This journal was first published on March 11, 2016 and it is issued every March and September. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN is a new version of the old journal with a similar name that was published from 1995 to 2005. This journal is dedicated not only to Indonesian scholars who are concerned with educational studies but also to scholars from Southeast Asian countries and around the world who care and want to share thoughts and ideas related to educational studies in general. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN journal is organized by the Lecturers of UPI Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Journal Developer Team and is published by UPI Press in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The articles published in MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN can be in English, Indonesian or Malay language. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN journal is devoted but not limited to primary education, secondary education, higher education, teacher education, special education, adult education, non-formal education, and any new development and advancement in the field of education. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The school should be a place to spend time by playing and enjoying their childhood and adolescene. So, the school should not to becomes the main source of stress for the child. This research aimed to identify the difference in the happiness of students based on gender, age, and class’ level, as well as identify the aspects that affect the happiness of students. This research uses a quantitative approach. The sample numbered 332 respondents was selected using simple random sampling techniques, with details of the student's 112 students grade 10; 108 students grade 11; and 112 students grade 12. The instruments used in the form of a detailed questionnaire “Happiness in School” compiled by researcher with reference to the five aspects of happiness according to M.E.P. Seligman (2011), which are: Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationships positive, Meaning of life or Meaningfulness, and Accomplishment categories, abbreviated as PERMA. Analytical technique used in this research is t-test, ANOVA (Analysis of Variance), and multiple regressions. There are two findings of this research, namely: the existence of a distinction based on age of happiness as well as aspects of the engagement is the most influential aspect of student’s in school. Based from these findings, it is expected that the teacher could design a class regarding to the aspects of engagement, which can increase happiness. Sekolah harus menjadi tempat untuk menghabiskan waktu dengan bermain dan menikmati masa kecil dan remaja mereka. Jadi, sekolah seharusnya tidak menjadi sumber utama stres bagi anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan kebahagiaan siswa berdasarkan jenis kelamin, usia, dan jenjang kelas, serta mengidentifikasi aspek yang mempengaruhi kebahagiaan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel berjumlah 332 responden dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling sederhana, dengan rincian 112 siswa kelas 10; 108 siswa kelas 11; dan 112 siswa kelas 12. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuisioner “Bahagia in Sekolah” disusun oleh peneliti dengan mengacu pada lima aspek kebahagiaan menurut M.E.P. Seligman (2011), yaitu: “Positive emotion” (Emosi positif), “Enggagement” (Keterlibatan), “Relationship positive” (Hubungan positif), “Meaning of life or Meaningfulness” (Hidup bermakna), dan “Accomplishment” (Berprestasi), disingkat PERMA. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah uji t, ANOVA (Analisis Varians), dan regresi jamak. Terdapat dua temuan dari penelitian ini, yaitu: adanya perbedaan kebahagiaan berdasarkan usia serta aspek keterlibatan yang merupakan aspek paling berpengaruh terhadap kebahagiaan siswa selama berada di sekolah. Berpijak dari temuan tersebut, diharapkan guru dapat merancang pembelajaran dengan memperhatikan aspek keterlibatan para siswa yang dapat meningkatkan kebahagiaan mereka. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: UN (Ujian Nasional) tahun 2016 tidak lagi menjadi penentu kelulusan peserta didik dari suatu jenjang pendidikan. Kelulusan peserta didik ditentukan berdasarkan pertimbangan hasil pembelajaran pada seluruh mata pelajaran. Apakah hasil ujian nasional ini berpengaruh terhadap kelulusan peserta didik, khususnya di SMP (Sekolah Menengah Pertama) Laboratorium UPI (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) di Bandung? Untuk mengetahuinya dilakukan penelitian atas kontribusi nilai UN terhadap kelulusan siswa. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian “causal associative” (korelasi), subjek penelitian adalah 134 orang siswa kelas IX SMP Laboratorium UPI. Hasil penelitian menunjukan: (1) Siswa kelas IX SMP Laboratorium UPI tahun pelajaran 2015/2016 secara keseluruhan dinyatakan lulus dengan kategori “sangat baik”; (2) pencapaian nilai hasil UN yang diperoleh siswa kelas IX SMP Laboratorium UPI secara keseluruhan menunjukan kategori “cukup”; serta (3) pencapaian nilai hasil ujian nasional yang diperoleh siswa kelas IX SMP Laboratorium UPI tahun pelajaran 2015/2016 secara keseluruhan memberikan kontribusi positif secara signifikan terhadap tingkat kelulusan siswa yang bersangkutan dengan kontribusi sebesar 69.7%.KATA KUNCI: Ujian Nasional; Kontribusi; Kelulusan Siswa; Hasil Pembelajaran; SMP Laboratorium. ABSTRACT: “Contribution of National Examination Results to Students Graduation of UPI Laboratory SMP Lesson Year 2015/2016”. UN (National Examination) in 2016 is no longer a determinant of graduation of students from an educational level. Graduation of learners is determined based on consideration of learning outcomes in all subjects. Do the results of this national examination affect the graduation of students, especially in UPI (Indonesia University of Education) Laboratory SMP (Junior High School) in Bandung? To find out it, the research on the contribution of the UN score to the student’s graduation. By using research method "causal associative" (correlation), the subject of research is 134 students of class IX UPI Laboratory SMP. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Tak semua lulusan SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas) bisa meneruskan pendidikannya ke jenjang PT (Perguruan Tinggi). Oleh sebab itu, lulusan SMA perlu dibekali kemampuan dan keterampilan untuk bisa bertahan dalam menempuh kehidupan usai lulus SMA. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada penguatan pengalaman belajar bercirikan kecakapan hidup dalam implementasi Kurikulum 2013 pada SMA di Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pemahaman kepala sekolah dan guru SMA dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan Kurikulum 2013 dan menjamin lulusannya memiliki keterampilan belajar, keterampilan menggunakan teknologi dan media informasi, serta dapat bekerja dan bertahan dengan menggunakan keterampilan untuk hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif, dengan sampel para kepala sekolah dan guru SMA. Hasil penelitian menunjukan masih variatifnya derajat pemahaman kecakapan hidup para guru dan kepala sekolah dalam implementasi Kurikulum 2013. Ada juga sejumlah kendala yang dialami guru dan kepala sekolah dalam implementasi pembelajaran kecakapan hidup. Kendala tersebut bersifat konseptual dan teknis implementatif di sekolah. KATA KUNCI: Manajemen Kurikulum; Kurikulum 2013; Kecakapan Hidup; Pembelajaran Aktif; Kendala Konseptual dan Teknis.  ABSTRACT: “Strengthening the Life Skills in the Implementation of Curriculum 2013 in Senior High Schools in West Java”. Not all Senior High School graduates can continue their education to the College level. Therefore, they need to be provided with the ability and skills to survive in their life after graduation. This study is focused on strengthening the learning experience characterized by life skills in the implementation of Curriculum 2013 in Senior High Schools in West Java, Indonesia. The purpose of the study is to determine the understanding of Senior High Schools’ principals and teachers in designing and implementing Curriculum 2013 and ensuring their graduates to have the skills to learn, to use information technology and media, and to be able to work and survive by using life skills. This research used a descriptive method, with a sample of Senior High Schools’ principals and teachers. The results show that there is still a variation of the teachers and principals’ degrees of understanding of life skills in the implementation of Curriculum 2013. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Belia adalah aset bernilai kepada negara dan menjadi harapan nusa bangsa untuk merealisasikan hasrat menjadi negara maju. Namun, dengan arus globalisasi yang melanda dunia, apa yang berlaku pada hari ini ialah penglibatan belia, termasuklah belia di institusi pengajian tinggi, dalam permasalahan akhlak yang menyimpang daripada nilai-nilai ke-Timur-an dan prinsip Islam, walaupun hakikatnya mereka telah melalui proses pendidikan agama secara formal di sekolah. Ini menimbulkan persoalan: Apakah permasalahan akhlak belia di institusi pengajian tinggi? Penglibatan mereka dalam tingkah-laku yang berisiko seolah-olah memberi petunjuk bahawa pendidikan di sekolah sahaja belum mencukupi untuk membentuk akhlak belia, dan menjadikan Islam sebagai satu cara hidup dalam kehidupan mereka pada hari ini. Justeru itu, artikel ini mengupas tentang konsep belia dan akhlak Islam, permasalahan akhlak belia di institusi pengajian tinggi, dan cara mengatasinya. Dalam konteks negara Malaysia, pembentukan akhlak belia untuk menjadi insan kamil yang cemerlang dan seimbang dari segi intelek dan spiritual adalah proses pendidikan sepanjang hayat dan perlu diberi penekanan selaras dengan pembangunan dan kemajuan negara-bangsa.KATA KUNCI: Belia; Akhlak; Institusi Pengajian Tinggi; Globalisasi; Pendidikan Tidak Formal.ABSTRACT: “Exploring the Issues of Morality among Youths in Higher Education Institution”. Youth is a valuable asset to the nation to realize the objective of becoming a developed nation. However, what is happening in the globalization era nowadays is the involvement of youths, including those in higher educations, in the behaviors that deviate from Eastern values and principles of Islam, despite the fact that they have been through the process of formal religious education in schools. This begs the question: What are the moral problems of youths in institutions of higher education? Their risky behaviors seem to indicate that school education alone is not sufficient to to form good morals in youths, and Islam can alternatively be made a way of life. Therefore, this article explores the concept of youths and Islamic morality, moral problems of youths in institutions of higher education, and how to overcome them. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The social media comprises of diverse applications with different main functions configurations and characteristics. This paper is to gain insight into the potential use of social media in the context of higher education and particularly into the teacher use of Facebook in their teaching. The literature review presented in this paper begins by synthesizing the definition and types of social media and exploring its characteristic as well as critically interrogating related studies as to how social media, particularly Facebook, is being used in order to connect learners and support teachers teaching. It can be concluded that social media comprises of diverse applications with different main functions configurations and characteristics. The most prevalent and high profile social media is SNSs (Social Network Sites), for example Facebook, that has proved its ability to assist education through numbers of studies which show its benefits in education, but then, again at the same time, has its own drawback if it is not used effectively in an educational context. Accordingly, more studies are needed pertaining the Facebook and its implication in order to examine students-teacher interaction and students’ engagement.KEY WORD: Social Media; Facebook; Implementation; Teachers Teaching; Higher Education. ABSTRAKSI: “Media Sosial dan Perlaksanannya di Pengajian Tinggi”. Media sosial terdiri daripada pelbagai aplikasi dengan ciri-ciri utama fungsi dan konfigurasi yang berlainan. Kertas ini adalah untuk mendapatkan maklumat tentang potensi penggunaan media sosial dalam konteks pendidikan tinggi dan terutamanya penggunaan Facebook dalam pengajaran guru. Kajian literatur dalam kertas ini bermula dengan mensintesis definisi dan jenis media sosial dan meneroka ciri-cirinya secara kritikal yang berkaitan tentang bagaimana media sosial, terutamanya Facebook, digunakan dalam menyokong pengajaran guru dan pembelajaran pelajar. Dapat disimpulkan bahawa media sosial terdiri daripada pelbagai aplikasi dengan fungsi dan ciri-ciri yang berbeza. Penggunaan media sosial yang tertinggi adalah SNSs (Social Network Sites), sebagai contoh Facebook, yang telah membuktikan keupayaan untuk membantu pendidikan melalui beberapa kajian terdahulu yang mana ia menyenaraikan faedah-faedahnya dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran, tetapi pada masa yang sama, sosial media mempunyai kelemahan sendiri jika ia tidak digunakan dengan berkesan dalam konteks pendidikan. Abstract

