Abstract

Critical thinking skills need to be instilled in the learning process in junior high schools. In this case, a teaching method that can improve students' critical thinking skills, namely the problem based learning method, is needed. The purpose of this study was to examine whether problem based learning method was able to improve the critical thinking skill of students in junior high school in the subjects of Social Sciences. The research method is quantitative. The research instrument used a test at the beginning and end of learning. The data collecting technique used test. The data analysis of this study used a partial test. The results showed that the problem based learning method had an influence on the critical thinking skills of students with t table 3, 902 t count 1.669. Thus, there is an effect of the problem based learning method on the critical thinking skills of junior high school students.

Abstract

The Vocational School was established by the goal to prepare the learners for entering the job field. However, the fact at the field showed that The Vocational School contributed the highest jobless in Indonesia. This fact happened because the competence that was owned by the graduators of Vocational School have not fulfilled competence standard that is needed by the job world and industry. The graduators’ competence of vocational school can be increased by giving training and advanced education after graduated from school. The advanced education is not always in the university level, it means that the advanced education can be formed education to strength the field that is learned by the students during at school that is in line with the job world. However, the importance of education investment have not owned by the society. The society more oriented the graduators of Vocational School for getting job straightly without competence measurement that is owned by them. Therefore, the workers’ career of the Vocational School not as good as the other workers who have recognized for increasing their competence through education. The beginning of recognizing of education investment can be done by activating the career planning program. This Program can give direction to the students of Vocational School in order able to measure their own competence. So that, when those students chose the job can be in line with their competence.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the learning outcome with the subject matter of Population Social Science Approach Jigsaw. Subjects and data sources eighth grade students study VIII F as many as 36 students. Methods of data collection using observation, documentation, and testing. Analysis of data using a critical and comparative analysis. Indicators of success using the criteria limit minimal is 75 and the target completeness 100%. Research procedure uses cycles. Based on the resultt of research and discussion can be concluded that: the data obtained from pre cycle until the second cycle, obtained the progress of student achievement in the learning of Social Sciences with the material of the population through the approach of Jigsaw, the pre cycle average of 73 and the first cycle an average of 79 and the second cycle by an average of 87. from this data, it seems clear that an increase in the average value of pre cycle to a first cycle of six figures (8%), from the first cycle to the second cycle an increase of 8 numbers (10%) , from the second cycle pre cycle to an increase of 14 points (19%). The highest value pre cycle stage at 82 and 88 as well as the first cycle of the second cycle of 92. It is clear that from the stage to the first cycle pre cycle an increase of 6 numbers (7%), from the first cycle to the second cycle an increase of 6 numbers (7% ), and the second cycle of pre cycle to an increase of 12 points (14%). The lowest scores were obtained for 66 pre cycle stage and the first cycle of 72 and the second cycle of 82. thus, can be affirmed that the step of the first cycle pre cycle to an increase of 6 figures (9%), from the first cycle to the second cycle an increase of 10 number (14%), and the second cycle of pre cycle to an increase of 16 points (24%). The percentage of mastery learning from pre cycle obtained by 29% and the first cycle was obtained by 70% and the second cycle of 100%. It seems clear that from the stage to the first cycle pre cycle an increase of 41%, from the first cycle to the second cycle an increase of 30%, and from the second cycle pre cycle to an increase of 71%. Abstract

The purposes of this study are to determine what factors affect the students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta and to find out how important the experience of organizing in forming soft skill student. The type of this research is qualitative research with ethnography method. The subject of this research are students of Accounting Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UMS. The results of this study claimed the organization’s experience can develop the students’ soft skills, advantages acquired in organization that are developing leadership skill, communication skill, teamwork, networking, problem solving, and managing conflict. This results claimed that three intrinsic factors consisted of interest, talent, and perception. The factor of perception becomes fundamental’s factor is to influence students to join the organization. The students have a viewpoint that the organization activities can develop and improve the students’ soft skills.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to know futher about the influence between parent socialeconomics condition and parent attention towards students study achievement, bothpartially or simultantly. The kinds of research is quantitative with this explanative approachused all students from class XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Purwantoro in 2013/2014 Academic Year,around 103 students as population. Research sample around 78 students was established byusing sampling technique proportional random sampling. Technique of Data collection byusing questionaire and documentation, then data analysis by using doubled linierregression.The research result show that parent social economics condition and parentattention both partially or simultantly have positive influenced towards study achievement ofstudents from class XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Purwantoro in 2013/2014 Academic Year, theeffective contribution of parent economics condition is 32,2%, while the effective contributionof parent attention is 22,8%, therefore total contribution of both is 55%.

