Abstract

The price of buffalo in Mamasa Regency is determined by several unique physical criteria compared to other livestock. Each criterion has a different value when compared to one another, this is very closely related to the socio-cultural system of the Mamasa people. This study aims to describe the perceptions of traders and farmers on several price criteria for buffalo in Mamasa Regency, specifically performance criteria, skin and buffalo horn in price setting. The benefit of knowing this is that there is a quantitative and rational basis in the process of buying and selling buffalo, so that all parties can understand and transparancy. This research approach was mostly carried out quantitatively descriptively by assessing pairwise comparisons through questionnaires. The data was collected in Mamasa District, Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi in June-July 2022. Based on the results of the data analysis, the highest criterion was buffalo performance, while the second and third respectively were buffalo skin and horn assessment. As for the comparison process, based on the criteria derived from the skin, the priority is skin color compared to hair swirls. Furthermore, the comparison of the horn derivative criteria that is more prioritized is the length of the horn compared to the type or shape of the horn.

Abstract

Agricultural development in Indonesia is very influential in increasing the selling value of production and business opportunities for farmers originating from several agricultural sub-sectors. One of them is the food crops and horticulture sub-sector. This condition motivates farmers to use land effectively in improving farming in a sustainable manner. The purpose of this research is to describe the motivation of watercress farmers in Popnam Village, TTU Regency. The data collection process uses a survey method of farmers first in order to find out the initial conditions. This study used a mix method approach, namely quantitative data were obtained using Likert scale measurements while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews to explore intrinsic and extrinsic motivation data on farmers. The results of the study explain that intrinsic factor is in the high category with a percentage of 84%. Efforts to meet food needs, build a decent place to live, support each other and work together are very important in the development of farming. The safety and appreciation factors that farmers have strengthens their inner motivation for sustainable farming development. Furthermore, the extrinsic factor is in the high category with a percentage value of 82%. This is seen from the price, market reach, and technology which has a high category. Even though government policies are less effective in terms of attention to farmers, the relationship between farmers is quite close as a family unit in building economic solidarity.

Abstract

The cultivation of typical non-irrigated rice fields in the North Central Timor Regency has not been able to provide satisfactory performance for non-irrigated rice field farmers. This research was conducted to examine the factors that influence business behavior and their impact on the performance of non-irrigated lowland rice farming in the North Central Timor District. This study uses 100 samples. Samples were selected randomly using a simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it shows that the characteristics of farmers do not affect entrepreneurial behavior. Characteristics of non-irrigated lowland rice farmers that do not affect entrepreneurial behavior are related to low farmer motivation. Many local farmers do business to continue the family business. Only a small portion of farmers aspire to entrepreneurship on this farm. On average, local farmers have high enough confidence in the success of their businesses. With a low level of motivation, and many farmers with a low level of education, all these factors do not affect entrepreneurial behavior. The business environment has a significant effect on entrepreneurial behavior. The coefficient of the business environment variable has a positive sign of 0.670 meaning that an increase in a more conducive business environment means that entrepreneurial behavior is increasing or good. The construct variable with the largest outer loading is the ease of obtaining production facilities. The average farmer's perception of the ease of production facilities is in the sufficient category. This means that not all farmers can access production inputs easily. For seeds, local farmers have been able to provide them independently.

Abstract

The occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has disrupted the people's economy, especially rice farmers. Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) certainly have an impact on people's lives, including farmers. This has caused several input prices and the selling price of agricultural products to be different from the situation before the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the food crops that has experienced price changes due to Covid-19 is rice. In addition to the price of agricultural inputs, food and non-food prices have also increased due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so that the costs incurred by farmers have also increased. Changes in price increases of basic needs and agricultural needs will of course also affect the level of welfare of rice farmers so it is necessary to conduct research on the welfare of rice farmers before and during the Covid-19 pandemic when viewed from the income and expenses of the rice farmer's house. The survey method is a research design in this study and the sample purchasing technique uses a purposive sampling technique, namely choosing respondents deliberately by considering many things and the number of respondents is 30 people. The respondents of this study were rice farmers in Jurangsapi Village, Tapen District, Bondowoso Regency. This study uses data analysis in the form of Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) analysis to determine the level of welfare of rice farmers before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research shows that when a pandemic occurred, the Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) produced was 118%, which meant that there was a surplus because the Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) was > 100, while during a pandemic the Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) produced fell to 94%, indicating that the welfare of farmers during the occurrence of Covid-19 decreased because the Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) was > 100.

