Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of Black Soldier Fly larvae substitution in the ration on duck performance. This study used a randomized block design with three treatments and six replications (P0: 0% BSF larvae, P1: 10% BSF larvae, and P2: 20% BSF larvae). The research parameters are body weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and final body weight. The results showed that the substitution treatment of BSF larvae in the ration had a significant effect (P<0.05) on body weight gain. Average body weight of ducks ranged from 176.13–195.80gr/head. The substitution treatment of BSF larvae had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the FCR of ducks. The average FCR of ducks ranges from 1.70 – 1.79g/head. The conclusion of the study was that substitution of 20% fresh BSF larvae in the ration (P2) gave the best results on duck performance.Keyword: Black Soldier Fly Larvae, Duck, Feed Substitution, Performance

Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the role of farmer diversity in production and economic aspects. The research method is descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling of 50 farmer respondents. The results showed the role of farmer groups in the production aspect, the highest was in the variable distribution of subsidized fertilizer assistance 90%, superior seeds 39%, while the variability of farmer group cultivation technology had no role. In the economic aspect, the highest role is in the variable source of information on commodity prices in the market by 84%. For marketing variables of agricultural products, farmer groups have not played a role, marketing of produce is carried out alone and controlled by middlemen. It can be concluded that the institutional role of farmers is still limited to the distribution of production input assistance from the government and as a source of price information. Keywords: Role, farmer institutions, production, economy

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect and obtain the best concentration of tofu waste liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) on the yield of petsay plants.  This research was conducted from April to June 2020 in Noelbaki Village. The design used was a randomized group design (RGD) with eight treatments namely without application of tofu waste LOF; concentration of tofu waste LOF: 10, 15, 20 25, 30, 35, and 40 ml/l. The parameters observed are crop length, crop diameter, crop fresh weight, and crop dry weight. The results of the study are the provision of tofu waste LOF has a significant effect on the crop length, crop diameter, crop fresh weight, and crop dry weight. Tofu waste LOF at a concentration of 35 ml/l has best concentration on crop length (26.50 cm), crop diameter (8.60 cm), crop fresh weight (572.60 g), and crop dry weight (52.60 g). Keywords: LOF, tofu waste, concentration, petsay, crop

Abstract

A study aimed at studying the nutrient consumption of Landrace cross pigs consuming fermented liquid feed made from tamarind seeds with different percentages was carried out in August 2022. The study used a randomized block design (RBD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications: R0 = fermented liquid feed (FLF) containing 0% tamarind seeds (TS), R10 = FLF 10% TS, R20 = FLF 20% TS, and R30 = FLF 30% TS. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan's further test. The research variable are the consumption of dry matter, crude fiber, and crude fat. The results showed that increasing the percentage of tamarind seeds had a significant effect (P<0.05) on dry matter, crude fiber, and crude fat consumption and caused increased dry matter and crude fiber, but decreased crude fat consumption of grower pigs. In conclusion, the percentage of using the best tamarind seeds is 30%.Key Words:  Rations, Bioconversion, Nutrients, An Aerobes, Swine, Anti-Nutrition

Abstract

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is one of the most economically important livestock viral diseases in the world. The disease is transmitted either directly or indirectly through contact with a contaminated environment. FMD is characterized by fever and vesicles in the mouth, nipples and feet of the animal. Some of the problems and challenges of FMD can include: economic losses, quarantine restrictions, an increase in the price of meat and other livestock products due to a decrease in supply, which can have an impact on inflation and people's purchasing power, transmission to other animals, decreased livestock production, disease control costs, such as vaccination costs and costs for treating infected animals. Prevention and eradication of FMD requires a comprehensive approach that includes strict adherence to biosecurity measures, vaccination, active surveillance, quarantine, control of animal movement, as well as education and awareness. Key Words: Epidemiology, Prevention and eradication of Food and Mouth Disease, District of Kupang.