Abstract

This research in the background with Padang City is one of the cities that has existing tourism potential, where Padang City itself has vulnerability and vulnerability to disasters on existing tourist objects. This is a concern or concern for the city government of Padang if you want to develop tourism. On the one hand, Padang City has strong tourism potential, and on the other hand, Padang also has a high vulnerability to disasters. Thus, of course, the Padang City Government needs to create or manage tourism development strategies in disaster-prone areas. This study uses the theory of types of a plan initiated by Kotten. In this theory, there are four types of policies, namely: Organizational Strategy, Program Strategy, Resource Support Strategy, Institutional Strategy. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach, data collection techniques used are interviews and documentation, while the method for selecting information is using a purposive sampling technique. To test the validity of the data obtained in the field, researchers used source triangulation. Based on the findings in the area, the Padang City Government has a strategy to develop tourism based on disaster mitigation, which through the Department of Tourism and Culture and the Padang City Regional Disaster Management Agency, has programs related to the development of disaster-based tourism mitigation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis media paling efektif, yang dapat digunakanuntuk memperoleh calon mahasiswa baru bagi perguruan tinggi. tujuan lain adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran berbagai alternatif media yang dapat digunakan untuk menyebarluaskan informasi keberadaan sebuah perguruan tinggi.Penelitian multiple case studi ini menggunakan subyek penelitian meliputi mahasiswa baru tahunakademik 2010-2011 pada lima perguruan tinggi swasta di Surakarta, meliputi : UMS, UNISRI, UTP, UNIBA, dan UNIVET. pengambilan sampel dengan random untuk mengambil 50 secara incidential untuk setiap perguruan tinggi. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket. Selanjutnya data dianalisis menggunakan Analisis Varian Klasifikasi Tunggal.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) rata-rata jumlah media yang berhasil mempengaruhi kelimaPTS berbeda satu dengan yang lain, 2) variasi dan banyak model publikasi mempengaruhi jumlah calon mahasiswa pendaftar, 3) jenis media yang memiliki efektifitas tinggi adalah; mahasiswaPTS itu sendiri, Forum mahasiswa Daerah, spanduk, anjangsana ke sekolah-sekolah, dan iklan urdoor.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of self-awareness to mediate the effect of academic supervision of school supervisor and managerial skills of principals on teacher competence. The research method is quantitative research with path analysis. Samples were taken by using proportional random sampling of 198 respondents from 452 people who became teacher population. Results of path analysis with AMOS found that the direct influence of the academic supervision of school supervisor significantly to the competence of teachers and self awareness respectively 0.154 and 0.174. Direct influence managerial capacity principals are not significant to the competence of teachers. Hypothesis influence significant managerial skills principals to teachers’ self awareness to the value of coefficient are 0.289. Similarly, the effect of self-awareness hypothesis significantly to the competency of teachers with coefficient is 0.591. Self awareness as an intervening variable proved able to mediate significant effect relationship between exogenous variable to endogenous variable shown by the results of Sobel test.

Abstract

The existence of kepramukaan subject (scouting) is one of many ways to acquire vision and mission of PPKn FKIP UMS. The study found three major findings. First of all, the implementation of subject kepramukaan was related to responsibility and independency characteristic reinforcement held in first and second semester and followed by field activity in fourth and sixth semester. Secondly, students assumed that this subject was critical, especially on character building as a teacher candidate and extracurricular tutor at school. Thirdly, the alumni and stakeholders thought that Kepramukaan studies was very supportive in term of responsibility and independency character building and finally improve the graduate quality.

Abstract

The coastel region in Indonesia is one of the densest areas of settlement and development, even some of the major cities in Indonesia located in the coastel area and become a major tourism destination. However, behind the beauty there is a threat in the form of natural disasters, if the management of tourism is not optimal for facilities and infrastructure can increase the risk of disaster. This study aims to recommend planning for disaster based tourism development with structural mitigation. This research is a qualitative research. The data collection method used in this research is to conduct literature studies, observations, and documentation. The result of this study indicate that the facilities and infrastructure available at Drini Beach are classified as incomplete in terms of structural mitigation against disaster, so there is a need for planning in developing disaster resilient tourism, with the aim of creating a friendly an resilient tourism climate.
