Abstract

Javanese coastal communities have a different form of civility with the standard Java language. This difference is very substantial. Standard Java language still maintains strong normative rules, being at the coast of Java language has undergone a shift. The shift that has occurred: (1) type P_1 (model civility good manners): Speakers have the freedom to use the lexicon of krama or krama inggil for yourself (or good manner self), (2) type P_2 (model civility verbal reduplication): speakers have freedom of speech that has been reiterated by the partners speech. Two shifts are to be taboo for speakers of the standard Java language, and otherwise be inappropriate for polite Javanese coastal communities because of the high frequency of use.

Abstract

Coventional technique of reading is commonly used by Senior Hugh School Students that this may due to their low interest and achievement in reading. However, there are more effective reading-techniques such as SQ3R and PQRST and also another factor influencing studentsachievement, family-learning way model. The study presents a comparison between reading ability for Seniro High School students using authoritative and democratic way, being taught by using SQ3R and PQRST models. It is an experimental study using students of SMA N 5 Purworejo by factorial design. For the experiment, we selected two classes consisting of the class X-1 as the first experiment group while the class X-2 as the second one. Based on family-learning way model, each group of experiment is devided into two sub-groups, the one getting authoritative while the other getting democratic treatment. The result shows that (1) reading ability of Senior High School students using authoritative family-learning who are taught using SQ3R model, is better than those being taught by using PQRST; (2) reading ability of Senior High School students using democratic way who are taught by using PQRST model, is better than those being taught by using SQ3R; and (3) there is interaction between reading technique using family-learning way model and the students achievement. In short, technique of reading using family-learning way model has influenced students achievement of reading.Key words: achievement, family-learning model, authoritative, SQ3R, and PQRST

Abstract

This research is aiming at nding out the in uence of Neurolinguintics Programming (NLP) to the paragraph writing ability. This research is conducted at SMA Negeri 7 in the Tangerang city, Banten for the XI grade students in 2012/2013 academic year. The research method used here is an experimental study. The population is all of the XI grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Tangerang city, and for the sample is taken from 2 classes. Each class has 30 students, so the total is 60 students. Experiment class uses NLP method, and control class doesn’t use NLP method. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that there is the in uence of NLP method to the students’ability in writing paragraph at the XI grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Tangerang city, Banten. Key words: infolution, Neourolinguistics Programming, writing skill ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Program Neurolinguistik (NLP) terhadap Kemampuan Menulis Paragraf. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMANegeri 7 kota Tangerang, provinsi Banten pada siswa kelas XI tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 7 kota Tangerang, sedangkan sampelnya terdiri dari 2 kelas, masing-masing kelas berjumlah 30 orang. Kelas eksperimen adalah kelas yang menggunakan metode NLP, sedangkan kelas kontrol adalah kelas yang tidak menggunakan metode NLP. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh penggunaan metode NLP terhadap kemampuan menulis paragraf siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 7 kota Tangerang provinsi Banten. Abstract

This article aims to describe story profile which can improve emotional intellegence of cognate growth phase child of concrete operational. This Research subjek consist of: (a) cognate growth phase child of concrete operational and (b) narrator (in this case teacher). The Research was conducted in Semarang Town. The Instruments in this research are: (1) instrument to know story profile enthused by cognate growth phase child of concrete operational, (2) instrument to measure emotional intellegence of cognate growth phase child of concrete operational be- fore and after getting story based on figure function analysis at child story, (3) instrument to know executed narrating profile by narrator (teacher). Telling a story, based on figure function analysis in the reality can give picture and assist activity of telling a story that can develop emotional intellegence. The mentioned seen from tendency the increasing of emotional intellegence of child. Narrating execu- tion shall pay attention psychological aspect of child, including type, way of, theme, figure, path, and story background; existence of interaction braid in course of nar- rating between narrator and hearer; and giving of follow-up having a meaning of to child. Key words: children story, narrating, and emotional intellegence.

