Abstract

This community service program were based on the abundance of secondary crops in the Nagari Sungai Durian. This is because the soil and climate conditions in Nagari Sungai Durian are not suitable for cultivation of rice, so that local people choose to do cultivation of secondary crops. The most widely cultivated secondary crops are corn and cassava. Corn and cassava are crops that contain high carbohydrates. However, the selling value of corn and cassava yields were low. In addition, the processing product of corn and cassava do not vary, reduce the purchasing power of consumers. Then it is necessary to create a variety of processing product of corn and casava that are creative and innovative. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the creativity of Nagari sungai durian community in producing various processed crop products especially corn and cassava into processing products that have economic value. This community service was done by socialization and secondary crops (cassava and maize) processing demo and the marketing of the products. This service was got positive response from the target community which shown by the participants enthusiasm and the new business formed after the service in Nagari Sungai Durian. This activity also increase business opportunities for Nagari Sungai Durian community so that it can increase the income of the community. Outcomes obtained from this activity are: a) The creation of public understanding in the importance of entrepreneurship; b) Community skills in processing various food products; c) Creating business opportunities for the community; d) Food products; e) Increase in communities incomes.

Abstract

The village of Pamata Raya is a coastal area near from tourism of Bokori Island. This community service in collaboration with students field work practice program of faculty of fisheries and marine science Halu Oleo University aimed to provide knowledge and to empowerment community through the optimize a pen culture activity into a multifunctional facilities, such as for rear of fish, marine tourism, and education. The activity was conducted for July 2017 and consists of two steps, which is technical guidance to making a pilot multifunctional pen culture and training to make various food value added products based on fish. The results of the community service programs have been built multifunctional pen culture (9 m2) which is equipped with gazebos as a tourist spot for fishing, culinary, and education. This pen culture is used to cultivated various species of reef fish (mullet fish, parrotfish, groupers, and lobsters). Furthermore, culinary tourism is carried out by training fish-based food processing by groups of women fishermen, such as of fish meat floss, fish meatballs, and fish nuggets. Successfully this program can be obtained from the increased participation of partner in program implementation, the improvement of the quality of human resources through the transfer of technology, and economically there has been an increase in fish production and fishermen’s income especially for the target groups. This multifunctional pen culture can be an alternative fishermen livelihood during high wave season. The presence of multifunctional pen culture indirectly increase the number of visitors in Bokori Island which was also beneficial to the local community.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (CPP) activity was implemented in the seaweed farming business unit in Bungin Permai Village, Tinanggea District, South Konawe District, Southeast Sulawesi. The Community Partnership Program (PKM) activity is carried out in the seaweed farmer's business unit UMKM Kumbang Laut and Sinar Laut in Bungin Permai Village, Tinanggea District, South Konawe Regency. Each group consists of 10 people who carry out various seaweed processing businesses. The problems of UMKM is the limited introduction of technology and business management capabilities so that it has an impact on the low contribution margin and added value. This activity aims to increase the contribution margin and the added value of various processed seaweed products. The results showed that the production value seaweed ice cream and seaweed banana nuggets was IDR 80,000 each. Comparison of contribution margins was IDR 40,340 and IDR 37,550. Added value after processing amounted to 37,740 and 31,050. So the added value produced per 1 kg of dried seaweed for each product is IDR 188,700 and IDR 155,250.

Abstract

One of the villages in East Halmahera Regency known as center of anchovy catch production area is Saramaake Village. The fishery community empowerment activities were carried out for 6 months from June to December 2017, aimed at developing institutions in order to improve production management and added value of anchovy. Methods used were training and mentoring conducted by experts and field mentors. The scope of activities includes institutional development, training, and mentoring. Institutional development was begun by lift-net fishermen and fish processing group establishment, developing business group (KUB-Indonesian) and cooperative. The data used was consisted of primary data (based on interview, observation, and mentoring) and secondary data (village profile and fish production). Based on activities carried out, the institution that has been built since 2016 has been upgraded from fishermen and fish processors groups, to business group (KUB), then developed into cooperatives in 2017. The Akesalaka Monge Bahari producer cooperative has obtained a legal entity No.006389/BH/M.KUKM.2/XI/2017. The cooperative was able to implement a better togetherness work to produce fish processing, and wider market development. Through this institutional development, fishermen and marine processors can be better to manage their business independently and be able to increase the bargaining position in the marketing of anchovy and other processed marine products.

