Abstract

An optimization procedure with constraints of time and cost was applied to the postal delivery service in Indonesia involving third parties of transportation modes by using Triple Algorithm and Minimum Cost Network Flow Problem methods. Althought it is nevertheless the initial stage, the optimization has showed its capability to satisfy the delivery time standard and to reduce the transportation cost simultaneously. The procedure has given a large impact on the cost effectiveness of 46,8% in this study by optimizing the choices of the transportation routes and the third parties involved. Invention of the consignment flow route and the modes selection will be useful for the network design, the third parties selection, and delivery monitoring and tracking, particularly by integrating it to the Geographical Information System. This information is especially suitable for a multifaceted archipelago and wide-area country such as Indonesia. Keywords: Postal delivery network, transportation cost, delivery time, transportation modes, optimization

Abstract

Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are often faced with a number of problems that are very influential on their growth and can reduce their competitiveness, where one of them is the increase in Basic Electricity Tariff. The increase in Basic Electricity Tariff will occur every three months and the average annual increase is 15%, which will result a direct impact on surging production costs. The increase in Basic Electricity Tariff will result in declining growth of MSMEs, making it difficult to compete because MSMEs have to make adjustments to prices and ultimately result in weakening purchasing power. The Sensitivity Analysis of Basic Electricity Tariff increase on the sustainability of MSME businesses aims to (1) Know the structure of production costs in relation to electricity usage and (2) Create a sensitivity model for TDL increase on the sustainability of MSME businesses using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). This research is analytical descriptive and useful as an effort to focus on actions in anticipating the sensitive increase in Basic Electricity Tariff on the sustainability of MSME businesses. These actions include reducing the ratio of electricity costs to production costs and increasing capital to increase business turnover. This research is focused on MSMEs which are very sensitive to the increase in the Basic Electricity Tariff.

Abstract

BFM is a pharmaceutical company that produces bulk Tetanus Toxoid (TT). Bulk TT demand will continue to increase until 2025, while the current utilization rate has reached 97% of its design capacity. Bulk TT's current production capacity is insufficient, while the building area cannot be enlarged. This research was conducted to improve non-necessary value added by identifying and reducing waste to run well even though the production capacity is limited. Mix descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods are applied in this research. Production simulation is undertaken to reduce waste through the Gemba Kaizen approach and Kanban, while production capacity simulation is carried out using Dynamic Systems. The results of the simulations are described in the Balanced Scorecard. The research revealed there are 148 wastes consisting of 4 causes of waste in the high priority category, 20 medium priority and 124 low priority. The simulation generates a significant decrease value of the waste priority number (WPN) from 347.3 to 47.2. There was also an increase in the overall value stream. Value-added ratio (VAR) increased 12.57%, production lead time reduced 21.01%, and total cycle time decreased 11.65%. These findings indicated that the improvement was effective in eliminating waste. From the overall improvement, there was an increase in productivity of 25.0%.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and reduce waste in the passenger flow process at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport departure terminal, so that passenger service remains good even with limited terminal capacity. This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The method stages are the observation of the departure passenger flow process mapped through current state Value Stream Mapping (VSM), distribution of questionnaires to obtain critical waste with Borda analysis, and fishbone diagrams to find out the rooting causes of critical waste, the proposing process improvements, and the future state of VSM, The results showed that critical waste in the flow of departure passengers is 22.11%, which includes passenger activities waiting for the Security Check Point 1 and Point 2 queue. Furthermore, based on the current state of VSM, the lead time for departure passengers is 33 minutes 47 seconds and VAR is 20.22%. While form the future state of VSM, the lead time is 28 minutes 22 seconds with a VAR of 20.36%, resulting in time efficiency of 5 minutes 24 seconds.
