Empirisma; Jurnal Pemikiran dan Kebudayaan Islam
EMPIRISMA (P-ISSN: 1829-9563, E-ISSN: 2503-1694) is a peer-reviewed journal affiliated with the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Social Sciences, State College for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Kediri. It mainly focuses on religious studies under three main categories: religion and theology, religion and contemporary issues, and religion and sacred texts. To reach wider audience and readership, articles in this journal are using two main languages: Indonesian and English. All the submitted articles are blindly peer-reviewed and carefully edited according to academic standards. This journal is published biannually in January and July.

<![CDATA[According to Abdulaziz Sachedina, the main argument of religious pluralism in the Qur’an based on the relationship between private belief (personal) and public projection of Islam in society. By regarding to private faith, the Qur’an being noninterventionist (for example, all forms of human authority should not be disturb the inner beliefs of individuals). While the public projection of faith, the Qur’an attitude based on the principle of coexistence. There is the willingness of the dominant race provide the freedom for people of other faiths with their own rules. Rules could shape how to run their affairs and to live side by side with the Muslims. Thus, based on the principle that the people of Indonesia are Muslim majority, it should be a mirror of a societie’s recognizion, respects and execution of religious pluralism. Abdul Aziz Sachedina called for Muslims to rediscover the moral concerns of public Islam in peace. The call for peace seemed to indicate that the existence of increasingly weakened in the religious sense of the Muslims and hence need to be reaffi rmed. Sachedina also like to emphasize that the position of peace in Islam is parallel with a variety of other doctrines, such as: prayer, fasting, pilgrimage and so on. Sachedina also tried to show the argument that the common view among religious groups is only one religion and traditions of other false and worthless. “Antipluralist†argument comes amid the reality of human religious differences. <![CDATA[This study aims to uncover the concept of dÄÂr al-islÄÂm and the application of sharia in the context of the state according to Nahdhatul Ulama as one of the traditionalist views. The significance of this research lies in the ways and views of NU that differ from modernist understandings such as the Indonesian Islamic State (NII), even Masyumi in understanding dÄÂr al-islÄÂm. It cannot be denied, NU is a massive massive religious organization whose thoughts and movements greatly influence the religious dynamics in Indonesia and have an important role in the formalization of formalization of sharia in the body of the state. Methodologically, this research is a library research which is approached with a historical approach. One-way approach is needed because this research takes historical thinking. The data collected draws on the results of the 11th Congress of the NU Congress in Banjarmasin as primary data, while books and other documents become secondary data. The data collected is analyzed for validity through content analysis to create replicable inference. The conclusion of the study is the concept of dÄÂr al-islÄÂm according to NU does not make Islam as a formal Islamic state that requires the enactment of sharia. However, what is meant by the concept of dÄÂr al-islÄÂm is a religious term that means wilayat al-islamiyah (Islamic territory) which must be preserved and maintained as a unity as part of the Islamic tradition. So with this concept all Muslims are required to fight and expel invaders from the motherland. <![CDATA[Hermeneutics is one of the popular subjects in the world, especially in Indonesia. The subject of hermeneutics is taught in Islamic universities in Indonesia, particularly in the faculty of Ushuluddin. This paper will examine hermeneutics as a method of Qur’anic interpretation. It argues that hermeneutics is in fact based on negative assumptions about sacred texts, leading to the desacralization of the texts as well as the relativism of religious truth. This paper found that hermeneutics is relevant only as a method of biblical interpretation. <![CDATA[This project attempts to discover how the worldview of ascetic practice among the Abangans in “Bumi Pertapaan alas Ketonggo-Ngawi-East Javaâ€Â. This research wants to prove that the worldview of some ascetics maintains that all of their practices in Ketonggo have strong correlation to several spirits, a