Abstract

The formation of the family empowerment post (Posdaya) at Robyong Sub-village of Poncokusumo is intended to increase family income through the application of technology to utilize existing natural potential endowment. The mosque-based family empowerment post could functionalize mosque as a social-economic community center as well as a religious activity center. The community empowerment program at Baitussalam-Mosque Posdaya has become a pilot project in the mosque-based society empowerment. The implementation of the program consisted of family data collection, socialization, and determination of the Posdaya main program according to local potential. Discussion with locals has concluded that the need for training about passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) processing as a main program of Posdaya, since passion fruit has become potential and not yet being utilized optimally. Participants are locals around Baitussalam Mosque, especially housewives. Direct observation shows that locals actively participate in the Posdaya program and supported also by Posdaya organizer and community leaders. The resulting product was responded positively by the market. The product was already marketed out of Java as a souvenir from the Robyong sub-village of Poncokusumo. This program is expected to become a micro-group enterprise from Robyong sub-village with product diversification, good marketing strategy, and good production management in the future.

Abstract

One effort that can be done by housewives is entrepreneurship to make crackers. Food products from banana trees were chosen because they have good prospects, besides the fruit there are other parts that can be used, namely banana humps. Because of the benefits and high nutritional content, it is necessary to diversify from banana humps to be sold. The purpose of this activity is to inspire partners about the idea and spirit of entrepreneurship using sources of raw materials that are easy to obtain, so they can increase income. The program is carried out through two stages, namely processing banana humps into healthy crackers and transferring packaging technology. This activity was carried out in the training and development of technology for processing banana humps into cracker products, which could be an alternative economic new business in the community. The positive impact of this activity is the increasing skills and knowledge of partners about making food from banana trees, as well as improving the skills of packaging techniques. There is an increase in the ability of entrepreneurial partners in producing and selling products.

Abstract

This community partneship program (PKM) is aimed to improve knowledge and skill ofthe two community groups in Jurumapin Village, Sumbawa Regency, namely Saling Angkat farmer groupand Palopo Durian processing group that focuses on develoving the production, marketing and bussines management. This PKM program had been done from March until May 2018 through training and mentoring method. The form of science and technology implementation in the training and mentoring was the technique of cultivating and rejuvenating the durian tree, the technique of using the dog hunter to expose monkey, the technique of marketing and bussines management, and the procedures of producing some cakes from durian. The result of this PKM shows that both of the groups understand the technique of cultivating and rejuvenating the durian tree, the technique of using dog hunter to expulse monkey, the technique of using facebook as social media in online media marketing and they are able to produce some cake from durian.

Abstract

This activity was claimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of cultivation partner group (Uma Pelam) and processing group (Wanita Rumpi Sayang Keluarga). The training and mentoring were conducted from March to June 2018 in Leseng Village, Moyo Hulu Subdistrict, Sumbawa Regency. The aproach used was active participation method, training and mentoring with the target were partner groups. The result showed that there were 85% of partners had actively implemented the community partnership program. The cultivation group had been understood the technique of corn cultivation in dry land and corn drying technique by utilizing the sunlight as a heat source. The processing partner have had skills to process corn into corn brownies, corn dodol, and corn chips (Semarang corn). Both of them have understood the technique of book keeping and group bussiness management. The existence of partner group have been widely known by the people in sumbawa regency with the publication of community partnership program activities in mass media Gaung NTB and Online Media Indicator Inn.

Abstract

Instant tiwul is a major product in Wonosobo District and made from cassava. Cassava tubers from Wonosobo has a delicious taste, low prices, and high crop productivity. The applied methods were technology transfer, supplying production tools and equipment, applying technology and production assistance, and evaluation monitoring. The application of technology and production assistance was carried out for 12 months. The results showed that: 1) Technology transfer programs are able to increase the knowledge, technology, and participants motivation to follow up on the technologies that were introduced, including changing production habits in accordance with guidelines on producing good food for household scale industries; 2) Providing production equipment, instruments and equipment repairs, and arrangements of production room layouts are able to increase the capacity and quality of SMEs’ products; 3) Assistance applying technology and during continuous production of functional instant tiwul and bakery goods based on tiwul flour were able to maintain consistent product quality in accordance with the established standards; 4) Various promotional activities carried out and the marketing methods applied were able to significantly increase the sales and profits of SMEs. Overall, this program was able to increase the knowledge, technology, variety, quality, production capacity, income, and competitiveness of SMEs.

Abstract

Hydroponic is the method to cultivate plant by using media supplied with nutrient solution and or media other than soil. One of the options for soil replacement is sugarcane waste. Sugarcane waste or bagasse is residue from the sugar mill (Saccharum oficiarum) processing. The objective of this community service program (PKM) is to transfer knowledge and skills to the Sidorejo community to cultivate using a hydroponic system by utilizing bagasse as planting medium in order to manage sustainable environment. The main target of this PKM program is the group of PKK Gampong Sidorejo. The method used includes lectures, direct practice, and discussion. The results of the activity concluded that 1) Participants' knowledge of hydroponic cultivation using bagasse increased by about 20; 2) This activity has benefit the Sidorejo community, particularly PKK group with an increase in the willingness of participants to attend similar training around 98 and; 3) Planting a hydroponic system can be used as a means of channeling hobbies, health, and can be developed into a business scale.