Abstract

The problem of large marketing margins, share received by small farmers and high marketing costs as a manifestation of the market performance of local varieties of shallots which are assumed to be inefficient in Sumenep Regency needs to be studied and analyzed. This study aims to analyze the structure, behavior and market performance of the local variety of shallot Rubaru. The location of the research was conducted in the District of Rubaru with the consideration that the location is the producer of shallots with the largest variety in Sumenep Regency. The research was carried out in July-October 2022. The farmer sampling method used simple random sampling of 40 farmers and marketing agencies used the Snowball Sampling method. Sources of data in this study are primary data and secondary data. The analytical tools used are descriptive methods and analysis of structure, conduct, performance (SCP). The research data explains that the market structure of local variety shallots at the farmer level tends to form a monopolistic competition market while at the trader level an imperfect market is formed, namely oligopoly or oligopsony. Most of those who act as price makers are traders due to limited market information owned by local varieties of shallot farmers. Meanwhile, market behavior at the farmer level tends to act as a price taker even though they have made a bargaining process. The market performance of local varieties of shallots in Sumenep Regency can be concluded as efficient because the large share of farmers in the first and second channels has reached 40%. Meanwhile, based on MEI (Marketing Efficiency Index) the second channel is more efficient than the first channel because the second channel is the shortest channel, meaning that it does not involve many marketing agencies.

Abstract

Bananas are one of the leading commodities from fruit plants in Nunukan Regency, where banana production in 2021 will reach 75,443 quintals. Bananas produced by farmers sold to Malaysia, which is directly adjacent to Nunukan Regency. Although bananas are a superior commodity that is widely cultivated by local residents, the selling price of bananas in Nunukan Regency relatively low. Prices for bananas range from IDR 3,000 to IDR 4,000/Kg. The purpose of this study was to analyze the income earned by banana farmers in Sebatik Tengah District, Nunukan Regency. The data used is primary data obtained from 50 respondent farmers using the accidental sampling method. The data analysis method used is the analysis of farm income by first calculating fixed costs and variable costs. The results showed that the income received by farmers for each planting was IDR 4,051,320 with total production 1,274 kg of bananas. The total cost to be incurred by farmers is Rp. 3,415,873.50, so that the income for the total costs earned by banana farmers in Sebatik Tengah District, Nunukan Regency is Rp. 635,446.6 for each planting period. When compared with the total costs that must be incurred, the average income earned by farmers is still relatively small. For this reason, it is necessary to do research on the income analysis of banana production to find out whether or not this farming is feasible.

Abstract

In general, food security is the most important thing in a country, one of which is Indonesia. Indonesia itself has land or land that can be used to produce food including rice, corn, fruits and grains. Thus, enabling Indonesia to be immune to food availability. However, on the other hand, farmers who are the driving force in food production have a low level of welfare. There are several possibilities why the welfare of farmers is still low, the capital spent is greater than their income. For personal consumption, farmers decide not to sell some of their crops. so that the profit is not maximized. There are also farmers who experience crop failure due to pest attacks. Excessive use of seeds or fertilizers can affect crop yields. Thus, a performance management system is needed for rice farming to be able to control, monitor, and evaluate. This is intended so that farming becomes effective and efficient. This study aims to build a framework for the performance management of rice farming using a knowledge-based Performance management system approach. A qualitative approach was used in this study and data were collected from 50 journal articles taken at Google Scholar. The results of this study found 21 performance variables, namely 3 of them on the aspect of resource capability, 12 of them on the aspect of internal processes and 6 of them on aspects of organizational output and the framework of interrelationships between performance variables.
