Abstract

This research aimed at this class action research : (1) for description of stages;steps of applying of method TGT in course of study surat lamaran pekerjaan (2)for description the effectiveness of applying of method TGT to write surat lamaranpekerjaan of student of class of XII IS 3 SMA Kristen 1 Surakarta. Research procedurefollow the stages; steps of research of class action which relate of proposal ofResearch of Class Action (PTK) released by Dikti covering four step. Fourth stepof according to the Dikti (1) planning, (2) execution, (3) monitoring, and (4) refleksi.The outcome of the research was as follows: (1) effective method TGT enoughutilized in study write surat lamaran pekerjaan; (2) effective method TGT enoughto increase ability write surat lamaran pekerjaan; (3) effective to method TGTenough improve the student participation in study write surat lamaran pekerjaan;(4) effective to method TGT enough improve the motivation and student enthusiasmin study write surat lamaran pekerjaan.

Abstract

The forming and development of educational curriculum must be fitted with the reality and requirements of the stakeholders and the students by keep referring to the national education standard and other national policies. This research aims to describe objectively about the school’s understanding towards regulations number 20 year 2003 about references in national education curriculum development and international ratifications made by Indonesian government.This research employs survey research plan with multistage area cluster to 20 elementary school students as samples. In this research, the researcherplayed as the key instrument by referring to prepared questions and interview guidance. The result showed that the teachers and the principal have not gotsome proper understanding about the baseline of gender-equal curriculum policy in Indonesian language subject. The schools need information about ways indeveloping the Indonesian language subject, wether as a tool for the application of gender-equal curriculum and ways in developing gender-equal based Indonesian language study program as a media to form a positive character and ways in putting gender-equal values in Indonesian language subject.

Abstract

Tujuan penulisan ini untuk mendeskripsikan keberterimaan istilah bahasa Indonesia di tengah masyarakat. Penulisan ini menggunakan tipe deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan sumber data pada kurun waktu sekarang (sinkronis) dari koran nasional, jurnal ilmiah, dan TV nasional berupa istilah setiap bidang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik dokumentasi, pustaka, dan pencatatan. Data dianalisis dan dideskripsikan untuk melihat keberterimaan istilah bahasa Indonesia saat ini. Hasil penulisan menunjukkan bahwa keberterimaan istilah bahasa Indonesia di tengah masyarakat berindikator pada efisiensi, kebergunaan, kebakuan, intertranslatabilitas, dan keindahan. Istilah yang terseleksi itu sepatutnya didukung oleh tuturan figur, terekam dalam media, menyatakan realitas, dan berada dalam pusaran peradaban. Dengan demikian terlahirlah istilah yang berterima di tengah masyarakat.Kata Kunci: Keberterimaan, istilah, dan bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan kurikulum bahasaasing Pendidikan Taman Kanak-kanak di Jakarta. Secara khusus, tujuan penelitianini untuk mengetahui (1) profil guru bahasa asing, (2) proses pembelajaran bahasa asing (3) ciri-ciri bentuk pembajaran dan tanggapan siswa terhadap prosespembelajarannya, dan (4) kendala-kendala dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing diTK. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Responden dalam penelitianini adalah guru bahasa asing. Data dikumpulkan dengan angket, wawancaramendalam, dan simak catat. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan deskripstifdan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) profil kualifikasipendidikan guru TK masih relative standar, yaitu sarjana namun kebanyakan darimereka tidak memiliki latar belakang pendidikan yang tidak sesuai dengan bahasaasing yang mereja ajarkan, (2) secara umum, proses pembelajaran berjalan relative lancer seperti suasana pembelajaran, materi dan konsep, strategi, aktivitas pendukung, metode mengajar, ujian dan evaluasi serta media yang digunakan, namun dalam beberapa hal tidak berjalan sebagaimana mestinya, seperti desain kurikulum, silabus, dan materi pembelajaran, (3) ciri-ciri bentuk pembajaran dan tanggapan siswa terhadap proses pembelajarannya relative bagus dan positif walaupun dalam beberapa aspek seperti penyiapan pembelajaran, spirit bersaing dan dorongan pembelajaran, penguasaan pembelajaran dan partisipasinya perlu ditingkatkan, serta (4) terdapat beberapa kendala yang dihadapi sekolah dalam menerapkan kurikulum bahasa asing seperti kurang relevannya latarbelakang pendidikan guru, kurangnya dukungan dan partidipasi orang tua siswa, kurangnya jam belajar, kurangnya media dan sarana belajar serta kurangnya motivasi siswa.Kata kunci: kurikulum, bahasa asing, sekolah Taman-Kanak

