Abstract

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (CPOD) is a chronic lung disease identified which can be identified by the occurrence of a progressive nonreversible or reversible air detention in respiratory. One of the causes of CPOD is smoke. According to a report in Rumah Sakit Paru-paru Respira Yogyakarta, CPOD is the most visited disease in this hospital among other lung diseases. This disease results in inability of doing any activity and affects the level of fitness. Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of adding pursed lips breathing exercise on a static cycle with moderate intensity toward the fitness enhancement of COPD patients. Method: This research was done using the quasi experimental and administered with pre and posttest for two groups. The researcher involved six respondents who were COPD inpatients and outpatients. The respondents were divided into two different groups which consist of three patients for each group with different treatments. The first group was given moderate intensity static cycle treatment three times a week in three weeks treatment. The second group was given additional pursed lips breathing exercise four times a day consecutively in four days on moderate intensity static cycle. The measurement of the fitness level was done with six-minute walking and put into the VO2 Max formulation. Then the research result was analyzed by using paired sample T-test and Wilcoxon. Result: Hence, the research results in the first hypothesis tested with paired sample T-test was p=0.160 (p>0.05) meaning that there were no effect of moderate intensity static cycle toward the fitness enhancement among the COPD patients. In the second group tested with Wilcoxon, it was found that p=0.109 (p>0.05). This implies that there was no effect of adding pursed lips breathing exercise on moderate intensity static cycle toward the fitness enhancement among the COPD patients. Conclusion: In conclusion, the effect of adding pursed lips breathing exercise on moderate intensity static cycle toward the fitness enhancement among COPD patients is absent. Suggestion: The researcher suggests to future researcher to add the number of respondents, the duration of the research and to equalize the COPD grade.

Abstract

The swimmer in Indonesia is still very difficult to compete with world athletes who constantly surge achievement. One reason is the lack of understanding of proper recovery methods or effective in supporting achievement that is slow swimming active recovery method. This study aims to prove the differences of effectiveness of slow frontcrawl swimming recovery with a slow breaststroke swimming recovery to accelerate pulse rate recovery of male Bayusuta swimmer group in Denpasar. Experimental research was done with the method of randomized pre and post test control group design, conducted on February 2014. Samples were selected by simple random sampling . The two intervention groups with each group of 17 samples that randomized selected. The first group was given intervention as slow frontcrawl swimming and the second groups given intervention as slow breaststroke swimming after maximal exercise 50 meter sprint swimming . Pulse rate recovery was measured using Brouha method that is  pulse rate in the first minute until the fifth minute. Statistical analysis with the Wilcoxon test showed a decrease in pulse rate in both groups from the first minute until the fifth minute showed a significant decrease (p < 0,05). Based on the Mann Whitney test pulse rate recovery in the first minute and the second showed no significant difference ( p > 0,05 ), while the third to fifth minute pulse recovery in both groups showed significant differences ( p < 0,05 ) . The decrease of pulse rate in both groups in the first minute until the fifth minute showed significant results ( p < 0,05 ). In conclusion is slow freestyle swimming recovery methods is more effective than  slow breaststroke swimming recovery method in accelerate swimmer pulse rate recovery. The results of this study are expected to increase the knowledge of coaches and swimmer to be able to do a proper recovery methods.

