Abstract

Innovative and fun learning can be realized through various ways, one of which is by using relevant and interesting media. This study aims to produce a student learning worksheet based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on the ecosystem material for class VII, and to determine the effectiveness of the use of the student worksheet. This is a research and development research using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The development process data was collected using a validation questionnaire of design experts, material experts, teacher and student questionnaires and student learning outcomes data after using the worksheet. The results of the assessment by material experts obtained average value 3.11 (good category) while the assessment by media experts obtained average value 3.30 (very good category). Assessment by students gets average value 90.33 (very well category), the assessment by teacher gets average value 10.82 (very good categories). The use of the developed student worksheet in the learning process shows a significant increase in the average learning outcomes from 52.31 to 72.69 (increase 20.38). The produced student learning worksheet is declared appropriate for use in learning.

Abstract

Traditional knowledge held by society contains character values ​​and scientific concepts, but such knowledge is frequently ignored. This study aims to develop Student Activity Sheets on plant taxonomy based on ethnoscience for high school, and analyze the response of teachers and students to the products developed. The model used in this study follows the ADDIE stages. The instrument used is a response questionnaire given to teachers and students. Product feasibility was analyzed through the results of material expert validation and design experts. The result of the study is in the form of student worksheet based on ethnoscience and character values ​​for plant taxonomy material. The results of product validation obtained a score of 74 ("very valid") for the material aspects while the design validation obtained a score of 46 ("valid"). The results of the small group and large group trials obtained percentages of 87,0% and 89,0% respectively; both were in the excellent category. The teacher's response obtained an average score of 44 which was also in the excellent category. Overall student worksheets based on ethnics and character values ​​in material plant taxonomy for high school students is feasible to be used in plant taxonomy learning in schools.

Abstract

The lack of Biology teaching materials in senior high school in the Kerinci District has promoted this research. The purpose of this development research is to produce e-modules as teaching materials used by students in Biology subjects. The model used in developing this e-module is the 4-D model, which consists of 4 stages, namely defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. Biology e-modules on plantae and animalia material based on the potential of the Kerinci region were validated by media and material experts. The results of the media expert validation obtained the final percentage of 90% (very valid category) and the material expert validation obtained a percentage of 75% (valid category). From the results of the field test, the teacher responded that the e-modules produced were suitable for use in biology class X high school learning with a percentage of 92.5% (very good category). Furthermore, e-module trials on students obtained responses that the products produced were also proper to be used in biology learning in class X of senior high school. The small group test obtained a score of 85% (excellent category) and the large group test obtained score 78.3% (good category). The use of the developed e-modules in learning resulted in a score of 76.3% (successful category).

Abstract

Integrating local wisdom with the concept of biodiversity is a learning innovation that can build cultural character for students to conserve the surrounding environment, including in maintaining cultural and social values. This study aims to develop local wisdom-based learning tools on biodiversity material. This research and the development employed the model used is a 4-D model, which consists of define, design, development and disseminate. Learning tools that are developed based on local wisdom can increase students’ interest in the science learning process. The response of the Koto Rendah Private Islamic High School biology teachers to the lesson plans is in the "Good" category. The developed students’ worksheet also obtained the similar response which is in the "Good" category. The results of small group trials obtained an average score of 31.67 with a percentage of 79.17% (good category). The large group trial results obtained an average score of 31.45 with a percentage of 78.63% (good category). The developed local wisdom-based learning instrument can be categorized as good to be used in learning in the Koto Rendah Private Islamic High School.

Abstract

Students’ cognitive engagement in teaching and learning process is an important factor for successful learning. Improvement of students’cognitive engagement was investigated through a teaching and learning process using POE (predict-observe-explain) approach and self-developed interactive media. The objective of this study is to improve students’ cognitive engagement in teaching and learning process at junior high school. The development of interactive multimedia uses Animate CC and Four D and its validation were explained. The self-developed interactive multimedia was used with POE approachin teaching and learning process at junior high school. This three steps predict-observe-explain approach is used and students higher order thinking and total participants showing higher order thinking characteritics were analysed. It was found that the self-developed interactive multimedia isto contribute to the students’ active cognitive engagement.

