Abstract

The aim of this research is to know about the histological structure and morphometry of lungs from the etawah crossbreed. This research used 64 samples taken from both young and adult Etawah crossbred goats and then made histology preparations. The histology preparations are colored by the Harris-Hematoxylin Eosin method. The results showed that the histological structure of the lungs of etawah crossbred goats was mostly composed of the alveoli, wrapped by the capsule, and in it was found bronchial and bronchioles. There are no differences in lung capsule thickness within male and female etawah crossbred goats for both young and adult ages (P>0.05), but the visceral pleura in female goats is denser than in adults. The bronchus contours of the male goats were larger (P<0.05) than females at both young and adult goats. Etawah crossbred male goat’s lungs have more hyaline cartilage than females with flat forms where on the male it is elongated beyond adventitia whereas in female is round. Bronchioles contours in adult goats is larger (P<0.05) than in the female. On the other side, the bronchioles contour in young female goats is larger. The smooth muscles of males' bronchioles are circular with clear boundaries, while on females, its boundaries are not clear and discontinuous.

Abstract

Control of worm parasites can be done by administering worm medicine, one of them by using traditional medicine. One of them is an ant nest which has an anthelmintic potential in the A. suum worm. This study used A. suum worms obtained from Pesanggaran slaughterhouse, Denpasar and then grown in vitro. A total of 90 worms were divided into 6 treatment groups where each dose used 5 worms. Worm group P0 was soaked with 20ml Physiological NaCl as a negative control, P1 worm group soaked with 20ml Physiological NaCl and added 1% albendazole as positive control, P2 worm group soaked with 5% ant nest extract solution, P3 soaked group of worms with a solution of 10% ant nest extract, the P4 group of worms was soaked with a solution of 15% ant nest extract, P5 of the worm group was soaked with 20% ant nest extract solution. The results obtained showed that there was an increase in anthelmintic power of ant nest extract against A. suum worms. At the dose of 20% ant nest extract has the same anthelmintic power with positive control (93.33%). The ant nest extract is effective as an A. suum worm drug proven to have an anthelmintic effect so that its use can be developed to control ascariasis in pigs.

Abstract

Food safety aspects of animal origin need special attention because the new diseases that attack humans are almost 75% caused by infectious agents that come from animals or animal products. The purpose of this study was to analyze the health of pork and offals (innards) by slaughterhouse production, which potentially transmits zoonotic disease in humans. This research used a qualitative explorative survey method that analyzed the health of pig meat and offals inspected by inspection, palpation, and incision based on sex difference (male and female) and animal age (young and adult) with total samples examined each of 100 samples. The results of this study indicate that pork is examined in Pesanggaran abattoir all healthy, pulmonary organs show necrosis 15% (9% adult females/AF and 6% adult males/AM), 30% pneumonia (22% AF and 8% AM), hemorrhage and pneumonia 5% (4% AF and 1% AM), in the heart organ 13% showed hypertrophy/hyperplasia (7% AF and 6% AM), and 1% of the liver (AM) had cysticercosis. It can be concluded that pork slaughterhouse production in Pesanggaran is all healthy and only a small part of the offals (5-30%) shows abnormalities that have the potential to transmit zoonotic diseases to humans.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth rate of length dimension of male and female swamp buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) in Central Lombok. This study measured 54 swamp buffaloes (27 male and 27 female) from Central Lombok Regency. The age of buffalo is measured from the age of nine months to 20 months, and each 3 male and female swamp buffalo is measured at the same age. The measurement of body length dimensions carried out every month as many as 18 buffalo consisted of nine male and nine females. So that measurements are made for 3 months. The data obtained were analyzed by multivariant and power regression. The results of the multivariant analysis showed that the growth rate of male buffalo body dimensions was significantly different from the females (P<0.05) in Central Lombok Regency. The results of the power regression analysis showed that the correlation coefficients of each dimension of head, horn, ear, neck, body and male and female swamp buffalo were significantly different (P<0.05). The earliest dimensions of the male buffalo body growth are the dimensions of the head length then followed by body length, tail length, neck length, ear length, and the last is the length of the horn. While the longest dimensions of the female buffalo mud body grow are dimensions of head length, body length and ear length, then followed by tail length, neck length and finally horn length which has a later growth rate.

