Abstract

This study examined semantic structure of emotion terms in Indonesia. 45 kind of emotion terms as measured by adjective 10 paires in semantic differential. All emotion term is choosed based on familiarity derived from Indonesian Dictionary. We hypothesized that semantic stucture of emotion terms can be reduced into three dimensions, consistent with semantic differential scale factor by Osgood (evaluation, potency, activity). Based on 115 participant, our findings indicate that structure of emotion terms load in two dimensions by multidimensional analysis (evaluation, activity). For two dimensions loading, multidimen‐sional stress value can be reduced in 0,38. Lower stress value indicate that two dimensions loading for semantic structure of emotion word more appropriate than three dimension. Mapping of a series of emotion terms from a proximities matrix (similarities or dissimilarities) based on semantic structure produced nine cluster of emotion terms in Indonesia.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop a scale of happiness based on indigenous psychology approach and identify it’s psychometric properties. The research was divided into three step of scenario: 1. happiness construct exploration based on indigenous psychology approach; 2. Develop the construct into a scale of happiness (Likert model); and 3. Identify it’s psychometric properties (reliability and validity). The psychometric properties analyses consist of internal consistency reliability (alpha‐Cronbach) and construct validity (convergent‐discriminant). Multitrait‐multimethod matrix was used on the analysis in order to identify the convergent‐discriminant validity (including three comparative scales: Self‐Esteem Scale Rosenberg, Self‐Esteem Inventory Coopersmith, and PGC Morale Scale). The exploration result shows a unique indicators of happiness in the East native culture (N=604). The psychometric properties analysis show the alpha reliability α=0.895 and the validity was psychometrically accepted (N=111). The conclusion of this study: happiness is a unique construct that consist of strong contextual aspects and the measurement of a native happiness should used a scale of happiness that based on indigenous psychology approach. Further result will be discussed.

Abstract

This research aims to examine post‐purchase dissonance from the intention of being an innovator, ability as an opinion leader and level of creativity, which were used as indicators by consumers in purchasing some electronic products. In this research the data were collected by using three scales and one assessment tool. They are: Postpurchase Dissonance Scale, Intention as an Innovator Scale, Ability as an Opinion Leader Scale and Figural Creativity Test (Subtest no. 3: Circle). Respondents in this research were those who purchased electronic products with these following conditions: (1). Purchase made no later than one month after the research was conducted; (2). Experienced dissonance after buying the product (with N sample = 120). Data collected in this research were examined by using multiple regression analysis. Based on major hypothesis, it can be concluded that the intention as an innovator, ability as an opinion leader and level of creativity can be used as indicators to predict the arousal of post‐purchase dissonance (where F count = 4.800; p=0.003; R=0.110 & adjusted R square = 0.087). Minor hypothesis also shows that the intention as an innovator can be an indicator to predict the arousal of post‐purchase dissonance (r= ‐0.227; p<0.05). Contrary to that, the other 2 indicators show different result. The ability as an opinion leader has r score = ‐0.228, p>0.05, whereas the level of creativity has r score = ‐0.072; p>0.05.

