance, and community assistance. The results of the program implementation showed that the adoption of technology was good enough from the target community group which is showed by the transfer of technology in the development of SRI rice cultivation with legowo row planting system, the development and entrepreneurship of local-made production facilities include bioinsecticide development Beauveria bassiana, Trichoderma sp biofungicide, liquids organic fertilizer and granules, development of PKW production facilities, and development of forage grazing garden with Panicum sarmentosum grass cultivation. The technology assembly is as the result of a suitable PKW team study to be developed in the Lakea District of Buol Regency in utilizing and developing the potential of natural resources in the program target location. Results of demonstration plot of rice cultivation of SRI with legowo 2:1 row planting system resulted in rice production of 4.7 t ha-1 higher than the conventional were 3.5 t ha-1.

Abstract

Gebe Island is one of the islands in Central Halmahera of North Maluku Province. The island has a high potential of fishery resources both for capture and aquaculture fisheries. This activity was carried out from June 2011–September 2015, aimed to improve community’s skill to stock and rear the lobster (Panulirus spp.) in floating net cage at Umera and Umiyal Villages for community empowerment in the Gebe Island.  Methods of these activities were training and accompaniment. Smaller size lobsters (3–4 individual per kg) were collected naturally from the sea around the Gebe Island. Based on the observation, lobster farmers community of Umera and Umiyal Villages have been stocking and rearing the lobster. The community can also harvest and sell the lobster collected from the sea reared for 2–4 months in the floating net cage.

Abstract

Sweet potatoes are a cultural plant for the people of the Pegunungan Tengah, Papua because every day people in this region are always use sweet potatoes. Pegunungan Tengah, Papua community knows sweet potatoes with the name hipere. The purpose of this service is to change the behavior patterns of farmers in the process of processing sweet potatoes that have never been processed into regional superior products in Pegunungan Tengah, Papua. The implementation of this activity through KKN-PPM is by providing socialization and training in making various flavors of sweet potato chips. The results of this community service are the people of Wamena District can make various kinds of flavored sweet potato chips food products, thus helping the community in creating added value of products and can increase family income.

Abstract

MI Al-Ikhlas Eretan Wetan is a school located in Eretan Wetan Village, Kandanghaur Subdistrict, Indramayu District, West Java. The majority of students who attend school there are fishermen who have very little knowledge of fisheries. So that the impact on the low interest of children in the world of fisheries. This is evidenced by the survey results of students of the Department of PSP-IPB from 30 children interviewed 100% have not understood marine fisheries. This condition is very apprehensive considering the fishery sector is a major sector for Indonesia as a maritime country. One effort to foster interest and knowledge of marine fisheries to children is through Jantra Education. Jantra's education includes play activities while studying fisheries such as environmental education, marine education delivered through a Jantra game, as well as training of trainers to teachers, and advocacy to relevant institutions for sustainability and expansion of the program. The program's activities resulted in an innovative marine educational media and increased knowledge and interest in marine fisheries.

Abstract

Community service carried out through the Science and Technology Program for the community aims to empower the potential of the Bulan and Tuna Tomini groups in Tanjung Kramat which are located in coastal areas with the livelihood of the people who are tuna fishermen. The main problems of the two partners are related to the processing, production, and marketing of products. The target of this program is the establishment of a business unit that develops food products from tuna fish. In particular, the program aims to train two partners, namely the Bulan and Tuna Tomini to produce tuna fish abon. Training will be given starting from production techniques, packaging, marketing, to business management techniques. The method that will be applied to achieve the goals/targets is a combination of several approaches, namely through counseling, training, mentoring, as well as providing production equipment assistance. The results achieved in this activity are the Bulan and Tuna Tomini groups who have understood and possessed entrepreneurial skills, more structured business management, addition of flavored tuna fish, which are spicy and sweet spicy flavors and marketing expansion through packaging innovation, and PIRT license