Abstract

Hamstring adalah salah satu otot yang paling sering mengalami pemendekan dan kerap kali menjadi pemicu terjadinya keluhan lain pada tubuh seperti low back pain, plantar facitis, knee pain dan sebagainya hingga perlu dilakukan pemanjangan otot hamstring guna mengurangi resiko timbulnya keluhan di regio lain. Penelitian ini adalah bentuk penelitian eksperimental yang akan menguji efektivitas dari besaran kontraksi 25%, 50%, dan 75% pada teknik contract relax untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas kelompok otot hamstring. pada penelitian ini sampel akan dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok, kelompok pertama diberikan teknik contract relax dengan besaran kontraksi 25% untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas otot hamstring, kelompok kedua diberikan teknik contract relax dengan besaran kontraksi 50% untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas otot hamstring, dan kelompok ketiga diberikan teknik contract relax dengan besaran kontraksi 75% untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas otot hamstring. Penelitian ini mengukur nilai fleksibilitas hamstring pada sebelum intervensi dan setelah intervensi sehingga sampel hanya akan mendapatkan 1 sesi intervensi. Sampel diukur fleksibilitas hamstringnya menggunakan sit and reach test pada sebelum intervensi kemudian dilakukan intervensi sesuai dengan pengelompokan yang telah dibagi kemudian setelah selesai dilakukan intervensi, sampel melakukan pengukuran kembali untuk mendapatkan nilai hasil intervensi. Hasil uji hipotesis Grup I (25%) menunjukkan nilai rerata pada sebelum intervensi 9,74(±3,38) dan nilai rerata pada setelah intervensi 16,00(±3,05), pada uji hipotesis Grup II (50%) menunjukkan nilai rerata pada sebelum intervensi 10,05(±2,68) dan nilai rerata setelah intervensi 16,42(±3,23), dan pada hasil uji hipotesis Grup III (75%) menunjukkan nilai rerata sebelum intervensi 9,66(±2,72) dan nilai rerata setelah intervensi 15,16(±2,95), dengan nilai probailitas pada ketiga Grup adalah 0,000 yang artinya (p<0,05) dan dinyatakan ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari ke tiga intervensi tersebut. Pada uji hipotesis IV dilakukan perbandingan hasil pada grup I, II, dan III, dengan menggunakan one way anova dengan hasil rerata Grup I 16,00(±3,05), Grup II 16,42(±3,23), dan Grup III 15,16(±2,95) dengan nilai probabilitas (p=0,442) yang artinya (p>0,05) dan dapat dinyatakan secara analisis statistik tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara ke tiga intervensi yang dilakukan.Kata kunci: PNF, Contract-relax, hamstring, fleksibilitas, S-EMG