kind of syncreticism and mysterious realm. The data in this research is collected through participant observation around 5 mounts in two sacral places of Ketonggo forest (Petilasan Brawijaya and Eyang Srigati and Tapa Kungkum in Tempur River). The fi rst phase of the project involves interviewing around 10 pilgrimages who practice the ritual, some native people and central fi gure of Ketonggo forest. This paper concludes that of the ascetic practices both in Petilasan Brawijaya V and Kungkum in Tempur River has strong understanding and correlation to some sacred powers and spirits in the Ketonggo forest. <![CDATA[The Islamic Defense Movement movement had made headlines from various national media outlets in Indonesia. Although the last series of demonstrations, when this research was written, took place on December 2nd, 2016, the echoes of the Islamic Defense Action can still be seen in various opinions of internet users on social networks. This study discusses the perceptions behind internet users’ opinions of the action, using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method. Taking a sample of Twitter Twitter chants, the authors make a percentage of the main ideas behind the various opinions. <![CDATA[slam and philosophy are two different terms in which the first refers to a religion, which absolute truth overcomes all space and time, brought by Allah’s most beloved Prophet, Muhammad SAW. The latter represents human activity in utilizing their intellect, optimizing their consciousness to reach understanding on any existence. Thus, this paper attempts to explore the belief that Islam must have established a set of implementation and technical guidance for philosophy. This paper aims to avoid ambiguity and confusion to determine the truth as seen in the history of philosophy. <![CDATA[Wacana muslim moderat merupakan upaya untuk mendialogkan antara Islam dan ke-Indonesiaan. Wacana ini diejawantahkan melalui dua gerakan yang mewakili dua organisasi besar Islam, yakni Islam Nusantara (NU) dan Islam Berkemajuan (Muhammadiyah). Penelitian ini berusaha untuk memetakan tiga wacana tersebut dalam sosial media, khususnya Twitter. Objek penelitian ini adalah tweet sejak 24 Februari – 26 Maret 2018 dengan kata kunci ‘Muslim Moderat’, ‘Islam Nusantara’, “Islam Berkemajuan’, dan ‘Islam Demokrasi’. Penelitian ini menggunakan empat tahap analisis, (1) estimasi jumlah netizen yang terlibat (2) tingkat sentimen, (3) keterhubungan topik (hashtag), (4) jejaring akun (name network). Hasilnya, wacana ‘muslim moderat’ belum memiliki kekuatan yang signifikan dalam mempengaruhi netizen di media sosial. <![CDATA[Shame (malu in Indonesia or malo in Madura) is closely related to pride for Madurese people. Malo is frequently become postulate to make a deal with violence which is known by carok or fight using weapons to recover that pride. For that, it is necessary to discuss how that exactly the meaning construction of malo for Madurese people is and how that malo creates social ethic and religion in Madura. This study used a qualitative approach with the constructive paradigm, and its technique used visible observation, in-depth interview, documentation and library research. Result of this study showed that malo is such a kind of expression for Madurese people to defend their reputation and pride. All kind of defenses will be taken in order to prevent this malo, even if it is an extreme act which leads to death. This coincides with Madurese philosophy as ca’oca’ which stated that “Better to die than live to bear malo”. The big problem will usually occur if this malo was bothered by religious friction and offends the family honor. This malo is a logic consequence as social and religious ethic around Madurese people. Therefore, malo then forms a mindset and gives a positive lifestyle by maintaining social and religiousethic, in order to honor a pride value and human right.Keywords: The meaning construction, malo, ca’oca’, Madurese culture.Abstrak]]>

<![CDATA[In order to pursue educational equity for Indonesian citizens , the government has issued a policy on inclusive educational programs in schools. The programs aim to provide for all children, including those with special needs. Schools that implement inclusive education should accommodate the students with special needs in terms of curriculum, teachers, lesson facilities, and learning activities. Based on a field research, this article examines the implementation of inclusive education in YBPK Junior High School Kediri, which is the first inclusive Junior High School in Kediri where most of students require special needs.
