Abstract

BFM is a pharmaceutical company that produces bulk Tetanus Toxoid (TT). Bulk TT demand will continue to increase until 2025, while the current utilization rate has reached 97% of its design capacity. Bulk TT's current production capacity is insufficient, while the building area cannot be enlarged. This research was conducted to improve non-necessary value added by identifying and reducing waste to run well even though the production capacity is limited. Mix descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods are applied in this research. Production simulation is undertaken to reduce waste through the Gemba Kaizen approach and Kanban, while production capacity simulation is carried out using Dynamic Systems. The results of the simulations are described in the Balanced Scorecard. The research revealed there are 148 wastes consisting of 4 causes of waste in the high priority category, 20 medium priority and 124 low priority. The simulation generates a significant decrease value of the waste priority number (WPN) from 347.3 to 47.2. There was also an increase in the overall value stream. Value-added ratio (VAR) increased 12.57%, production lead time reduced 21.01%, and total cycle time decreased 11.65%. These findings indicated that the improvement was effective in eliminating waste. From the overall improvement, there was an increase in productivity of 25.0%.

Abstract

According to the concept of supply chain management, one of the possible solutions for mutual survival in a turbulent world market is chain cooperation among the producer, his suppliers, and customers. The problem of supplier selection and determination of material quantities supplied is one of the most important activities in the supply chain. The purpose of this research is to propose a model for supplier selection for Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) supply by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), based on decision-making criteria validated by experts in the galvanizing industry. This study found that for galvanizing industry the weight of importance of Cost, Quality, Product, Service, and Delivery criteria is 0.47, 0.19, 0.19, 0.07, and 0.07, respectively. Supplier ranking based on their importance to the industry’s purpose has also been found, which would assist the decision-making process in determining CRC suppliers.

Abstract

The role of the aircraft maintenance industry as an aircraft maintenance service which is expected to be able to maintain the survival of the aircraft itself. For example, PT GMF Aero Asia is one of the Strategic Business Units (SBU) owned by PT Garuda Indonesia which is specialized in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services which include aircraft frames, engines, components and their support. In this study, a quantitative assessment of the availability and capability of maintenance facilities was carried out using a preventive maintenance method with a dynamic system model approach that describes the level of availability and maintenance capability of aircraft batteries. Calculations have been made with a computer program, POWERSIM, in actual conditions that in December 2020 the total number of batteries in maintenance was 102 batteries for Airbus types and 80 batteries for Airbus types. With the assumption that starting in 2021 there will be an increase in the number of aircraft by 1 (one) unit per month, then at the end of the study period until July 2021 the calculation of the utility factor will be as follows, the total utility factor for Boeing is still below 1, while for Airbus starting April 2021 the utility factor is above 1. So that the operator's ability to handle Airbus type battery maintenance is not sufficient. For this purpose, an alternative scenario needs to be created, namely scenario 1 by adding one operator per shift and scenario 2 by increasing the operator's workload in handling the number of batteries handled to as many as 6 battery units. The results of the calculation of the utility factor show that in both conditions the scenario gives a value below 1. The best choice in terms of simplicity in handling the number of operators, then the choice of condition scenario 2 is the best choice.

Abstract

ISO 21001:2018 is an international standard for the management system of educational organizations that formal education organizations can apply to achieve their goals and functions to provide quality educational services. Currently, there are study programs with C accreditation and 2 study programs accredited B at Faculty of X under The University of Y. Hence, quality assurance at Faculty X still needs to be improved to achieve the highest accreditation. It is hoped that an education management system that refers to the ISO 21001:2018 standard can assist organizations in meeting these goals and targets. Faculty X has not implemented the ISO 21001:2018 quality assurance system but has implemented a quality assurance system through an internal academic quality audit process known as AIMA. This study aims to determine the GAP between the current higher education quality assurance system and the educational organization management system ISO 21001:2018 and determine the level of readiness obtained by Faculty X to meet the requirements of ISO 21001:2018. The results show that 59% of the ISO 21001:2018 clauses have been completed in the higher education quality assurance standard based on AIMA (Academic Quality Internal Audit Instrument), and 41% of the requirements still do not meet the AIMA standard. The percentage of readiness obtained by Faculty X in implementing the management system of educational organizations ISO 21001:2018 is 73%, which means that Faculty X still has to improve the quality system in preparation for ISO 2100:2018 quality assurance. Improvements in meeting the ISO 21001:2018 educational organization management system are plans for consistent improvement, monitoring, and evaluation.

Abstract

This paper discusses the application of lean methods in warehouse operations in the manufacturing industry. To meet customer demand, product storage and product delivery activities are the main things to support customer satisfaction. This paper highlights efforts to improve warehouse operations by eliminating waste using value flow mapping (VSM). This study aims to improve all warehouse operations by analyzing and minimizing waste. The current state of VSM represents a waste of the existing system. The proposed improvement to minimize warehouse operational time is by using the lean concept. The observations through current state value stream mapping obtained a total lead time of 550 minutes. After analyzing the waste and planning improvements, it is expected to reduce the lead time to 525 minutes or 4.5%. The value-added time is reduced from 120 minutes to 90 minutes or 25% through mapping the future value flow of warehouse operations.

Abstract

Manufacturing activities such as trailer products potentially generate various risks. This research aims to analyze risk management in the supply chain of trailer production using the House of Risk (HOR) model. The business activities mapping is using the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) method which consists of 6 parts of the management process, plan, source, make, deliver return and enable. Research is conducted through two phases of HOR. The HOR 1 activities are the identification of risk events and risk agents based on SCOR mapping, measurement of severity, and occurrence levels to produce an Aggregate Risk Priority (ARP), then determine a priority risk agent in the mitigation process. The HOR 2 is used to determine which actions are to be done first, considering their differing effectiveness as well as resources involved and the degree of difficulties in performing. The company should ideally select a set of actions that are not so difficult to perform but could effectively reduce the probability of risk agents occurring. 7 experience respondents were involved in the study consisting of engineering, procurement, production, warehouse, production planning, after-sales dan quality control. The results of the analysis successfully identified 46 risk events and 41 risk agents in the manufacturing of mining trailers. FGD and Pareto analysis used in the study produced 16 recommendations for mitigation actions that are expected to be able to mitigate risk.

Abstract

To maintain customer loyalty, punctual delivery is needed. In Indonesia, the government has regulated industrial regulations, especially manufacturing with imported raw materials through the provision of special facilities. One of these facilities is a bonded zone facility. In the application to the procurement process, several special rules extend the flow of the goods procurement process which is feared to have an impact on delivery delays and large inventory levels. In terms of price term performance, the TOPSIS method is used, and the data is taken from questionnaires the Korea CKD Import Planner, China CKD Import Planner, Chemical Import Planner, and Steel Sheet Import Planner, with criteria for late delivery of goods, incomplete document completeness, length of COO processing. Certificate of Origin), duration of export-import licensing, risk in shipping, selection of forwarder (3PL), selection of vessel schedule, and costs. From the results of the questionnaire, a normalized matrix was made. From this matrix, the distance between positive and negative solutions is sought so that the preference value of each alternative is obtained, and the price term CIP (Cost & Insurance Paid) is obtained as the price term with the closest relative closeness with a value of 0.5042.
