Abstract

Background : Females adolescence are at high risk of chronic energy deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia, therefoe they require adequate energy for optimal growth and development. The common nutritional problem in adolescence are skipping breakfast and inadequate breakfast energy. The level of breakfast consumption for adolenscence in Indonesia was relatively low. Breakfast is useful to provide energy storage for activities in school. Irregular breakfast habits and inadequate breakfast energy could decrease productivity and nutritional status of adolescent. Objective: To determine the correlation between frequency of breakfast and contribution of breakfast energy with the nutritional status of females adolescence.Method: This study was a cross sectional design. The subjects were students on 8th and 9th grade in Madrasah Tsanawiyah aged 13-15 years. Frequency and contribution of breakfast energy were obtained from interviews with questionnaires. The nutritional status of females adolescent were obtained by using BMI z-scores according to age. The data were processed and analyzed using Gamma Sommers’ correlation test. Results: There was correlation between frequency of breakfast with the nutritional status of females adolescence (p = 0.033). There was correlation between contribution of breakfast energy with the nutritional status of females adolescence (p = 0.039).Conclusion: Frequency of breakfast was correlated with nutritional status of adolescence girls. The contribution of breakfast energy was also correlated with the nutritional status of females adolescence.

Abstract

Background : Anemia is a nutritional problem in Indonesia which was characterized by a condition where the  red blood cells or hemoglobin levels is lower than the normal value. Nutritional anemia is caused by deficiency nutrients that play a role in the formation of hemoglobin, due to inadequate consumption or absorption disorders. These nutrients are iron, protein, vitamin B12 which act as catalysts in hem synthesis in hemoglobin molecules, vitamin C, zinc which affect iron absorption and vitamin E which affect the stability of the red blood cell membrane. Most of these are iron nutrient anemia. Females adolescent are more susceptible to anemia compared than men. The minimum of hemoglobin levels in females adolescent to diagnose as anemia is when hemoglobin levels are less than 12 g / dl.Objective : To increase hemoglobin levels of females adolescents by providing tempeh flour-based snacksMethod : In this study, an attempt had made to create tempe-based formula in the form of pizza which was high in iron and protein, the availability of tempe flour was great because the absorption disturbing agent was damaged by the fermentation process. The analysis was carried out to observe the difference in Hb levels in the treatment group (given tempe flour pizza) and control (given a regular pizza) and the relationship between BMI, nutrients-intake and consumption compliance with Hb levels.Result : The results showed there was an increase in Hb levels of 1.21 g% in the treatment group (61.54%). Nevertheless, the increase did not statistically significant. There was no relationship between BMI, nutrients intake and compliance with pizza consumption to increase Hb levels.Conclussion : Administration of tempeh fluor-based pizza for a month could increase Hb levels by 1.21 g/dl in most study participant, but it did not statistically significant.

Abstract

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a risk factors for metabolic disorders such as high levels of triglyceride, blood sugar, blood pressure, central obesity and the low of HDL(NCEP-ATP III criteria). These risk factors are important to detect earlier. The worldwide prevalence of MetS were increased up to 20 – 25% and based on Riskesdas data from 2013 to 2018, the prevalence of MetS component were increased. Objective: To examine the risk of physiology and behavioral factors towards MetS incidents in Tlogosari Kulon PHC area.Method: An observational research with case-control design which involved 50 sampels aged 25 – 65 years in Tlogosari Kulon PHC area. Physiology factors were included gender, age, and genetic history which were collected through interview. Nutritional status based on anthropometric measurement, meanwhile the behavioral factors, including physical activities which were collected using an IPAQ and the knowledge factors were collected through 20 question which were collected by interview. Triglyceride, fasting blood sugar and HDL were measured using a spectrophotometer. Statistical analysis were used Chi-Square and Logistic Regression.Result: The chi-square test showed that there were significant relations between age (95% CI = 1,510 – 21,424; OR = 5,688), nutritional status (95% CI = 1,446 – 17,922; OR = 5,091), genetic history (95% CI = 1,170 – 12,194; OR = 3,778) and physical activity (95% CI = 1,180 – 12,606; OR = 3.857) with MetS incidents (p0,05). The logistic regression test showed that age (95% CI = 1,271 – 33,256; OR = 6,502) and nutritional status (95% CI = 1,038 – 25,957; OR = 5,191) were the most dominant variables toward the MetS incidents. Physiology and behavioral factors were contributed 47,8% to the MetS incidents. Conclusion: Age and nutritional status affect MetS incidents in Tlogosari Kulon PHC area.

Abstract

Background :Stunting is called a cross-generation nutritional problem caused by multifactors including genetic factors (maternal height). Another factor causing stunting is lack of nutrition. ASI fulfills all of the baby's nutritional needs, so breastfeeding status also affects the incidence of stunting. Objective : to determine the relationship of exclusive breastfeeding and maternal height with the incidence of stunting in children aged 6-36 months in the UPTD of the Ulee Kareng Health Center in Banda Aceh. Methods : This research is descriptive analytical research with cross sectional design with a quantitative approach. It was held on May-June 2019. The population of this study was all children aged 6-36 months in the UPTD of the Health Center Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh. The sample size was 81 children aged 6-36 months. The sampling technique in this study was accidental sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire to determine toddler identity and the identity of the respondent. Measurement of height using microtoice, and body length was measured using an infrantometer Analysis of data using the chi square test with a 0.05 degree of confidence.Result : Based on the results of the study, children who received exclusive breastfeeding were 51.9%. Short mother 58%. Normal child 51.9%. There is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and maternal height with the incidence of stunting in children aged 6-36 months. With p-value 0.05. Namely exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in children (p-value = 0.011). Maternal height with incidence of stunting in children (p-value = 0.028).Conclusion : Exclusive breastfeeding and maternal height have a relationship with the incidence of stunting in children aged 6-36 months in the UPTD of the Health Center Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh. So it is expected that mothers give exclusive breastfeeding for babies as an effort to prevent stunting.
