Abstract

Film Iqro My Universe is an Islamic nuanced film that has many moral messages, one of which is being serious about achieving your dreams. The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myths of Islamic moral messages contained in the film Iqro My Universe. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The theory used in analyzing this data is using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory analysis. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the meaning of denotation in each scene and dialogue of the characters has an explanation that really visualizes everyday life in a family. The connotations in this film include helping each other, being devoted to both parents, having aspirations with the intention of seeking God's pleasure. The meaning of myth is based on the verses of the Qur'an and the culture of the Islamic community in living daily life. Keywords: Message of Moral; Film; Semiotics; Islam.

Abstract

This paper thoroughly describes the forms of da'wah messages contained in the book Worshiping The Wrong God by Ahmad Rifa'i Rif'an in terms of the category of da'wah messages and message equalization techniques. The research method used in this research is a descriptive method, which is a series of procedures and also stages in carrying out research activities with the aim of solving problems with Ahmad Rifa'i Rif'an's book entitled "worshiping the Wrong God" which is the object, and documentation studies as methods used for data collection. Researchers collected these messages based on the categorization of dawah messages and messaging techniques. In terms of the category of da'wah messages, sharia da'wah message is the type of message that is most widely conveyed in the book. In terms of messaging techniques, informative messages are more delivered than persuasive and coercive messages. Keywords : Dawah Message, Message Category, Message Delivery

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth in MDC Instagram posts. The method used is a qualitative method that describes the meaning of da'wah messages about morality in MDC Instagram posts using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis of the meaning of denotation (explicit), connotative meaning (implied), the meaning of myth. The results showed that of the thirteen posts about morality posted on the MDC Instagram account from January to September 2021, there were illustrations of Islamic images, designs, and qoutes which were widely used as a means to convey da'wah messages to the public. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the da'wah communication strategies of Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) through three approaches: digital mass communication, interpersonal communication, and constructivism within the framework of Islamic communication theory. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The findings show that (1) digital media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram are effective in reaching Generation Z through visual language and concise narratives; (2) UAS's interpersonal communication in face-to-face sermons strengthens the reception of da'wah messages through emotional closeness; (3) the constructivist approach allows audiences to actively construct the meaning of da'wah messages. Overall, this study reveals that integrating Islamic communication theory into UAS's da'wah results in communication that is not only informative but also transformative, inspiring behavioral change in religious practice. Abstract

Panji Gumilang, as a widely known and controversial da'wah figure, shows a unique rhetorical ability in conveying his religious messages. Ethos is built through the image of an intellectual cleric and leader of a modern Islamic boarding school. Pathos is manifested through a narrative of unity, national symbolism, and emotional language that arouses the audience. Meanwhile, logos is seen from the delivery of rational and contextual arguments related to Islamic issues, education, and nationality. Although his rhetorical strategy is effective in influencing listeners, he is not free from controversy because of his interpretation of religion that differs from the mainstream. This study shows that the success of rhetoric is greatly influenced by the speaker's ability to combine credibility, emotion, and logic in a balanced way. Abstract

Buya Syakur's preaching style and rhetoric are examples of effective religious communication in dealing with fanaticism, literalism, and extremism issues in contemporary society. As a moderate cleric, Buya Syakur is known to combine rationality, humor, and logical argumentation in his sermons, so that Islamic teachings are delivered contextually and easily understood by various groups. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis model to identify the application of ethos (credibility), pathos (emotion), and logos (logic) elements in Buya Syakur's rhetoric. The results of the analysis show that Buya Syakur's sermons are not only persuasive, but also a form of criticism of rigid and textual religiosity. Through humor, logic, and a contextual approach, he builds a moderate Islamic narrative that is relevant to the needs of modern society and effective in rejecting extremism and prioritizing tolerance, justice, and humanitarian values. Abstract

This study analyzes the digital da'wah rhetoric used by Ustadz Abu Bassam Oemar Mita through Aristotle's classical rhetoric theory approach, which consists of three main elements: ethos (credibility), pathos (emotion), and logos (logic). This study found that Ustadz Oemar Mita's ethos is built through a strong scientific background, consistency of preaching, and a simple lifestyle. The pathos aspect is evident in his ability to evoke the audience's emotions through a rhetorical language style, real-life examples, and expressive intonation. Meanwhile, his logos can be seen from the systematic use of arguments, contextual reasoning, and logical and easy-to understand arguments. Abstract

The rhetoric of da'wah is also the skill of conveying the teachings of Islam verbally to provide the right understanding to Muslims, so that they can easily accept the call of Islamic da'wah. Podcast is a technology used to distribute, receive, and listen to content on demand that can be produced by professionals and amateurs. The problem in this study is how the rhetoric of Habib Husein Ja'far Al Hadar's da'wah through podcasts. The purpose of this research is to find out how Habib Husein Ja'far Al Hadar's preaching rhetoric through podcasts. This study uses a qualitative method with a type of library research, which is descriptive in nature. Abstract

This article aims to explain the definition of rhetoric, trace its historical development from the classical to the modern era, and examine the relationship between rhetoric and communication in the context of da’wah. The research method used is qualitative libray reseacrh with a historical and content analysis approach. The main theoritical framework is based on Aristotle’s classical rhetoric, which includes ethos, pathos, and logos. The findigs indicate that classical rhetoric serves as a crucial foundation for developing effective communication strategies in modern Islamic preaching. In practice, rhetoric not only functions as a tool for delivering messages but also shapes audience perception and response. By mastering rhetorical principles, preachers can convey their messages more effectively and communicatively. The implications of this study highlight the improtance of rhetorical skills for da’wah practitioners so that their messages are not only understood but also emotionally resonate and raise awareness among audiences in a meaningful way. Abstract

This paper analyzes Zhafira Aqyla's rhetorical model of da'wah as a young educator who actively campaigns for Islamic values-based sexuality education through digital platforms. Zhafira integrates Aristotle's classical rhetorical approach of ethos, pathos, and logos in her communication strategy. Zhafira's rhetorical function is transformational, not only conveying messages, but encouraging social change. She is able to reduce public resistance to the issue of sex education, foster critical awareness in Muslim families, and form a new paradigm in da'wah that is educative, empathetic, and contextual. Thus, Zhafira Aqyla presents a progressive model of da'wah rhetoric that is relevant to the needs of the digital generation and today's socio-religious challenges.
