Abstract

The demand for eggs is always high, but the availability of goods is often not balanced with the availability of products on the market. The imbalance between the demand for eggs and the supply makes the price unstable. Chicken eggs are a food commodity that has variable price fluctuations. . Therefore an estimate of future prices is required. Various models can be used as a method of forecasting egg prices. The study was conducted to determine and test the best forecasting model for the retail price of eggs in Bengkulu City. The retail selling value of chicken eggs in the capital city of Bengkulu Province from early 2010 to May 2020 was used as the main variable to be analyzed. ima price forecasting model used to determine the best model based on the lowest MAD, MSE and MAPE values. The results showed that the best model for predicting the retail price of eggs in Bengkulu City is the ARIMA model because it has the smallest MAPE, MAD and MSE values compared to other models.

Abstract

Muntingia calabura L., is also known as Jamaica Cherry,is one of plants in the family Muntingiaceae and a native neotropics plant from south of Mexico to Bolivia. The leave contains rich flavonoid, tannin, triterpenoid, saponin, and polyphenol as antioxidant able to reduce free radical and body healthy. This study utilized lemongrass (Cymybopogon nardus L.) as added fragrance of muntingia’s leave powder face mask. Lemongrass is also beneficial for inhibiting bacterial growth, especially Staphylococcus epidermidis brought by several vectors. The objective of this study was to understand the effect of lemongrass added to antioxidant activity of muntinga’s leave powder face mask and also the organoleptic test for this. The result showed that the treatments of lemongrass added in muntinga’s leave powder mask had significant effect antioxidant activity. In addition, the muntinga’s leave powder mask by lemongrass variation added also had significant difference on sensory quality whether on color, texture, and scent.

Abstract

Recent global issues are always related to food waste. Indonesia is also recorded to have an index value that is in the serious category. Conditions that are quite happening in fact are also followed by high numbers or values of food waste in Indonesia. It is recorded that food waste in Indonesia reaches 300 kilograms of food waste per person every year. The flow of food waste is usually sourced in urban areas caused by many, one of which is the city of Surakarta. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the behavior of food waste in the city of Surakarta. This study used a sample of 30 people from the city of Surakarta. The data analysis method used in this research is multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that simultaneously the independent variables consisting of income level, frequency of eating, education level, gender and number of household members affect the level of food waste. Partially there are only two variables that affect food waste, namely education level and frequency of eating, while the remaining three variables, namely education level, gender and number of household members have no effect on food waste.

The method of research data analysis used was descriptive analysis. The samples in this study were 146 respondents which obtained by purposive sampling, which was individual who had bought vegetable and fruit via online at least once from various internet-connected applications. The results showed that according to the use of internet technology consumers felt the benefit in finding product information faster, independence in transactions, trusting that the business identity of the online sellers was conveyed honestly, online sellers sent products at the correct address, vegetable and fruit prices set by online sellers in accordance with the benefits received.

Abstract

Agriculture in a time of climate change is very wary of various countries in the world because it can threaten food security. Indonesia faces this problem based on data and reported news. This paper aims to provide some information about the potential threats of climate change towards crop production in Indonesia to initiate innovations that can be done to maximize crop production amid climate change. We compile this literature review to develop thoughts related to adaptation strategies undertaken to maximize the productivity of food crops under climate change, especially in Indonesia. Several studies that were reviewed showed that there was a decrease in food crop production due to factors in the environment that were changing because of climate change. Therefore, the provided strategy is an example that can be applied and developed to maintain national food productivity. Continued research is needed to provide other plans that are integrated with existing strategies.

Abstract

Frozen vaname shrimp is one of the leading export products from the Indonesian fishing industry sector. Soaking is an important step in the frozen shrimp processing chain to increase the yield and quality of the final product. This study aims to determine the effect of adding additives (STPP and Turbo) at various concentrations in soaking shrimp on the physical-sensory quality of frozen white vaname shrimp. This study used factorial RAK with factors I: (1) STPP 3%; (2) STPP 5%, and factor II: (1) Turbo 2%; (2) Turbo 4%. The quality parameters observed included physical quality (net recovery, step loss, drip loss, cooking loss, increase in check size) and sensory quality (appearance, smell, taste, texture). Data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and DMRT follow-up test (for physical quality), and Dunnet follow-up test (for sensory quality) at 95% confidence level. Descriptive statistical analysis was used for data that did not meet the ANOVA test. The results showed that the addition of STPP and Turbo at various concentrations had no significant effect (α> 0.05) on net recovery, step loss, cooking loss, and product sensory quality. The percentage of stage losses is influenced by the net recovery and gross recovery of shrimp, and all the treatments tested were acceptable to all panelists.

Abstract

Efficiency of the use of inputs in the farming field in the effort to reach an optimal profit in the farming field and environment continuity in agriculture. The correct inputs placement will increase the efficiency and productivity in the rice farming field. This research aims to analyze the impact of the use of seeds, urea, phonska, sp36, pesticides, and labor on the productivity of rice farming and the efficiency level in the use of production factors in the rice farming field in Desa Srikaton, Buay Madang Timur District, East OKU Regency. The quantitative method is used in this research. The data are collected by using questionnaire. There are 60 participants which are determined by cluster sampling technique. Primary and secondary data are used as supporting data. The data are analyzed by using regression technique, using Cobb-Douglas production function model, and allocative efficiency analysis. The result shows that urea, phonska, pesticides, and labor had a positive impact on rice production, while seeds and sp36 had no effect on rice production. In Desa Srikaton rice farming field, the production inputs such as seeds, urea, sp36, pesticide, and labor have not efficient yet, while production inputs such as phonska fertilizer are not efficient.