Abstract

Children in 7-8 years, the kinesthetic intelligence was more necessary incognitive development phase. Its indicated by the activities of chuildren’s motion suchas coordination between eye and hand. Gymnastics is a serial of simple physical activitywhich helps to optimize the brain function, one of them is coordination. This study wasconducted to determine how much improvement the addition of brain gym at SKJ 2008program to increase the coordination between eye and hand of children in age 7-8 years old. This study used an experimental method. It used the control group by using a studydesign two group pre and posttest control group design. This study was conducted at SDNegeri 3 Sumberjo Central Lampung, the training sessions were given 3 times during 6weeks. The number of samples was 36 children were divided into two groups. Thecontrol group was SKJ 2008 program however in the treatment group was given theaddition of brain gym in SKJ 2008 program. The tool used the wall toss test to measurethe eye and hand coordination which was conducted pre-intervention and postintervention.The results of test used independent t-test to determine eye and handcoordination. From the test was obtained the result that the increasing of eye and handcoordination in the mean post-intervention of group treatment was 7,06 ± 1,63 whichwas compared with control group was 4,44 ± 1,15 with p value = 0,000 (p <0,05). Theaddition of brain gym on SKJ 2008 program was more increasing the coordinationbetween eye and hand of children in age 7-8 years old in sd negeri 3 sumberjo at centrallampung.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Short-term memory plays a role in all children's cognitive processes both in understanding the language, working on the task and problem-solving process. The speed of cognitive processes in children depend on the degree of activation of short-term memory. With stimulation that given in the form of brain-activating movements is expected to integrate short-term memory and long-term memory to generate new knowledge or expand the existing load in long-term memory. Cognitive function and academic achievement can also be influenced by the level of physical fitness. Physical fitness is very useful to support the physical capacity of children who in the end expected to improve his performance. Objective: This research was conducted to find out how big increase of short-term memory and physical fitness at the addition of Brain Gym in SSAI program at elementary school student of Inpres Pondang. Method: This research is true experimental, using two group pre and post test control group design. This research was conducted at SD Inpres Pondang, 3 times weekly for 6 weeks, at January 22, 2018 - March 05, 2018. The sample of research is 42 people divided into two groups. The Control Group in the form of SSAI program and the Treatment Group was given the addition of Brain Gym in the SSAI program. The measuring instrument used to memory span to measure short-term memory and TKJI to measure physical fitness. Results: The results of hypothesis testing using Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test. Wilcoxon test results showed short-term memory improvement in the treatment group significantly (p<0.05), the control group showed significant short-term memory increase (p<0.05). The result of hypothesis test shows the value of increase of physical fitness index in the treatment group significantly (p<0.05). The increase value of physical fitness index in control group significantly (p<0.05). Mann Whitney test results showed the value of span digits in the treatment group and control group with p=0.005 (p<0.05). Physical fitness value in treatment group and control group with p value = 0.091 (p>0.05). Conclusion: Statistically there is a difference in the addition of brain gymnastics to SSAI in increasing short-term memory of elementary students. Statistically there is no difference in the addition of brain gymnastics in SSAI in improving physical fitness in elementary school students.Keywords: Short term memory, physical fitness, memory span, Indonesian physical fitness test, brain gym, healthy gymnastics Indonesian children.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Perkembangan teknologi memudahkan seseorang untuk menyelesaikan tugas sehari-hari. Banyak orang menghabiskan sebagian besar waktunya untuk berada di depan gawai. Dampak negatif yang timbul pada penggunaan gawai yang berlebihan adalah buruknya postur tubuh, karena seseorang cenderung akan duduk dengan posisi leher yang membungkuk ke depan. Hal tersebut akan menyebabkan ketidakseimbangan kerja otot area leher, terjadi ketegangan terus menerus tanpa disertai relaksasi yang cukup pada otot upper trapezius akan menimbulkan myofascial pain syndrome pada otot tersebut. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk menemukan intervensi fisioterapi yang efektif dan efisien guna menurunkan nilai disabilitas leher pada myofascial pain syndrome otot upper trapezius. Metode: Penelitian ini bersifat experimental, dengan pretest-posttest design dengan randomisasi sebagai desain penelitiannya. Intervensi dilakukan 3 kali seminggu selama 4 minggu. Sampel merupakan pasien di klinik Fitasoma, Colomadu, Karanganyar, yang terdiri dari 19 orang berusia 25 - 40 tahun, dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yang terdiri dari Kelompok I dengan perlakuan intervensi integrated neuromuscular inhibition technique yang berjumlah 9 orang dan Kelompok II dengan perlakuan aktivasi deep cervical flexor muscle yang berjumlah 10 orang. Pengukuran nilai disabilitas menggunakan Neck Disability Index. Hasil: Terdapat penurunan nilai disabilitas leher yang bermakna pada ke dua kelompok. Pada Kelompok I didapat rerata dari 40,00 menjadi 21,67 dan pada Kelompok II di dapat rerata dari 39,10 menjadi 30,30. Uji beda setelah perlakuan pada masing-masing kelompok didapatkan nilai p=0,042 dan selisih rerata 18,33 pada Kelompok I dan 8,80 pada Kelompok II yang berarti Integrated Neuromuscular Inhibition Technique lebih baik daripada aktivasi deep cervical flexor muscle dalam menurunkan nilai disabilitas leher.

Abstract

Low Back Pain is one of the most musculoskeletal problem. LBP can cause disability,material loss and biopsychosocial problem. The most effective management for LBP is stilldiscussing in the health practitioner and scientist between Aquatic Exercise or McKenzieExercise. The aim of this study is to prove the different between Aquatic Exercise withMcKenzie Exercise to reduce disability in Discogenic Low Back Pain patients. This studywas the true experimental control trial research, with randomized pre-test and post-testdesign. The study was conducted in Physiotherapy Clinic in Borromeus Hospital Bandungand Melinda Surgery Hospital Bandung. The samples were 19 divided into two groups.Group I with Aquatic Exercise was 9 people and Group II with McKenzie Exercise was 10people. The measuring instrument in this study was Oswestry Disability Index. Results of thehypothesis used paired t-test and independent t-test. The hypothesis test results showed thatboth of groups can reduce disability significantly with mean in Group I = 25,9248 ± 3,98214,p value = 0.001 (p < 0.05) and Group II = 16,912 ± 4,0873, p value = 0.001. And between 2groups there were significant difference with mean = 8,57193 ± 3,66789, p value = 0.032 (p< 0.05). The conclusions where both of Aquatic Exercise and McKenzie Exercise couldreduced disability significantly and Aquatic Exercise was better than McKenzie Exercise toreduce disability in Discogenic Low Back Pain patients. This study can be suggested that thisAquatic Exercise program to reduce disability in Discogenic Low Back Pain. The multicenter study should be held with longer time and much more subjects.Key