ABSTRACT: An organisation’s long term survival in today’s challenging environment will depend on constant adaptation to changes in the environment. The majority of behavioural theories acknowledged individual as the central focus. Certain environmental or situational factors and applicable change-related processes have been recognised and studied as having significant influence in determining individual, group, and organisational behaviours. In the context of readiness for change, the theory of planned behaviour would be suitable in assessing the change supporting attributes of employees in achieving a strong readiness for change status. The connection between the theory of planned behaviour and individual readiness for change is that if a person has positive evaluation of change effort (attitude), supported by his close peers (subjective norm), and is confident that such change efforts will be undertaken successfully (perceived behavioural control), there will be improved motivation (intention) to actually engage in the change effort (readiness for change). This paper will discuss the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the readiness for change in organizations.KEY WORD: Readiness for Change; Attitude; Intention; Organisation; Human Resource Development. ABSTRAKSI: “Teori Tingkah-Laku Terancang dan Kesediaan untuk Berubah: Implikasi pada Organisasi”. Jangka hayat sesebuah organisasi dalam persekitaran yang mencabar hari ini bergantung kepada penyesuaian yang berterusan terhadap perubahan persekitaran. Kebanyakan teori tingkah-laku mengakui bahawa individu merupakan tumpuan utama dalam perubahan. Faktor persekitaran atau situasi tertentu dan proses yang berkaitan dengan perubahan juga telah diiktiraf dan dikaji sebagai mempunyai pengaruh yang besar dalam menentukan tingkah-laku individu, kumpulan, dan organisasi. Dalam konteks kesediaan untuk berubah, teori tingkah-laku terancang adalah sesuai dalam menilai perubahan sifat-sifat pekerja dalam menentukan kesediaan mereka yang kukuh untuk berubah. Hubungan antara teori tingkah-laku terancang dan kesediaan untuk berubah adalah berkaitan dengan: seseorang mempunyai penilaian positif terhadap usaha untuk berubah (sikap), disokong pula oleh rakan-rakannya yang rapat (norma subjektif), dan yakin bahawa usaha perubahan tersebut dilaksanakan dengan jayanya (kawalan tingkah-laku) dan motivasi yang ditambah baik (niat) akan benar-benar terlibat dalam usaha perubahan (kesediaan untuk berubah). Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study is to analyze the literature about nature and importance of learning style construct to overall human learning and especially school learning. A certain research interest group raises questions about the credibility, validity, and usefulness of this construct in school learning. Applicability, usefulness, financial aspects, and lack of cohesive theory were the basic criticisms for supporting school learning environment to adopted individual student learning style, especially when there are some other options, such as effective teaching and school environment that can also enhance and affect students’ learning. The criticisms on learning style construct need to be assessed on the basis of these premises. This explorative study focuses on the literature that supports the issues of validity, effectiveness, and applicability of learning style construct in school learning and general learning. The relationship of learning styles to academic achievements, attitudes toward learning, and multimedia technology was identified as the important element. There are clear and marked differences between cognitive and learning style. But, we have seen massive research to support the validity and usefulness of learning style construct in general and in school learning situations. Kajian ini menganalisis literatur mengenai sifat dan kepentingan konstruk gaya pembelajaran bagi pembelajaran manusia secara am dan khasnya pembelajaran di sekolah. Satu kumpulan minat penyelidikan tertentu membangkitkan pemerihalan tentang kredibiliti, kesahan, dan kegunaan konstruk ini dalam pembelajaran sekolah. Kebolehgunaan, kegunaan, aspek kewangan, dan kekurangan teori yang padu merupakan kritikan asas untuk menyokong persekitaran pembelajaran sekolah dengan gaya pembelajaran pelajar individu, terutamanya apabila terdapat beberapa pilihan lain, seperti pengajaran yang berkesan, persekitaran sekolah yang juga boleh meningkatkan dan memberi kesan kepada pembelajaran pelajar. Kritikan terhadap konstruk gaya pembelajaran harus dinilai berasaskan premis ini. Kajian penerokaan ini memberi tumpuan kepada literatur, yang menyokong isu-isu sah, keberkesanan dan kesesuaian konstruk gaya pembelajaran dalam pembelajaran sekolah dan pembelajaran secara am. Hubungan gaya pembelajaran dengan pencapaian akademik, sikap terhadap pembelajaran dan teknologi multimedia telah dikenal pasti sebagai satu elemen penting. Terdapat perbezaan yang jelas dan ketara antara gaya kognitif dan pembelajaran. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Penelitian ini menjelaskan perkembangan kesenian Angklung Buncis di Kecamatan Cigugur, Kabupaten Kuningan, Jawa Barat, yang memiliki peranan penting dalam upacara Seren Taun yang diadakan oleh masyarakat adat Paseban. Masalah utama yang dibahas adalah bagaimana perkembangan kesenian Angklung Buncis di Kecamatan Cigugur, Kabupaten Kuningan, pada tahun 1980-2010. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi historis dan budaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kesenian Angklung Buncis di Kecamatan Cigugur, Kabupaten Kuningan berada dalam lingkup masyarakat adat Paseban dan lahir melalui ide kreatif sesepuh adat, yaitu Pangeran Djatikusumah. Terdapat perkembangan fungsi dalam kesenian tradisional Angklung Buncis, yakni dari fungsi sakral berubah menjadi hiburan dan profan. Perkembangan fungsi tersebut terjadi karena permalasahan yang terdapat dalam lingkup masyarakat adat Paseban dan tuntutan zaman. Selain itu, ada perubahan dalam aspek penampilan, lagu, jumlah pemain, dan laras dalam kesenian Angklung Buncis, dengan tujuan untuk mempertahankan keberlangsungan kesenian tradisional tersebut di tengah-tengah perkembangan teknologi yang semakin maju. KATA KUNCI: Angklung Buncis; Masyarakat Cigugur; Agama Djawa-Sunda; Upacara Seren Taun; Tradisi dan Globalisasi. ABSTRACT: “From Sacral to Profan: Ups and Down of Angklung Buncis Art in Kuningan District, West Java, Year 1980-2010”. This study describes the development of Angklung Buncis Art in Cigugur Subdistrict, Kuningan District, West Java, Indonesia, which has an important role in “Seren Taun” ceremony which held by indigenous peoples of Paseban. The main issue discussed was how the Angklung Buncis Art can be develop in 1980-2010. The method used in this research is qualitative with historical study and cultural approaches. The results showed that the Angklung Buncis Art in Cigugur, Kuningan are within the scope of indigenous peoples of Paseban and born through creative ideas from Prince Djatikusumah. There are developments in the functions of the traditional arts of Angklung Buncis, namely from sacred function turned into entertainment and profan. The development of these functions occur because contained within the scope of indigenous peoples Paseban and globalization. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kesulitan belajar Matematika dan perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir logis siswa, yang diberi perlakuan pembelajaran LIT (Local Instruction Theory) dengan pendekatan PMR (Pendidikan Matematika Realistik) dengan siswa yang hanya diberi pendekatan PMR saja. Metode penelitian berupa “design research”, dengan subjek penelitian berjumlah 184 siswa SMP (Sekolah Menengah Pertama), yang berasal dari peringkat sekolah yang berbeda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kesulitan belajar yang dialami siswa SMP adalah karena sulit dalam memahami variabel, koefisien, dan konstanta; sulit membaca maksud soal, sulit menyusun strategi dalam menyelesaikan soal; sulit dalam proses perhitungan; dan masih salah dalam penulisan persamaan. Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir logis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan LIT dalam PMR ternyata lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan PMR saja. Perlu kajian lanjutan untuk melihat pengaruh penggunaan LIT dalam PMR terhadap kemampuan Matematis lainnya dan pada berbagai level sekolah.KATA KUNCI: Local Instruction Theory; Kesulitan Belajar; Pendidikan Matematika Realistik; Siswa SMP; Berpikir Logis. ABSTRACT: “The Local Instruction Theory in Realistic Mathematics Education for Improving the Ability of Logical Thinking”. The objective of this study was to determine the Mathematical learning difficulties and differences increase students' ability to think logically whose treated by learning approach LIT (Local Instruction Theory) with RME (Realistic Mathematics Education) and students treated by PMR learning approach only. The research method in the form of design research, with research subjects totaling 184 of JHS (Junior High School) students, derived from different school rankings. The research findings show that the difficulties of learning experienced by JHS students were caused by difficult to understand the variables, coefficients, and constants; difficult to read, to interpret the intent problems, to strategize in solving problems; difficult in the process of calculation; and still wrong in writing the equation. The increasing of logical thinking ability of students in learning to use LIT with RME is higher than students whose learning by using RME only.