Abstract

The study describes the melodic structure of Indonesian language carried outin two experiments: (1) the productive experiment which is to measure acousticfeatures of declarative and interrogative statements and (2) the perceptive experiment,to measure the sensibility of the Indonesian speakers in listening speech. Thetwo experiments were conducted by using the approach of experimental and psychoacousticphonetics. The result showed that Lindbom’s (1990) hypo-hyper theoryexplaining the relation between speech production and perception in communication,cannot fully be accepted. The first experiment was significant in at least threeacoustic features: fundamental frequency (F0) of the final note peak, of final mark,and the position of final note peak (Pa) in contour; however, the three parametershave not necessarily to occur altogether to expect the interrogativeness perception.The two characteristics of F0: the height of F0 Pa and the final mark shouldoccur at the same time, whereas the features of final note peak (Pa) was not neededto expect the interrogativeness perception. In short, the interrogative perception ofspeech does not require more complete acoustic features when compared to theirproductive parameters.

Abstract

The involvement of politeness in directive speech especially at school environment is an interesting phenomenon to be studied. This study aims to assess the perception of politeness in directive speech by students of SMAN 1 Surakarta. This research involves the combination of descriptive quantitative and qualitative method. The data is collected through questionnaires and is analyzed by descriptive statistical techniques. The results show the orders of politeness from the most polite to the least polite as follows: (1) directive speech in the form of advice, (2) directive speech in the forms of question, (3) directive speech in the forms of a strong signal, (4) directive speech in the forms of subtle cues, (5) the form of directive speech in the form of mitigated statements, (6) directive speech in the form of imperative statements, (7) directive speech the form of expression of interest, (8) directive speech with explicit statements, and (9) directive speech with the imperative modes.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menjelaskan tentang: (1) bentuk penggambarandinamika pemikiran pengarang yang diungkapkan melalui tokoh dalam novelnovelkarya Nh. Dini dan Ayu Utami; (2) fungsi teks terkait dengan dinamikapemikiran pengarang dalam novel-novel karya Nh. Dini dan Ayu Utami; (3)makna dinamika pemikiran pengarang yang terefleksi melalui novel–novel karyaNh. Dini dan Ayu Utami; (4) temuan konsep yang dapat dikontruksi terkait dengandinamika pemikiran pengarang dalam novel-novel karya Nh. Dini dan Ayu Utamiserta kontribusinya terhadap perkembangan sejarah sastra Indonesia.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-fenomenologi denganprinsip-prinsip metode analisis isi kualitatif yang biasa digunakan untuk memahamipesan simbolik dari wacana atau teks. Sumber data penelitian mencakup 6 novelyakni 3 novel Nh. Dini yaitu La Barka (1975), Jalan Badungan (1989); DariFontenay ke Maggalianes (2005), 3 novel Ayu Utami yaitu Saman, Larung,Bilangan Fu. Di samping itu juga ditunjang dengan data yang diperoleh dari hasilwawancara dengan pengarang untuk mempertajam konsep. Data dalam penelitianini adalah sekuen cerita yang memiliki relevansi dengan tujuan penelitian sertainformasi-informasi penting yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara. Analisis datapenelitian ini menggunakan teknik (a) pemahaman arti secara mendalam menurutazas-azas hermeneutika, (b) analisis isi (content analysis) dan (c) analisisinteraktif-dialektis sesuai dengan keperluan.Hasil pembahasan penelitian diperoleh simpulan sebagai berikut. (1)Bentuk penggambaran dinamika pemikiran pengarang yang diungkapkan melaluitokoh dalam novel- novel karya Nh. Dini dan Ayu Utami mencakup dinamikasosial budaya, politik, dan ekonomi. Keseluruhan dinamika tersebut dipadudengan teknik cerita yang menarik sehingga perkembangan pemikiran tokohterefleksi secara implisit maupun eksplisit. (2) Fungsi teks terkait dengan dinamikapemikiran pengarang dalam novel-novel karya Nh. Dini dan Ayu Utami meliputi:fungsi penyampaian pesan estetis, fungsi penyadaran masyarakat, dan fungsikritik sosial. (3) Makna dinamika pemikiran pengarang yang terefleksi melaluinovel–novel karya Nh. Dini dan Ayu Utami dalam ranah pengetahuan konsepdapat diungkapkan bahwa kepiawian perempuan pengarang dalam menghadirkansisi ketimpangan sosial, kekuasaan yang bermuara merugikan pihak lain diulassecara jelas dengan titik tekan yang berbeda-beda. (4) Temuan konsep yang dapatdikemukakan terkait dinamika pemikiran pengarang yang diungkapkan novelnovelNh. Dini dan Ayu Utami serta kontribusinya terhadap sastra Indonesia yaitubangunan pengetahuan yang hadir dengan kekuatan/energi yang bersumber padakonteks sosial. Melalui berbagai dimanika pemikiran kritis pengarang sejarahsastra Indonesia memiliki watak dan kekhasan dalam menangkap perubahanbudaya secara jeli.Kata kunci : pemikiran kritis, perubahan sosial budaya, kajian budaya

