Abstract

Pregnancy is a unique period for a woman’s life, which there is physical and physiological changesincluding the oral cavity [1], [2].The main salivary changes in pregnancy are salivarate change, composition, pH, and hormone levels[3]. During pregnancy, pH of saliva and gingival fluidbecome more acidic [4]. Increased acid production inthe oral cavity when accompanied by a lackawareness of pregnant women in maintaining thecleanliness of the oral cavity will expedite theemergence of caries. Based on data of RiskesdasMinistry of Health in 2013, the prevalence of cariesin Indonesia was 53.2%, therefore the maintenanceof the teeth of pregnant women should be takeninto account and improved [5].Caries etiologies are multi factorial. They are hosts, saliva, microorganisms and time [6]. Based on thebackground above, author wanted to know dentalcaries in pregnant women who visit Posyandu ofseveral public health centers in Jember.

Flavonoid compounds have animportant role in the prevention of diabetes and itscomplications (Jack, 2012). Previous research showedthat bark of plants soursop has a most excellent efficacycompared with the roots and leaves of the Annonamuricata L in lowering blood glucose levels in male ratsinduced streptozozin (Rahmawati, 2014).This study aimed to examine the effect ofethanolic extract of Annona muricata L. seeds powder ondecreasing blood glucose level in wistar strain male ratwith glucose loading.

Abstract

Proteins are macronutrient, plays important roles inhuman health. It is essential to life because it is avital par of the nucleus and protoplasm of every cell. The outer layers of skin, the hair, and the nailsconsist of almost entirely of an insoluble proteincalled keratin. The most active and abundant tissuesof the body – the muscles and glandular organs- arehigh in protein content. Lean muscles, heart, andliver contain 17-21 percent protein. Connectivetissues consists mainly of protein. Blood carries theimportant iron-containing protein hemoglobin in redblood cells. Therefore, the 50 gram dailyrequirement is a must to be fulfilled.Protein are larger and more complex moleculesthan those of either fats or carbohydrate. The largemolecules of protein made up of great number ofamino acids. The number of difference amino acidsin the molecules of certain protein varies from 8 to18 according to the size and complexity of themolecules of different protein. The number andcomposition of essential amino acids of proteindetermine utility of the protein for human health.Human obtain proteins from animal and plant foodsources. Nuts food group is plant origin of foodprotein since it contain high protein, range from 17-30 percent. Koro kratok (Phaseolus lunatus L. Sweet)and kacang tunggak ( Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp)(Kasno and Achmad, 1988) are kinds of nut thathave high protein content. However, its highamount of protein does not explain utilizing of thenut protein for human health. Intake of 50 gramprotein does not explain the quality of protein. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the quality nutprotein.

Abstract

In Indonesia, family planning program was succes .The successful achievement of ContraceptivePrevalence Rate (CPR) numbers can reduce theTotal Fertility Rate (TFR) of Indonesia. In 1971Indonesia TFR estimate of 5.6 (PSKK, 2004) andthen decreased to 2.4 (in 2002 ) , fell further to 2.3(in 2007) (Hull & Hartanto , 2009) . Unfortunately ,the percentage of the unmet need for familyplanning (unmet needs KB ) in Indonesia is still high. Based on data from Indonesian Demographic andHealth Survey (IDHS) unmet need for familyplanning Indonesia reached 13% ( 1991 ) , 11 % (1994 ) , 9.2 % ( 1997 ) and 8.6 % ( 2002 ) (PSKK,2004) . In 2007 unmet need for family planning by9.1 % ( BPS & Macro International , 2007), is stillfar from the target of Rencana PembangunanJangka Menengah Nasional ( RPJMN ) 2004-2009 ,which limits the number unmet need for familyplanning in Indonesia is not more than 6 % (President RI 2006 ) .Unmet need for family planning has a direct impacton a country's TFR . If unmet need family planningcan be eliminated , there will be a sharp decline inbirth rate, along only consider contraception factoralone ( Mueller & Germain , 2007). Based onRPJMN 2004-2009, target of TFR Indonesia expectsno more than 2.2 ( Presiden RI , 2006) . Therefore ,the handling of unmet need for family planning arestrong reasons for the planning andimplementation of effective family planningprogram ( Bongaarts & Bruce , 1995; Sedgh et al. ,2007) .Ashford (2003) describes when in the developingworld, more than 100 million women, or 17% of allwomen married status unmet need for familyplanning. Because of the magnitude of unmet needfamily planning, so it is important to handlingunmet need for family planning immediately.Unmet need for family planning caused unexectedpregnancy (unintended pregnancy) (Haub &Herstad, 2002), which can lead to unsafe abortions(unsafe abortion) (Bizuneh et al., 2008). Unsafeabortion is responsible for 11% of maternal deathsin Indonesia and the world average of 13%(Wilopo, 2009). Seeing the magnitude of theunmet need for family planning, it is necessary toresearch related to the incidence of unmet needfor family planning on eligible couples in Indonesia.