Abstract

Community empowerment activities of breeders by Bogor Agricultural University students in the form of Student Service Learning (CSP) in Lebak District is intended to improve their empowerment. In particular the purpose of CSP is to identify the potency and problems faced by breeders, to carry out community empowerment activities of breeders, and to analyze the impact of these activities. Activity methods include identification of potentials and problems, discussions, practices, and simulations. The results of this empowerment activity shows that the potential of livestock that can be developed in Lebak Regency is cattle, buffalo, goat, and chicken. But the obstacle is the knowledge of breeders on the management of livestock raising is still low, especially in the prevention of livestock disease, appropriate feeding, livestock waste management, and livestock processing. Implementation of community empowerment activities based on the results of identification process of potential and problems. Furthermore, it is done by using various methods, in the form of lectures, discussions and practices. The objective of the activity also focus to management as a whole and extends to the young generation and housewives, such as livestock education for school age children and livestock processing (nugget) for women. These activities have a positive impact on the community, such as improving the knowledge and skills of the community in managing their livestock business, such as arranging cages, feeding, processing of animal waste into organic fertilizer, processing of livestock products into fast food, and increasing knowledge and interest of young people in the field farming through counseling to school-aged children. The follow-up is to intensify this activity by the residents themselves and facilitated by extension workers and village officials, so that it adopted by many breeders.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity was to establish and develop a processing business for octopus (Octopus sp) and dried sea worms (kian) at Ohoi Matwair. There are two important aspects to starting and developing this business, namely the aspects of production and management. In the aspect of priority production, the problem faced is the drying technique of octopus and traditional sea worms, drying tools and equipment used in processing simple octopus and sea worms, the shape and quality of packaging products for drying octopus and unhygienic sea worms. While the problems related to business management are capital management and production efforts of drying octopus and sea worms that have not been maximized, recording business activities of drying octopus and sea worms has not been done properly, and how to sell or market dried octopus and sea worm products that have not been done well. Through the PRA approach method or participatory rural appraisal as well as three methods in fishery counseling namely lectures, demonstrations and training, the IbM program activities are carried out as a solution to solve the priority problems faced by partners. The amount achieved is 1) Transfer of science and technology from the service team to partners; 2) There has been an increase in partner knowledge about octopus and dry sea worm processing businesses by 38.7%; 3) There are 25 products of octopus and dry sea worms; 4) There are two drying tools used by partners; 5) There are 5 notebooks submitted to partners, but partners are only able to record 2 notebooks (books of purchase and sale); and 6).A total of 25 pieces of octopus and dry sea worms were reached the market in the Ohoi Matwair region.

Abstract

Most rice farmers in Pamijahan Subdistrict cultivate in traditional way and have relatively low income. Farmer’s low income was caused by low productivity so farmer welfare also decrease. Traditional methods in cultivation also affect the environment because of high usage of chemical fertilizer. This community service program aims to increase farmer’s income in Pamijahan Subdistrict by introducing System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method using organic fertilizer. The main activities are: instituional strengthening, SRI training and cultivation practice (pilot project). The expected outcome of this community service activity is to increase production by using less input and to get higher selling price for organic rice. There are four steps in this program is: planning, organizing, actuating and controlling. The sequence is: 1) Program preparation, consist of: program socialization, institutional strengthening, cooperation with SRI trainer, preparation of experimental field, seed and agricultural equipment; 2) Institutional strengthening with rice farmer; 3) SRI method training with trainers from Nagrak Organic SRI Center to change farmer’s mindset and train farmers about SRI cultivation method; 4) Cultivation in experimental field (650 m2), where farmers practice to cultivate rice with SRI method; 5) Experimental field harvesting, unhuled rice yielded around 65 kg or 30–40 kg of rice; and 6) Supervision during the experimental cultivation by IPB lecturers and village officials.

Abstract

Tempe is one of the processed products of soybeans. Tempe can be further processed into tempe stick by the community through science and technology based entrepreneurship. The targets of this activities are community empowerment in product development, entrepreneurship training and earning extra income. The output of this activities is the diversification of food in the form of healthy food products such as tempe stick. The activities consists of 1) preparation stage (Formulation of formula, analysis of nutritional content of best formula, and manufacture of packaging design and product label); 2) Implementation stage (Entrepreneurship Training, Practice of making tempe stick, Mentoring and Production Monitoring); and 3) Evaluation Stage (Evaluation of sales of stick stick). The result of this activities is obtained a best tempe stick formula with the composition of raw material is wheat (45.0), tempe (45.0), margarine (3.6), lime leaves (1.5), baking powder (0.1), salt (0.6), and water (3.0) with nutrient content per 100 gr tempe stick is energy (464 kcal), water (4.96 g), protein (13.03 g), fat (19.47 g), and carbohydrate (59.08 g). Capital per pack business (100 g) of IDR 3.742 with the selling price of IDR 8.000, then the profit of IDR 4.258 per pack (113.8%). Based on the results of these activities it can be concluded that tempe stick is a nutritious snack food that is feasible to be developed as a profitable business branch.

Abstract

Anchovy (Stolephorus spp) is a main target of lift-net fishery, and it is a main income for the fisherman for long time in Saramaake Village, East Halmahera District. Production in a large number with bulky marketing system and a limited processing activity affect a limited economical value for the community of the village. This community empowerment activities had been done for 6 months, from June–December 2017, aimed to develop the anchovy product and the certification. Methods used in this activity were training and mentoring. Objective targets of the activity were fishermen and fisherman’s wife which are members of Common Business Group and cooperation. Some activities have been done for product development (chili sauce packaged anchovy and labelling) and product certification (certification of halal from the Institute Assessment of Food, Drug and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama and certification of food of Household Industry from Public Health Service Office in District of East Halmahera). Based on the result of training and mentoring, the object community had gained a knowledge and technology related to the fish processing and certification. Certified marine product have a wider market and marketable in some shops in Ternate and Buli.