Abstract

Induction of heat is one of the technologies in the field of reproduction to accelerate the appearance of heat in cattle. Many methods are used to induction of heat, one of them is by giving prostaglandin F2?. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the administration of PGF2? in bali cattle anestrus postpartum with corpus luteum functioning and different body weights to induce the appearance of heat, non-return rate, and conception rate after insemination once and twice at 12-hour intervals. This research was conducted using a randomized block design based on body weight and the number of insemination. Group I (P1) is a group with a bodyweight of less than 250 kg and received one insemination when the appearance of lust, Group II (P2) with a bodyweight of less than 250 kg and received two inseminations at 12-hour intervals, group III (P3) with body weights above 250 kg with one insemination and group IV (P4) with body weights above 250 kg and received twice insemination at 12-hour intervals. Statistical analysis and testing are done by the analysis of variance. The results showed that the administration of PGF2? caused the emergence of estrus in all experimental animals and there was no significant difference (P> 0.05) to the appearance of heat between the four treatment groups, and the insemination treatment twice intervals 12 hours also had no significant effect to enhance the number of non-return rate and conception rate.

Abstract

The poultry industry in Samarinda faces high environmental temperatures with high air temperatures between 20 ° C-34 ° C with an average rainfall per 1980 mm, and the average humidity is 85%. High temperatures can trigger heat stress that can disrupt the broiler's growth, which affects weight loss, increase FCR (feed conversion ratio) value, and decrease IP value (Performance Index). This study aims to determine the effect of giving different doses of betaine through drinking water in improving broiler performance, including weight, FCR and IP. The sample of this study amounted to 1,200 7-day old female broilers and the results were analyzed with statistical analysis of Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with four treatments, the dose used is; P0 (0.0 g/L), P1 (0.5 g/L), P2 (1.0 g/L) dan P3 (2.0 g/L). The result of statistical analysis showed that the addition of betaine had a significant effect (P <0.05) for the best average weight gain on treatment P2 (1.0 g/L) 1.870 ± 0.009d, the best FCR value at treatment P2 (1.0 g/L) 1.500 ± 0.089a and the best IP value at treatment P2 (1.0 g/L) 368.333 ± 4.033d. Betaine could increase weight, optimize FCR and improve IP.

Abstract

Feline infectious peritonitis is a viral infection in cats with clinical signs of ascites occurring in the effusion form. Ascites are a common form of systemic state characterized by abdominal distention caused by fluid accumulation. A local cat aged 1year with a weight of 4 kg named Minmin came to Udayana University Animal Education Hospital with complaints of decreased appetite, weakness, difficulty defecation and abdominal cavity enlargement. On physical examination is known the presence of abdominal distension. For the edification of the diagnosis is carried out ultrasound examination, X-ray, and abdominocentesis. There is an accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity, hepatomegaly, and nephritis. Routine hematology and blood biochemical examinations are performed that indicate chronic inflammation and abnormalities in kidney function. Rivalta test results showed positive results of accumulated exudate characterized by jellyfish like formation. Therapy given in the form of diuretic administration furosemide 10 mg / ml intravenous injection with the amount of administration 0.45 ml (2 x daily), ornipural hepatoprotector subcutaneous injection with the amount of administration 2 ml (every 2 days), nephroprotektor ketosteril per oral with a total administration of 1/2 tablet (every 2 days), antibiotic cefotaxim sodium 1g/ml intravenous injection with a total administration of 1.3 ml (2 x daily), anti-inflammatory dexamethasone 5mg/ml subcutaneous injection with an amount of 0.4ml (2 x daily), and transfer factor 1 x 1 tablet for 7 days. The treatment provided gives good results against a decrease in the degree of abdominal distention.