Abstract

ABSTRACTBasketball is a big ball game that requires well cardiovascular endurance. Cardiovasculer endurance can be improved using interval training and fartlek training. This study aimed to determine the effect of interval training and fartlek training on cardiovascular endurance improvement. The study was a experimental that use randomized pretest posttest design group control that does in SMA Negeri 1 Sukawati. The sample of study was students of extracurricular basketball SMA Negeri 1 Sukawati, which were 22 students that divided into 2 groups. Both groups were given different training during 6 weeks with training frequency three times a week for one and a half months. The first group was given interval training and the second group was given fartlek training. Cardiovascular endurance was measured with a multistage fitness test (MFT). The result showed the mean of cardiovascular endurance between the groups after training was 41.66 ± 2.733 ml / kg / minute in the interval training group and was 48.92 ± 2.385 ml / kg / minute in the fartlek group. The cardiovascular endurance between both groups was significantly different (p<0.05), meaningful and have improvement. The conclusion is the interval training and fartlek training are able to improve cardiovascular endurance, however fartlek training is better than interval training in improving cardiovascular endurance. Therefore, it is advisable to use fartlek training to improve cardiovascular endurance for basketball players.Keywords: cardiovascular endurance, fartlek training, interval training

Abstract

Stroke patient would have impaired activities of daily living. One-sided weakness of extremities, poor body control, and gait instability. Rehabilitation in stroke patient, effective and can improve the function of the impaired limb. Exercise can provide the functional activity of learning and apply the basic premise that the capacity of the brain is able to reorganize and adaptable so with targeted exercises it can be improved. This study aimed to compare the efficiacy of conventional methods, applications kinesiotaping, and MRP method in improving the gait pattern of stroke patients. The study has pre and post test with control group design using 3 groups. There are 10 people in each group. The first group was given conventional intervention methods, group II given Kinesiotaping application, and the third group was given the intervention using the MRP  with duration of exercise 3 times a week with a time of 60 minutes for 4 weeks. Data in the form of pre-test and post-test patterns of stroke patients analized by using Wisconsin Gait Scale. Samples were 30 divided into 3 groups. In the conventional group had a mean age of 62.3 years with a number of men 5 men and 5 women. At Kinesiotaping group had a mean age of 65.1 years with a number 6 men and 4 women. While the MRP group had a mean age of 62.6 years with a number 6 men and 4 women. Results of hypothesis testing using Anova showed a significant difference between the (average of the WGS scores after intevention of the three groups, with value of p<0,05. The comparison on each method showed that the Kinesiotaping application and MRP have significant difference, but the Kinesiotaping application showed no significally difference with MRP. The conclusions in this study that the conventional methods, Kinesiotaping application and MRP has different efficacy on improfing gait pattern of stroke patient.

Abstract

Introdaction: Patients with mechanic neck pain a population that often found overstretches it is caused by occurred between the two bones in the neck on the ligaments and soft tissues located around, static resulting in hipomibilitas the joint space and joint play movement, resulting in the emergence of provocation on the part of the occipital region on Cervical stressor resulting in excess tissue around the contractile and non-contractile. Purpose: This study the application of ultrasound and McKenzie exercise and myofacial release ultrasound in reducing disability in mechanical neck pain, Methods: This research method is a quasi experimental research with Pre and Post Test Two Group Design. The samples were divided into two treatment groups consisting of McKenzie exercice and ultrasounds were 20 participants with myofascial release and ultrasound with 19 participants, a total of 39 participants. Result: Differences between the mean decrease in neck with NDI disability before and after the application of each group were tested by t-test related, the results obtained mean between the groups before treatment 17,10±1,889% and after treatment 12,90±2,490% by value (p = 0.001) with a mean difference of 42% and showed the average group between before treatment 17,42±2,388% and after treatment 15,63±2,362% (p = 0.001) with a mean difference of 17,9%. The statistical test of using independent t-test showed is a significant difference between group I and group II and the result is p = 0.001 (p< 0.05). Conclusion: application of combined Mc Kenzie exercise and ultrasound better than the application of a combination of myofacial release and ultrasound in reducing disabilities in case of mechanical neck pain.
