Abstract

The effectiveness of drug storage is essential for effective drug management; if it is inadequate, pharmacy services and performance will be compromised. Therefore, a review of drug storage management and the appropriateness of drug storage regulations is required. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of drug storage and the acceptability of drug storage in the pharmaceutical warehouse of Hospital, Badung Regency. This study used cross-sectional methodology, descriptive observational quantitative research, and data collected from all medicinal products between March and April 2023. A checklist taken from the 2010 Binfar guidelines became the research tool. The result Indicators of drug storage such as percentage of matched drugs with stock cards was 100%, percentage of expired drugs was 1,46%, percentage of empty stock was 0%. Result of standards of drug storage such as space organized, drug supplies were prepared, and storage facilities were used was 100%. The results of the suitability of drug storage facilities in the Pharmacy Warehouse of Regional Hospital Badung Regency are in accordance with the standards of drug storage facilities, while the results of the efficiency value of drug storage in the Pharmacy Warehouse of Regional Hospital Badung Regency show that it has not achieved maximum results. Evaluation of drug storage management in the Pharmacy Warehouse of Regency Hospital Badung needs to be carried out regularly to prevent expired drugs and ensure drug supplies are maintained.

Abstract

Hypertension is a disease often found in Indonesia. Hypertension can be controlled by compliance with taking medication and a healthy lifestyle. One effort to increase compliance is counseling. Pharmacist counseling can provide patient education and understanding of hypertension therapy while ensuring that patients are taking medication appropriately so as to increase compliance and control blood pressure. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of pharmacist counseling on drug compliance on blood pressure values in hypertensive patients at the Semarang Community Health Center. This research is a pre-experimental study with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. Data collection was taken in March-April 2019. Blood pressure results were obtained before and after counseling with a value of p = 0.000 (p 0.05). This research can be concluded that pharmacist counseling can influence medication adherence and systolic and diastolic blood pressure values in hypertensive patients at the Semarang Community Health Center

Abstract

Kratom (Mytragina speciosa) is one of the endemic plants in Southeast Asia in general and Kalimantan in particular which is proven to have activities as an analgesic, sedative (antidepressant), and, antiobesity, breast anticancer, antinociceptive, CYP450 induction, anti-inflammatory, opiate, antimicrobial, and antioxidant. However, no report states the active compounds from kratom leaves that have these activities. Therefore, this study will identify the active compounds contained in kratom leaves with a virtual screening process responsible for analgesic activity along with the prediction of adsorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET) properties. The virtual screening process was performed based on molecular tethering, while the prediction of ADMET properties was done with the help of a web server. The results obtained showed that the compound (-)-epicatechin was most responsible for the analgesic activity of kratom leaves. The ADMET profile of this compound predicts that it has good bioavailability and is non-toxic.

Abstract

Determination of isoniazid concentration for therapeutic drug monitoring must produce valid values, so validation of the analytical method of LC-MS/MS needs to be carried out. This research aims to obtain valid method of LCMS/MS in order to determination isoniazid in rats serum. Sample preparation was carried out using the liquid-liquid extraction method using acetonitrile and methanol (2:1). The chromatography system was developed with a C18 column (ACQUITY UPLC® HSS T3 1.8 µm, 2.1 × 100 mm), the mobile phase was 70% acetonitrile with 0.1% formic acid (A), water with 0.1% formic acid (B), as well as methanol (C) with a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min, with gradient elution, detection in ESI+ mode with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) at the transition 138 m/z → 121 m/z. The research results showed that the method was accurate with a % recovery of 96 - 113% and an RSD of 2.4 ± 0.9%. The precision value was obtained with an average RSD of 3.7 ± 2.4% for intra-day and 4.1 ± 2.3% for inter-day. Linearity showed good results with a correlation coefficient of 0.9956 in tests with 5 different concentrations. The LOQ and LOD values obtained from the linear regression equation were 0.1987 µg/mL and 0.0656 µg/mL respectively. The results showed that the LC-M/MS method was valid for determining isoniazid levels in rat serum

Abstract

Kidney failure is a disease with a moderate prevalence in Indonesia but causes the second highest cost burden in Indonesia. One of the treatments for chronic kidney failure is hemodialysis. The problem with hemodialysis patients is a high incidence of malnutrition, which can affect the patient's quality of life. Therefore, this study will examine the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. This research is a cross-sectional study by collecting medical record data and filling out questionnaires. Selection of research subjects with inclusion criteria aged ≥18 years, routinely undergoing hemodialysis, willing to participate in the study and complete medical record data. The patient's nutritional status was seen from the Body Mass Index (BMI), and the patient's quality of life was assessed by the Indonesian version of the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short-Form (KDQoL-SFTM) questionnaire. The average age of the hemodialysis patients in this study was 53.70 years, the average body weight was 57.24 kg and the average height was 10.82 cm. Patients with lean BMI were 20.5%, normal 56.4%, overweight 23.1%, and obesity 2.6%. The domain of employment status is related to nutritional status (p-value 0.005). Nutritional status is related to the quality of life of hemodialysis patients in the occupational status domain.

Abstract

All medicines that are stored and no longer used will be returned to pharmacies, health professionals, thrown away at medicine collection points or through household waste which can be considered as medicine waste. Medical waste from unused or expired medicines is thought to have financial consequences. This research is a descriptive quantitative observational study using a cross sectional study method. Sampling was carried out using the Snowball Sampling method. The sample obtained consisted of 271 household respondents from 19 sub-districts in Grobogan Regency. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire indirectly via Google Form using descriptive analysis. The results of the research were that the largest number of drugs not used and stored based on therapeutic class was the analgesic group, namely Rp. 610,249 (37%). The total estimated value of unused drugs from 13 therapeutic classes is IDR. 2,609,388 with an average per household of IDR 9,629. The conclusion of the research is that the value of unused medicine can illustrate that the amount of wasted costs to households is IDR 9,629.