Abstract

Google is a large company engaged in technology, besides that Goolge also provides software with advanced technology in the field of translation. In this study, we will discuss the quality of translation from Google Translate as one of the online translation engines that are widely used by users. There are several problems that arise in online translation machines, one of which is the aspect of equivalence of words in the target language. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, where the focus of the problem is aimed at analyzing the quality of the translation produced, while the source data is taken from an online English article. Validation of this research data in the form of level of assessment and acceptance was done by questionnaire method by distributing assessment questionnaires to rater, while for readability quality, the researcher used the interview method on the target readers. From the results of the study there were 21 accurate data, and 9 data were less accurate, while 20 data were received and 10 data were not acceptable, for readability 19 the data entered into high readability and 11 data entered into moderate readability. From the results of the study it can be concluded that technological sophistication is a solution to the problem of translation, but on the other hand it cannot be denied that the quality produced by online translation services is also not entirely accurate, acceptable and has high readability.

Abstract

There are a great number of medicine and cosmetic advertisements in printedmass media. These advertisements are numerous and very productive in term ofexpressing intent so that they emerge interesting language problems to be studied.Lexical and grammatical cohesion markers on those advertisements are written invarious ways. Based on that, the problems of the study are follows: (1) what kind ofcohesion marker developed on medicine and cosmetic advertisements in mass media,(2) how is the form of sentences applied on medicine and cosmetic advertisements.Data collecting method applied in this research is observation method with notingtechnique. The collected data from that technique is then analyzed by distributionalmethod with techniques of substitution, ellipsis, and reading mark.Based on 15 data of discourses in medicine and cosmetic advertisement, it isfound that the lexical and grammatical cohesion markers on those discourse areellipsis, substitution, and repetition. The forms of sentences applied in the discoursesof medicine and cosmetics advertisement are around 1-14 numerous. There arearound 1-14 sentences applied in discourses of medicine and cosmetic advertisement.Based on the analysis of functional structure to sentences used in the discourse,there are 33 functional structures.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the writing strategy of the second semester students of University Muhammadiyah of Purwokerto in the academic year 2015/2016. The method was qualitative descriptive. There were 57 students of the second semester  students as the subject of the research. However, the data collection was collected through questionaire. The result was likely about the percentage from the questionaire. In preparation step, 49% respondents admitted that they use cognitive strategy, they looked for the information they wanted to write and also collected some vocabularies before writing. In the second item, there were 60% respondents who have social strategy. Therefore, if they have problem in their writing, they will ask their friends. Cognitive strategy is also used by 67% respondents, it happened when the students said that grammar was the part from their writing in which it was the most often to be corrected. Moreover, cognitive strategy again was used by 84% and 54% when they did not know about grammar and word from their writing, they would open grammar book and dictionary. The last, there were 46% respondents had cognitive and social strategy, that was about to use internet or social media as the additional source outside class.    Keywords: writing strategy, cognitive, metacognitive, social

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to produce a model of TQA from English into Indonesian. It employed a descriptive-qualitative approach. Its data were obtained through content analysis, interviewing with key informants, FGD and observation, and analyzed with an interactive data analysis technique. The final findings of this research indicate the followings. First, the Model of TQA produced assesses the quality of translation holistically. Second, the Model is applicable for assessing the quality of translation within the contexts of translation research and teaching and of professional settings. Third, the Model opens opportunities for raters to assess various units of translation, ranging from micro to macro levels. Fourth, the effectiveness of the Model in assessing quality of translation depends solely on the ability of the assessors or raters in applying it in various settings. Prior to its application, those engaged in every translation quality assessment should read and understand all relevant information and procedures of how it should be employed.