Abstract

Most of the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 3 Jambi City find difficulties in understanding the concepts of Coordination Systems in Biology subject. This study aims to create a learning tools in the form of students’ worksheets based on problem-based learning-flipped classroom. This study employs ADDIE Model. Validations were undertaken by learning design, material, and product design experts. Where as, best practice validation was done by a Biology teacher teaching in SMAN 3 Jambi City. Research subject was students of SMAN 3 consisting of 3 students for individual trial and 9 students for small group trial. Data from validation results were described qualitatively. The design stage produces a worksheet prototype based on problem-based learning-flipped classroom. The development stage produces a new version of student worksheet that has been positively responded by the research participants. In implementation stage, the worksheet has been considered very good by students. In evaluation stage, the study has produced a sudent worksheet that accommodates students needs to improve their ability in transforming knowledge. Based all stages of the ADDIE, it can be concluded that the produced student worksheet is interesting, easy to use and easy to understand. It helps students to learn coordination systems more effectively. The created student worksheet can be further developped into an e-student worksheet.

Abstract

A person's character influences his habits. This can be seen from the habits of the people in the Griya Aur Duri Indah Housing in the City of Jambi in handling household waste; some people do not know how to handle household waste properly. This development research aims to produce products in the form of character-based household waste management comics for the community in the Griya Aur Duri Indah Housing in Jambi City, and to asses its feasibility and community responses to the comics produced. The development employs the Borg and Gall development model. This development research resulted in a product in the form of a character-based household waste management comic for the community at the Griya Aur Duri Indah Housing in Jambi City. Media validator considers the product in the valid category, whereas material validator considered the product as very valid. The results of trials in small groups and large group trials obtained values ​​with very good categories. Based on the results it can be concluded that the character-based household waste management comics for the community in the Griya Aur Duri Indah Housing in Jambi City can foster good community character related to waste management and can be implemented to the community.

Abstract

Mathematics learning cannot be separated from the abstract nature of mathematics and the characteristics of the students. Therefore, it is required a teaching strategy that is aligned with student learning styles in order to facilitate achieving maximum learning out comes. This study aims to find out: (1) differences in students’ learning out comes between those were taught with problem-based learning strategies (PBL) and expository learning strategies, (2) differences in students’ mathematics learning outcomes between those who have visual learning styles and kinesthetic learning styles, (3) the interaction between learning strategies and learning styles on mathematics learning outcomes. The results showed that PBL strategy provides higher learning outcomes than expository strategies, kinesthetic learning style provides higher mathematics learning outcomes than visual learning styles, and there is an interaction between learning strategies and learning styles on mathematics learning out comes.

Abstract

Education is now entering an era that encourages the use of technology to support the learning process. One such technology is the 3D Pageflip media which combines interactive simulations with text, images, videos and animations. This study aims is to develop the product of 3D Pageflip based e-module about classification of living things, as well as to determine student’s perceptions of the e-modules. This development research uses the ADDIE’s model. The e-module of 3D Pageflip are validated by media expert and content expert. The results of the validation of material experts obtained a score about 87% which was categorized as "very valid", while media validation obtained the score about 80% in the "valid" category. The results of small group and large group trials obtained the scores 84% and 85% respectively, both were in the category of "very good". Furthermore, for the response of teachers are obtained the score about 88% with very good category. Overall the 3D Pageflip-based e-module is appropriate to be used as one of the learning materials on the classification of living things.

Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills can be formed through guidance in the learning process. For this reason, teachers should be aware of the development of their students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to develop a valid, effective and practical evaluation instrument on work and energy subject. The research used a 4-D model which includes the stages of defining, designing, developing and defining. The results are in the form of an essay test instrument with a subject validation value of 42 (very good/valid) and design validation obtained a value of 57 (very good/valid). Limited trials achieved a score of 54 (very practical). Field trials on 29 students recorded 15 students in the category of having good and very good critical thinking skills and 14 students having less critical thinking skills. The trial results show an increase in students' critical thinking skills using guided discovery learning models. The resulted evaluation instrument is categorized as valid, effective, and practical to be used to measure students' critical thinking skills.
