This study was conducted to examine whether there is or not any significant effect of Time Token Arends towards students’ speaking skill at the second year students’ of SMA Negeri 1 Kontukowuna. This research was conducted in pre-experimental research design. The population of this study was all students of SMA Negeri 1 Kontukowuna with the total of the students were 193 students, while the subject of this research was the second grade science program (XI IPA1 class) which consists of 23 students. The data of this research were collected by giving pre-test and post-test to students in the form of oral test related to the topic of report text. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 version (descriptive analysis and inferential statistics). As for testing the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test (paired sample t-test) which was calculated through SPSS 16,0. The result showed that there was a significant effect of time token technique towards students’ speaking skill at the second year students of SMA Negeri 1 Kontukowuna in terms of accuracy and fluency. It can be seen from the mean score of post-test was 55,22, while the mean score of pre-test was 31,96. In order to prove the hypothesis, the researcher took the conclusion by comparing between the value of Sig (2 tailed) with the significance α value. It showed that the value of Sig (2 tailed) was 0.000 while the significance α value was 0.05. So, it can be concluded that the value of Sig (2 tailed) was lower than the significance α value (0.000 < 0.05). In other words, (H1) was accepted. Besides, the successful improving of students’ speaking skill at the students of XI IPA1 class as the subject of this study did not happen directly without any supporting factors, such as students’ motivation in learning English, students’ intelligence, an interesting topic and a group work activity.

The objective of this research was to find out the effect of using probing prompting on students’ writing achievement at tenth grade of MAN 1 Bombana. This research applied quasi experimental design that consist of experimental class and control class. The sample of this research were students at class X IPA and X IPS in MAN 1 Bombana who were register in academic years 2019/2020. The sample taken by using cluster random sampling and the total numbers of students are 46, 22 for experimental class (X IPA) and 24 for control class (X IPS). The research instrument was written test which focus on narrative text. The researcher collected the data by giving pre-test in both of the classes, giving treatment in experimental by giving probing prompting and non-probing prompting in control class, and giving post-test in both of the classes. In analyzing the data were used SPSS 16.0 version. To examine the hypothesis the researcher used an independent sample t-test. Based on the result, it showed that students’ mean score of post-test in experimental class is 64.35. It is raised 9.83 point from its pre-test (54.52). While students’ mean score of post-test in control class is 56.82. It is only raised 4.97 point from its pre-test (51.85). Besides, the value of degree of freedom (df)= 42, t=4.574, and sig (2 tailed)=0.000. It means that the probability (sig) value is lower than α ( p value < α or 0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, probingprompting had a significant effect on students’ writing achievement at tenth grade of MAN 1 Bombana.

Then, the data were analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 version by using (descriptive analysis and inferential statistics). The descriptive analysis used for describing the data of this study, such as the mean score, median, standard deviation, the maximum scores, and the minimum scores. While inferential statistics used to examine the hypothesis of this study (H1). For testing the hypothesis of this study, the researcher used a paired sample t-test which was calculated through SPSS 16.0. The result shows that there is a significant effect of Match Mine technique on students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade students of Senior High School 10 Kendari. It can be seen at the mean score of post-test. The mean score of post test is 53.64, while the mean score of pre-test is 31.14. In order to prove the hypothesis, the researcher compares the value of Sig (2 tailed) with the significance α value. In this study, the value of Sig (2 tailed) is 0.000 while the significance α value is 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the value of Sig (2 tailed) is lower than the significance α value (0.000 < 0.05). In other words, (H1) is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of Match Mine technique on students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade students of Senior High School 10 Kendari. In addition, the student’s speaking accuracy and fluency are better than before. Furthermore, the result of the finding above also shows that Match Mine technique can affect students’ motivation and communicative skill and the result of the finding also can be affected by students’ intelligence itself.
