Abstract

This study looks at the contemporary phenomena of the birth of two religions within Islam and Christianity, namely Ahmadiyyah and Mormonism. Through the frame of world religion classification, this study emphasizes what makes these sects become and classified by many scholars as ‘New Religions’ while other sects are not. This study re-looks at how hybrid religions have been crafted, developed and classified based on the age of the religion and where those religions first appeared, this study also looks at the historical process of how these hybrid religions became new religions. By considering the historical process, understanding prophecy, religious teaching, believe and particular interpretation over the main religions, this study aims to understand the emergent process of ‘new religions’ as temporary shelters for illegitimate sects. By comparing two sects, I conclude that these new religions have some common grounds which can be seen through interpreting the meaning of ‘prophet’ and ‘prophecy’, religious entities that make these sects excluded from the big umbrellas they are under Islam and Christianity. Keywords:Religion, Sect, Prophet, Prophecy

Abstract

This article attempts to explain the efforts of Abu Hamid al Ghazali in bringing together two poles; philosophy and taṣawwuf, between reason and revelation, between spiritual and intellectual. This is the widely misunderstood by many researchers; the allegations that al-Ghazali is the estuary of stagnancy of progressive thinking is a hasty and reckless accusation. In this article, the author finds that al Ghazali's philosophical passion has begun since he was very young; much of al Ghazali's work is a testament to this. Then, although shifted to the realm of taṣawwuf, the influence of philosophy is still very subtle in the rhetoric of his writings. The depth of Ghazali's knowledge in Fiqh Shafi'i becomes another proof of the combination of reason and revelation in Ghazali's thoughts coupled with the Ash'ariyya school which he purports as his theological foundation.  Keywords:Abu Hamid al Ghazali, Taṣawwuf, Philosophy

Single story created stereotype which containing the truth, but it was incomprehensive ways or unfinished story. According to Diechie, single story is a way to tell and portray something monolithically. Single story is related to tendency of human centered for seeing that she is better than other. There are no possibilities to look at the other as equal and connected with them. The other has assumed as an alien that is totally different and has no possibilities to be connected with them. This paper also describes debate between Edward Said and Bernard Lewis and Richard King about orientalism. These scholars are coming from different background but having shared point of view about orientalism. Keywords : single story, orientalism, Edward Said

Abstract

Abstract

This is a study of the theological comments of Imam Tirmidzi and those of which he mentioned in his book “al-Jami’ al-Kabir”. These comments provide us a picture of how the early generations of Islam dealt with the issues related to Creed and Aqeda,Furthermore the issue of scarcity of views and comments associated to the earlygenerations of Islam in dealing the issues of Creed and Aqeda is also dealt with in this study. Most of the comments of at-Tirmidzi in the study are mentioned as exact quotations and then they are classified according to the topics they are related to, and after classification analysis of the content along with the methodology and inclination ofthe holder of the opinion regarding these issues of Aqeda is studied. The study shows that the issue which overwhelmed and kept the early generation of Islam occupied was the issue of amal(Actions) related to those issues of creed or in other words theywere more interested in the actions which has to exist as a result of that aqedah hence those whose thoughts and emotions are attached to these early generations of Islam have to follow them in their pursuit of actions more than any other thing. Moreover regarding the conception of anthropomorphistic attributes the study yields that the more accurate and sound opinion associated to the early generations in this regard in the opinion of Tafwedhi.e to depute the knowledge of its meaning to Godalone and that on extremely rare occasions they use to incline towards their taweeli.e metaphorical interpretation. And this last issue in particular must and should be discussed within scholarly circles only and the general public should refrain from indulging themselves in such technical issues.

Abstract

Muslim terrorist group is a contrast issue, they are the one who openly opposes the U.S. Oppression, but on another side, they are blamed for being a terrorist. The story started with oppression on Muslim countries everywhere: Afghanistan was invaded by USSR army, then 1991, Iraq also was attacked as a response call from the US to Kuwaiti aid request, then in 2001, Afghanistan was invaded and occupied by the U.S., then the raid over Taliban and all its organization in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the military operation in Iraq, 2003, and daily killing upon Palestinian since 1967 with no ending etc. So, the counter upon oppression rises, but unfortunately those who struggled to defend Muslim territories against U.S. invasion are called as a “terrorist”. Once upon a time in 2000, Bali was the most destined of tourism but unexpectedly, a big tragedy happened in Indonesia with the bomb explosion in Bali Island and killed 202 people, most of the victims were foreign tourists. The result of investigations pointed to “Jemaah Islamiyah” as an actor of that incident. The national and International news media posted that “Jamaah Islamiyah” did a terror on the basis of jihad against America and its allies who invaded a Muslim country, but unfortunately, the victims were civilians who have nonsense affiliated with politics. Keywords:Terrorist, Extremism, and Radical Muslim Group
