TITLEThe relationship between oral hygiene status and learning achievement of students in SD Negeri 2 Sangga Beru, Gunung Meriah, Aceh SingkilABSTRACTDental and oral health is art of physical health which cannot be separated from one to each other. The main problem is that many school children are affected by caries which can decrease their learning ability. The objective of the research was to find out the correlation between dental and oral health status and elementary school students’ learning performance.The research used analytic descriptive method with cross sectional study design. The samples were 70 elementary school students, taken by using random sampling technique. Primary data were gathered by conducting clinical examination and secondary data by finding out progress report cards. The gathered data were analyzed by using bivatriate analysis with chi square statistic test.The result of the research showed that 50% of the respondents had good dental and health status (def-t and DMF-T), 32.9% of them had moderate def-t and DMF-T, and 17.1% of them had bad def-t and DMF-T. It was also found that 42.9% of the respondents had bad learning performance, 38.6% of them had moderate learning performance, and 18.6% of them had good learning performance. The result of chi square test showed that there was significant correlation between dental and oral health status and students’ learning performance at SDN 2 Sangga Beru, Gunung Meriah Subdistrict, Aceh Singkil District at p-value = 0.009 (p ≤ 0.05). The conclusion of the research was that dental and oral health status could influence learning performance.Key words : Dental and Oral Health Status, Learning Performance

TITLEExternal factors associated with causative of dental caries in pre-school children in PAUD Strowberry RW 03, Bangetayu Wetan, Semarang City in 2016ABSTRACTDental Caries is a disease that attacks the dental tissue by damaging the tissue starts from the tooth surface and spread to pulp. Some external factor provokes dental caries are the environment, behaviour, heath care and heredity. 71% preschoolers at PAUD Strowberry have dental karies. This research is to understand the factor that causes dental caries towards preschoolers at PAUD Strowberry.This research uses quantities descriptive with cross sectional to write the essay. Using totalsampling method for searching the sample includes the sum of the preschoolers at PAUD Strowberry that are infected by dental caries. There are 34 preschoolers that have dental caries. Using questionnaire method to the preschooler’s parents to gather the information for the research we need. The validation and the reliability of the information from the questionnaire has been testedby 20 of the preschooler’s parents at PAUD KasihIbu RW 02. The method to analysis the information using Odds ratio.The result showed the ignorance about dental caries is 76%, bad attitude while brushing teeth is 65%, bad action about causes dental caries is 76%, unhealthy environments for the family is 62%, the ignorance of health care about curing is 68%, and unhealthty heredity about dental caries is 65%. It can be concluded from this research is the knowledge of the disease it the main element that cause dental caries towards preschoolers at PAUD Strowberry. So, the parents should take care therekids teethby brushing their teeth twice a day. Key words : Dental Caries, External Factors, Children