Abstract

This research attempted to observe team learning from the level of team diversity and team efficacy of work teams. This research used an individual level of analysis rather than the group level. The team members measured the level of team diversity, team efficacy and team learning of the teams through three scales, namely team learning scale, team diversity scale, and team efficacy scale. Respondents in this research were the active team members in a company, PT. Alkindo Mitraraya. The total of the respondents were 70. Collected data were examined by using multiple regression analysis. Based on the hypothesis, it can be concluded that the team diversity and team efficacy can be used as indicators to predict the arousal of team learning level in teams (fcount = 5.924; p=0.004 or p < 0.05) and the value of adjusted r square = 0.125. Moreover, the result demonstrated that team diversity made a significant contribution to team learning level (r = 0.105; p < 0.05) while on the other hand, team efficacy did not affect team learning significantly. The equation of the regression line for team learning on team diversity and team efficacy was team learning = 30.362 + (0.377 team diversity) + (0.187 team efficacy). Suggested areas for future research were to confirm this research model using the team level analysis, to thoroughly determine the type of teams and to do research in the self‐managed team‐based organizations.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between parental social support and self direction in learning on highschool students. The population of this research was the students of SMA Negeri 1 Medan, and a sample of 195 students was recruited from the 10 th grade, the 11 th grade, and the 12 th grade. The researcher used a set of two Likert scales, including Self Directed Learning Scale, which was designed according to the components of self direction in learning by Candy (1991), and Parental Social Support Scale, which was designed based on the dimensions of social support by Sarafino (2002). The Parental Social Support Scale consists of 50 items, and the reliability of the scale is r=0.960. The Self Directed Learning Scale consists of 50 items, and the reliability of the scale is r=0.940. To analyze the result, the researcher used Pearson Product Moment Coefficient Correlation. Outcome of data analysis shows there is significant correlation between parental social support and self direction in learning. The results showed a positive correlation between parental social support and self direction in learning on highschool students (r = 0.477; ρ <0,05). It indicated that the higher the parental social support, the higher the self direction in learning and conversely the lower the social support of parents the lower the self direction in learning.

Abstract

Many research in knowledge sharing has focused their attention on the roles of information and technology factor. Recently, there is a consideration that human factors such as social interaction, trust and leadership play keyrole in knowledge sharing behavior. This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting employeesʹ knowledge sharing within an organization by combining transformational leadership and trust as predictor of knowledge sharing behavior. This research used survey method, and take 99 employees of PT. Bina Karya Jakarta as sample. The instruments to get data was questionnaire of Likert’s Scale, that consisted of leadership scale, organizational trust scale, managerial trust, co‐worker trust scale and knowledge sharing scale. The research found that transformational leadership, organizational trust, management trust and co‐worker trust together have significant effect on knowledge sharing behavior with r=0,264. The regression coefficient also shows there is only the co‐worker trust that have the most significant effect on knowledge sharing behavior. These findings need to be discussed for further research especially to gain understanding about the role transformational leadership and trust on knowledge sharing that vary, depends on the situation and condition.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Invetory Spirituality Orientation have been made by Elkins et al. (1988). Development of measuring instruments is done with the content validity and construct validity. Content validity test was done by assessing some experts, while construct validity is proved by: (a) evidence of homogeneity, (2) evidence of differences in scores on the two different groups, and (3) factor analysis. Content validity test was conducted by asking five experts of psychology and spirituality to provide a valuation of 90 aitem made with a 5‐point Likert scale (score 1‐5). Test results show the validity of the contents of 90 aitem, 66 aitem valid (the average value of each valid aitem: 4 and up). Tests carried out by the evidence of construct validity of the homogeneity of the internal consistency reliability Cronbach alpha. Cronbach alpha reliability test results show the reliability coefficient of 0.915. Reliability correlation coefficient shows a good homogeneity. Evidence of differences in scores on the two different groups obtained by differentiating groups of subjects who are assumed to have a high spirituality with group of subjects who are assumed to have a common spirituality. Analysis techniques that are used to test differences between groups using the Mann‐Withney. The results show a significant difference between group 1 with group 2 (Mann‐Withney value U = 273.5, Z = ‐3.160, p = 0.002 <0.01). Exploratory factor analysis was done by factor analysis. The number of subjects used for factor analysis of 413 college students of both Muslim men and women. The analysis produced six factors of spirituality, namely: (1) sanctity of life, (2) altruism, (3) idealism, (4) the purpose and meaning in life, (5) transcendent / beliefs, and (6) an awareness of the suffering of the sanctity of life.

Abstract

This study was a metaanalysis of the relationship between epistemological belief and approach learning. The quantitative review involved 52 studies from 11 articles that contained a combined sample of approximately 26818. This analysis extends previous works by directly correcting both sampling and measurements errors. The results provided support that one’s epistemological belief has a correlation with one’s learning approach. Thus epistemological beliefs serve as predictors learning approach