Abstract

The study examines the local discernment of Javanese community in Central Java, DIY, and in East Java, viewed from the work of farmer and fisher which is reflected in their expression and linguistic category of Javanese language. The samples of the study are farmers in the village Wonosari (on the hill of Gunung Kawi, Malang, East Java),  Kemuning Sari (Jember, East Java), Petung Kriyana (Pekalongan, Central Java), fishers of the south coast in the village Puger (Jember, East Java) and those in the village Kemadang (Gunung Kidul, DIY). The data were collected by using eth- nography and ethno-science methods in the framework of ethno-linguistics. The study shows that based on the Javanese linguistic expression and category, there is a myth of the Javanese farmers represented in the ritual ceremony of rice pre-plantation as the reflection of thank to god “Dewi Sri”. The myth is still contained within the register “wiwitan” as managed by the leader of ceremony. So, there is an enclosed Javanese life style within to care to vertical and horizontal human relation in nature. Such phenomena also occur in the Javanese fishers in the south coast, i.e. in their local understanding to keep the natural force which may sometimes threaten their safety when working on the sea or when they have to meet the natural symbol “Nyi Rara Kidul”. Among the related registers to use are “labuhan kapat” ‘thanksgiv- ing’, and “selametan petik laut” (every the Syura month 15th). This reflects the Javanese life style’s care to the natural, social, and thought ecology. The Javanese worth culture asset represents the local discern crystallization which has been en- closed within the Javanese linguistic expressions and categories. Key words:    local discernment, ranah bahasa petani dan nelayan, ethno-linguistics, ethno-science, dan ecology.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) mendeskripsikan style ’gaya bahasa’ khususnyamajas dan gaya kalimat puisi “Tuhan, Kita Begitu Dekat” karya Abdulhadi W.M.;(2) mengungkapkan dimensi sufistik dalam puisi karya Abdulhadi W.M. tersebut.Kajian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan mendasarkan pada kerangka berpikir induktif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik pustaka. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode contens analysis dan pembacaan model semiotik yakni pembacaan heuristik dan hermeneutik dengan pendekatan teori Semiotik. Hasil kajian ini adalah: (1) style ’gaya bahasa’ puisi “Tuhan, Kita Begitu Dekat” karya Abdulhadi W.M. memiliki kekhasan dan keunikan (ideosyncrasy) yang berbeda dengan karya penyair lain. Kekhasan style puisi tersebut terlihat antara lain pada majas dan gaya kalimat. Majas dalam puisi tersebut didominasi oleh metafora, simile, dan hiperbola. Adapun gaya kalimat puisi itu didominasi oleh gaya kalimat implisit dengan melesapkan beberapa bagian dalam kalimat demi efektivitas dan untuk menciptakan daya ekspresif dalam rangka mencapai efek estetis. Style Abdulhadi W.M. dalam puisi itu menunjukkan kekhasan dan keunikan sebagai wujud individuasi penyair; (2) Puisi karya Abdulhadi W.M. itu mengungkapkan dimensi sufistik. Puisi itu menyiratkan gagasan tasawuf Wahdatul Wujud, yang melukiskan berpadunya eksistensi manusia dengan eksistensi Tuhan, berpadunya dimensi insaniyah dengan dimensi Ilahiyah, bersatunya makhluk dengan Khalik. Itulah esensi puisi itu yakni hakikat dan ma’rifat dalam tradisi tasawuf yang dianut para sufi. Sekaligus puisi itu menunjukkan bahwa Abdulhadi W.M. merupakan salah satu sastrawan sufistik Indonesia.Kata Kunci: stilistika, majas, gaya kalimat, puisi “Tuhan, Begitu Dekat”, sufistik
