Abstract

Every election always brings up new strategic ideas and media as used. Likewise in the 2024 Election, new media will emerge using the latest social media such as: Tik Tok, Instagram, and Twitter as a means of political communication. All presidential candidates pairs utilize social media and use new strategies in political campaigns to gain the most votes. The purpose of this study is to find out how Tik Tok becomes a new and effective politicalcommunication media in the process of conveying political messages. In addition, it is also to find out to what extent the influence of Tik Tok content on Generation Z and millennials can influence their political decisions in participating in the Election. This study uses a qualitative research method with a library study. The results of this study reveal that Tik Tok is the main target of political campaigns because almost all of the young generation who are the main voters in their elections use the application in their daily lives, thus giving rise to a strategy to attract the sympathy of the younger generation through interesting content that is uploaded. In addition, the younger generation is easily influenced by content that is packaged according to their movements and thought patterns so that it can influence their political decisions.

Abstract

Elections play a crucial role in democratic processes in Southeast Asia, serving as a platform for political participation and governance. Despite its significance, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis focusing on this region remains limited. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of Scopus indexed publications on"elections" in Southeast Asia from 2018 to 2024. A total of 100 articles from 68 sources with contributions from  248 authors were analyzed using Vosviewer and RStudio to identify prominent themes, collaborative networks, and emerging research trends. Indonesia emerged as the leading contributor, accounting for 98 publications, 68 citations, and10 collaborative works, followed by Malaysia and Singapore. Key themes included political media, electoral institutions, election violations, artificial intelligence, and gender politics. Notable emerging topics were the impact of social media on voter behavior, youth engagement, and electoral governance. The findings indicate that while Indonesia dominates electoral research in Southeast Asia, further studies could explore electoral reforms, digital political campaigns, and voter education. These insights provide valuable implications for policymakers in improving electoral governance. This bibliometric review provides a comprehensive overview of electoral studies in Southeast Asia, highlighting key research trends and identifying future research directions to strengthen democratic governance in the region.

Abstract

The digital transformation in government administration has driven the adoption of e-Government, including the iOS-based digital attendance system implemented by the North Bengkulu Regency Government under Regent Circular No: 800.1.9/0285/BKPSDM of 2024. This study analyses user experience with the iOS-based e-attendance application at the Arma Jaya Sub-District Office using a qualitative, exploratory approach through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving 18 employees, along with interviews with academics and policymakers. The analysis focuses on efficiency, satisfaction, error rates, and ease of learning. Findings indicate that the application improves attendance recording efficiency, saves time and operational costs, and facilitates employee discipline monitoring. However, network instability often results in recording errors, and some employees find the system lacks advanced features. While this implementation enhances government accountability, improvements in technology infrastructure and employee training are needed to maximize its benefits. In conclusion, although the iOS-based e-attendance system enhances transparency and efficiency, technical barriers highlight the necessity for system upgrades and better infrastructure support to ensure its long-term effectiveness

Abstract

This article explains the depictions of candidate figures in the 2024 presidential election. The aim of this study is to find out how to portray presidential candidates as victims who are persecuted by the cruelty of the authorities who side with the candidate team of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The important question raised in this research is why the scenario of becoming a victim needs to be carried out. The main reason is because the team of Anis Rasyid Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, as well as Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfudz MD did not receive support from President Jokowi. So, to get help from the voters, these two teams created a scenario of becoming victims, in order to get electoral support. In this research, we chose to use a qualitative method with a case study approach with the aim of being able to see and hear more closely the various election experiences in Indonesia, especially after the collapse of the New Order regime. The focus of the study is directed at constructing how to gain electoral support in the face of non-neutrality of government officials, politicization of social assistance, engineering of legal rules, and politicization in other forms which result in creating a backlash to gain sympathy from voters in the election. This article specifically discusses the dynamics of the 2024 presidential election in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research discusses the application of the principle of utilitarianism in the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) Program policy in Indonesia which aims to provide legal certainty and improve community welfare through land certification. Data shows that until 2021, there are 54 million parcels of land that have not been certified, which has the potential to cause agrarian conflicts and gaps in economic access. The utilitarianism approach is used to analyze the impact of the program on the benefits for the wider community. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach and uses secondary data from various official sources. The results show that PTSL has provided significant benefits, such as reduced land conflicts and improved economic access. On the other hand, there are still challenges in implementation, such as illegal levies and lack of transparency. Therefore, it is necessary to emphasize the importance of monitoring and improving the quality of program implementation to maximize benefits for the community.

Abstract

This study investigates the comparative dynamics of economic politics during the Roman-Persian period and the contemporary era through the lens of Islamic economic principles. It explores key dimensions such as resource management, wealth distribution, and the societal impact of policy, particularly in relation to social inequality, resource exploitation, and moral degradation. Employing a qualitative methodology based on an extensive literature review of secondary sources, this research reveals that while the Roman-Persian political economy succeeded in maintaining imperial stability, it also perpetuated significant social disparities through excessive taxation and territorial exploitation. In contrast, the modern economic paradigm, driven by technological innovation and global integration, remains susceptible to systemic crises and widening inequities. The findings suggest that core Islamic tenets—namely zakat, the prohibition of usury (riba), and equitable wealth distribution—offer a normative framework for constructing a more just and resilient economic order, both historically and in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

The 2024 Jakarta elections reflect the complexity of politics in Indonesia, where power is used strategically to maintain dominance. This paper aims to analyse the dynamics of power used by Ridwan Kamil, through the approach of Steven Lukes' (2005) three-dimensional view of power. Using a qualitative descriptive method based on literature study, this paper finds that although Ridwan Kamil utilizes the dimensions of Visible, Hidden and Invisible Power strategically; public resistance hinders the effectiveness of this strategy. This confirms that in an increasingly elitist political system, the 2024 Jakarta election still proves that as in democratic politics, power is not solely about elite dominance but also a matter of legitimacy and public acceptance that cannot be fully controlled by political actors. Although it cannot be denied that the power struggle between elites will always continue to occur.

Abstract

Abstract

The leadership of Indonesian Muslim women experienced a development, marked by the ever extensive political roles. Some previous researches state that the factor of familial closeness (political dynasty), gender, collusion, sexiness and piety marketing stimulate women’s election in political contestations. But these reasons are not enough to explain the reason for women’s roles in the public, especially women of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). We suggest that women’s courage in the struggle for the political position is due to their desires to strive for women's rights that are ignored and not comprehensively understood by male leaders. The existence of the thought that women can (only) ‘understand women’ becomes the reason why regional leaderships are also seized by women. The article also shows the ability to integrate spirituality towards public roles by utilizing their social capitals. This paper also counters some arguments that women always lose in public sectors in political sector fights as they are under the shadow of their husbands or men.
