Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the comparative advantage of the agricultural sector in Central Lampung Regency. This study uses secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other relevant agencies. The analysis technique used is Location Quotient (LQ), Klassen Typology, and Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ). The LQ results show that the sub-sector, food crops, horticulture, and livestock are the basic sub-sectors, while the plantation and fisheries sub-sectors are non-basic sub-sectors in Central Lampung Regency in 2014-2017. The results of the DLQ show that the plantation sub-sector will be repositioned to become a basic sub-sector in the future. The sub-sectors that did not experience repositioning or shifting were the food crops, horticulture and livestock sub-sectors, where the three sub-sectors became the basic sub-sectors and will remain the basic sub-sectors in the future. The fisheries sub-sector has also not experienced a repositioning where the sub-sector will remain a non-basic sub-sector in the future. The results of Klassen's Typology Analysis show that the horticulture and livestock sub-sector is a developed and rapidly growing sub-sector, the plantation sub-sector is an advanced but depressed sub-sector, the food crops sub-sector is a potential sub-sector, and the fisheries sub-sector is a relatively lagging sub-sector. The sub-sector that has a comparative advantage in Central Lampung Regency is the horticulture and livestock sub-sector because this sub-sector is an advanced and fast-growing sub-sector.

Abstract

One of the efforts to increase rice production can be done by utilizing land between plantation crops. However, the obstacle faced by intercrops among plantation crops is the low light intensity received by plants. The solution that can be done is to use new high yielding varieties that are shade tolerant. This study aims to produce several varieties of rice that have good adaptation to growth and yield in shaded conditions under coconut stands. The study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) which consisted of 7 treatment varieties, namely Rindang 1, Rindang 2, Inpago 8, Inpago 9, Situ Bagendit, Inpari 32 and Jeliteng, then repeated 4 times. The results showed that the Rindang 1, Rindang 2, Inpago 8 and Inpago 9 varieties were higher than the high yielding varieties between 15.16-52.04 cm. The number of contents and the number of grain per panicle was highest in the Inpago 8 and Inpago 9 varieties. The highest 1000 grain weight was in the Rindang 2 variety, which was 31.09 g. VUB adaptation test under the shade of coconut varieties Inpago 8 and Inpago 9 productivity above 4 tons-1, while the varieties Rindang 1 and Rindang 2 productivity 3.7 tons-1 and 3.9 tons-1

Abstract

Aren (Arenga pinnata Merr) is a type of palm that has a high economic value, its spread is very wide in Indonesia. All parts of the palm plant, from leaves to roots, can be utilized. The main product of palm sugar is sap. Sap is a liquid that is tapped from the male flower of the palm tree, which is nothing but the metabolism of the tree. This liquid called palm juice contains between 10-15% sugar. Superior palm products as a source of food and energy include palm sugar, ant sugar, fresh roomie, fro, and alcoholic drinks. Besides palm products are widely used for craft materials, as well as building materials. In terms of its economy, the business of making palm sugar can increase income and improve the family's standard of living. This can occur if the income earned by palm sugar craftsmen is greater than the costs incurred. The amount of income that will be obtained from a business activity depends on several factors that influence it such as how much land is owned, how the level of production, who is the identity of the entrepreneur, and how much labor is used. In conducting this palm sugar business, the craftsman hopes to increase his income so that his daily needs can be met.

Abstract

Sumbawa is one area that has the potential to be developed as a center for beef cattle production which is quite competitive in Indonesia. The proportion of cattle in Sumbawa itself is around 21% which is generally dominated by the Bali cattle variety (Bos sondaicus). Therefore, a business that has great potential to support this goal is cattle fattening. Unfortunately, one of the main problems encountered in fattening cattle is the cost of feed. Thus, the management of Bali cattle fattening that utilizes agricultural waste for the manufacture of feed is urgently needed. In addition, the management of fattening cattle must also be complemented by other components, such as the manufacture of medicines to treat diseases of underweight Bali cattle using local plants, the process of bathing, drying, and monitoring the cattle to be fattened. From the research and observations conducted, it is known that the time needed to get the cow display condition with ideal characteristics and optimal weight in the fattening process is 3 months. During this time, the selling price of lean fattened cows increased by about 2-2.3 times. It can be concluded, that the fattening management of lean Bali cattle carried out in Pungka Village, Unter Iwes District, Sumbawa Regency is quite profitable. In addition, this can also be used as part of community waste management that is integrated with community livestock business.

Abstract

The level of understanding of farmers in making MOL is very lacking, on the other hand, MOLes are needed to produce compost, plus farmers can make their own MOLes from materials that are around us. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of farmers and students on the socialization of making MOL. The method used is a pre-test post-test one group design with a total of 44 respondents consisting of 26 farmers and 18 students who were determined purposively in January 2022. The increase in respondents' knowledge was tested using statistical paired sample t-test. The results of the implementation for farmers obtained that the correlation between pretest and posttest knowledge was positive at 0.154, significant at the =0.05 level, and for students at 0.657 indicating that the increase in post-test knowledge of socialization was not the same for every farmer and student. However, the level of knowledge of farmers on average increased from an average of 14.62% of students to an average of 19.44% due to socialization. Statistically, the level of knowledge of farmers and students increased significantly at the level of =0.05. This indicates that socialization is effective in increasing the knowledge of farmers and students in Kelindang Village, Merigi sub-district, Central Bengkulu Regency.