TITLEThe effect of honey water consumption to acidity level of pH saliva in elementary school childrenABSTRACTCommunities can take advantage of traditional medicine such as honey as an alternative medicine to reduce the formation of dental plaque. Honey containing antibiotics as antibacterial and antiseptic keeping the wound. Natural honey contains a lot of enzymes, that is very complex of protein molecul, produced by living cells and have function as catalyst, which is : The speed reaction modifier substance in the chemical process. The process happened within the body of every living beings. Based on preliminary studies to 10 students saliva examination average student salivary pH less than 7 below normal, and students have an average of dental caries 2. Research objective is to know the average level of acidity pH of saliva before and after drinking honey.Quasi-Experimental research type, research using pretest-posttest design With Control Group. Total sample of 60 students, by means of random sampling. Test analysis by T-Test.PH study results before and after drinking the honey of significance is p = 0.05 0.05. TITLEThe association of knowledge and dental nurse attitudes with therapeutic-communication application in dental clinic of Puskesmas Kapubaten AgamABSTRACTOne of the competence standards of dental nurses is able to conduct a therapeutic communication at the dental health service with their clients; among the communicated matters are describing the activities that will be conducted, giving the clients the chances to ask, planning the follow-ups, and conducting contracts of the next dental care. This research has the objective of analyzing the factors influencing dental nurses in implementing the therapeutic communication at the Dental Service Division of the Public Health Center of Agam Regency.This research was an explanatory research, with survey as the research method, using the cross-sectional approach. The research samples were all dental nurses working at the Public Health Center of Agam Regency, as many as 41 people. Data were collected by direct interviews using a structured questionnaire.The research results showed that the implementation of therapeutic communication at the Dental Service Division of the Public Health Center of Agam Regency was still inadequate (63.4%). Variables that were significantly related to the dependent variable is the attitude variables (p. Value 0.008), whereas knowledge of dental nurses did not reveal any significant association with the application of therapeutic communication (p. Value 0.743). TITLEThe influence of dental braille education (DBE) to oral hygiene of blind childrenABSTRACTBlind children has poor oral hygiene. Such condition due to tooth brushing is not monitored, other factors such as brushing technique, motor skills and mentoring assistance are still negligible. Besides the lack of visualization to understand and master the techniques of oral hygiene practices. This study aimed to analyze the influence of Braille Dental Education (DBE) against Oral Hygiene in blind children.Pre-experimental research design with the group pre-posttest design, further examination Plaque Index before the intervention. Intervention is given on a sample in the form of DBE and then evaluated at day 21. The outputs or outcomes in this study of assessment of the degree oral hygiene using the Plaque Index and DBE-shaped booklet. The research sample using purposive sampling method. Data analysis using descriptive statistics in the form of tables (boxplot or diagram), then the bivariate analysis using the non-parametric Wilcoxon to determine changes in oral hygiene on the results of the pretest to posttest results. Analysis of the data in this study using a computer program to test the hypothesis based on a significance level of 0.05 with 95% confidence level.The results of the analysis of the difference in oral hygiene change from pretest to posttest showed no significant changes, indicated by Z = -3.126 and p = 0.002 (p 0.005). It can be concluded that the hypothesis that there was an effect on oral hygiene DBE in blind children is acceptable because it is essentially a state intelligence of blind children is not different from normal children, and therefore requires an approach and good communication in handling it. TITLEEducation with audio-visual and modeling methods to tooth brushing education in elementary school childrenABSTRACTThe maintenance of oral health as well as health coaching teeth, especially in children of school groups need special attention because at this age children are undergoing the process of growth and development. Previous dental state will affect the development of dental health in adulthood. Through training programs is expected to increase knowledge and raise awareness of the importance of maintaining oral health and able to participate actively in increasing efforts to maintain self. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of extension methods and audio visual demonstration of the knowledge brushing teeth.This research uses descriptive quantitative method is a method of research conducted with the main objective to create a picture or a description of a situation in an objective that has to do with the problems examined. The instrument used was the questionnaire.From the results of the study conducted by researchers in the field to the students of class V and VI Elementary School Pedalangan 02 Semarang is known that after counseling with the demonstration of the results obtained knowledge of students of class V in both categories with a score of 7 and after counseling with audio visual results obtained knowledge graders VI enter both categories with a value 6.95. It can be concluded that the extension demonstration and extension with audio visual effective for use in improving the knowledge toothbrushing on elementary school children.Key words : Counseling method of demonstration and audio visual, knowledge of brushing teeth

TITLEAnalysis of organization-practice effect toward performance and satisfaction of Poltekes Kemenkes Semarang civitas academicABSTRACTOrganizational culture in Health Polytechnic of Semarang to implementation for college’s quality assurance system would guide the academic community of Health Polytechnic Semarang about how a job is well done and what is important. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of organizational culture on the performance and satisfaction of the academic community in Health Polytechnic Semarang to implementation of College’s Quality Assurance System.The method used to collect data in this study is a survey method. The research design used for user satisfaction survey of graduates is a cross -sectional (cross-sectional). The research variabels include: Organizational Culture , Academic Community Performance and Satisfaction in the implementation of College’s Quality Assurance System in Health Polytechnic Semarang and stakeholder satisfaction about Health Polytechnic Semarang’s graduate.The results showed that most respondents performs well and satisfied with the implementation of the College’s Quality Assurance System. Stakeholder satisfaction levels for Health Polytechnic Semarang graduates are in the category of "enough". With components that the highest satisfaction level in the integrity and the lowest on self-development component. Organizational culture variables that affect performance are: innovation and the courage to take risks, attention to detail things, people orientation, and stability, as well as the most influential are: stability. Variable organizational culture that influence satisfaction is the attention to detail matters, people orientation, and stability, while the most influential is the attention to detail matters. TITLEThe effect of apple and guava chewing to debris indexABSTRACTDebris is food accumulation contained in the oral cavity, if not promptly cleaned will cause dental caries disease. Debris can be cleaned mechanically or chemically. One of the way to clean debris by chewing apples and guava, fibrous texture and juicy fruit, so it can clean teeth naturally. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of chewing an apple and red guava against debris index.This research method is quasy experimental with pre and post test design. Population were students aged 8-10 years. Samples are 40 students who were divided into 2 groups: 20 students as treatment group chewing apples and 20 students chewing guava as control group. Sampling using total sampling techniques. Independent variables was munching apples and guava red while dependent variable was debris index,Results: from paired T test showed the results of p = 0.000, mean p 0.05, while the independent T test showed the results of p = 0,001, meaning p Value of 0.05. Conclusion: Chewing apples and guava red effect on the index debris. Chewing apples are more effective than chewing guava in decreasing debris index. Key words : apple, guava red, debris index

TITLEThe relationship between toothpick usage and gingival pocket on society of Dusun II, Desa Marindal II, Patumbak, Deli Serdang in 2016ABSTRACTToothpick is a piece of wooden or plastic stick used to remove food accumulated from teeth. The improper use of toothpick can damage the soft tissues around the tooth and cause inflammation on the mucosa tissue of the oral cavity. The preliminary survey conducted in Dusun II, Mariendal II Village, Patumbak Sub-district found that 25% of the residents who used toothpick complaint about bleeding gum and gap-tooth.This is an analytical research with case control method with population of 520 people. The samples were 52 respondents who were divided into two groups; the first 26 respondents used toothpick and the other 26 respondents did not use toothpick.The results showed that the uses of toothpick may cause periodontal pocket compared to the group who did not use them. It could be seen from the score difference for CPITN (Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs), the highest score indicated by the group that used toothpick was 3 which was represented by 53.8% and the highest score obtained by the group that did not use toothpick was 2 which was represented by 73.1%. The statistical analysis with chi-square test gained probability value 0.0001 (p0.05). In conclusion, H0 was rejected which meant that there was a correlation between the uses of toothpick and the incidence of periodontal pocket. Key words : Toothpick, Periodontal Pocket

ABSTRACT The degree of acidity of pH saliva is a way to measure the degree of acid or alkaline of the saliva liquid. Gargling is the simple way to maintain the cleanliness of the teeth and the mouth.the fruits which contain of sour taste are chosen, strawberry and lemon fruits are chosen than any other fruits because they contain sour taste and produce fresh taste. They can use to make infused water. The objectives of this research are to determine the alteration of pH saliva before and after given treatment or gargling using strawberry and lemon infused water. The researcher used Quasi Experimental or Experimental Pseudo Method. The researcher used pretest and posttest in the research design. The researcher divided two group designs. Both of them were given the same treatment by measuring the pH saliva before and after giving treatment. The sample of lemon infused water are 40 and the strawberry are also 40, so the total of the sample are 80 responden. Data analysis uses independent frequency and statistical distribusi of t-test. The result of the research are about the difference of pH saliva before and after given the treatment using lemon and strawberry infused water. The difference of average of pH saliva before anf after given the treatment using lemon infused water is 0,3. Then, the difference of average of pH saliva before and after given the treatment using strawberry infused water is 0,4. In conclusion, both of them are equally can recude pH saliva, but using strawberry infused water work much better than lemon. The need to do more of this research is using different fruit, such as grape, kiwi, and star fruit.Keywords : The degree of acidity of PH saliva, Lemon and Strawberry infused water
