Abstract

Dasar permasalahan pengkajian dalam penelitian ini adalah penggunaan peer assessment sebagai penilaian pada proses pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pelaksanaan peer assessment sebagai penilaian proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan pada mata kuliah Assessment and Evaluation melalui lesson study dan apakah penggunaan peer assessment sebagai penilaian proses pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Data tentang bagaimana penggunaan peer assessment dan apakah peer assessment dapat meningkatkan keaktifan mahasiwa dalam pembelajaran diperoleh melalui lembar observasi observer, video rekaman proses pembelajaran dan pengamatan oleh dosen model (peneliti). Berdasarkan hasil pengkajian dapat disimpulkan bahwa peer assessment sebagai penilaian proses belajar sebagian sudah dapat dilaksanakan sesuai dengan tahapan prosedur peer assessment yaitu dengan menggunakan rubric dan format penilaian namun masih ada beberapa tahapan yang belum sesuai yaitu rubric yang digunakan tidak disusun bersama dengan mahasiswa dan belum ada tahapan feedback oleh mahasiswa dan penggunaan peer assessment juga dapat meningkatkan keaktifan mahasiswa dalam belajar.

Abstract

Learner Centered Curriculum in the teaching of English in the classroom setting needs attention from educational practitioners, especially teachers of English. This is because; good curriculum hopefully will give beneficial contribution to the quality of teaching of English in Indonesia which is assumed today very low. This paper discusses a variety of issues deal with curriculum. Those issues are identification of curriculum problem, curriculum design, characteristics of ideal curriculum, curriculum development in Indonesia, and learner centered curriculum.

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the type of code switching used in the facebook and finding out the reasons why the people switched their language. The respondents of this study were Indonesianfacebook users. The data were taken from 10 facebookusers' profiles comment and status columns. The writer found that the facebookers used three types of code switching namely: tag switching, inter-sentential switching and intra-sentential switching. The facebookers switched their language for: (1) the activation of the speakers speech repertoire, (2) style markers, (3) switch the code, (4) switch for emphasis, (5) switch to indicate topic, (6) switch to separate feelings from facts, (7) switch to frame discourse, and (8) switch to intent on clarifying the speech content for the interlocutor

Abstract

The video site YouTube can be a valuable tool to teach English and arouse learner independence. Using YouTube both inside and outside the classroom can improve conversation, listening and pronunciation skills. YouTube video can also be utilized as regalia to enhance exposure to the world and support authentic vocabulary development. If students and teachers/lecturers have unlimited access to the Internet, YouTube can be a useful tool through which multiple skills in English can be taught. This paper offered possible inadequacy that may come by using online video technology.

Di antara unsur-unsur pemadu frase verba ini ada yang bersifat wajib (Obligatory) dan adapula yang bersifat manasuka (Optional). Unsur yang bersifat wajib adalah verba, sedangkan yang bersifat manasuka adalah ajektiva, modalitas, aspek dan ingkar. Abstract

This research explored the use of indirect corrective feedback could improve the students writing ability to the fourth semester students of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Keperawatan (STIK) Stella Maris Makassar. The researcher chose two classes of the fourth semester students of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Keperawatan (STIK) Stella Maris Makassar randomly, as the experimental class and the control class. The two classes were given treatment. This paper describes the control class, which was taught with indirect corrective feedback. The data were collected through writing test. The result of the data analysis showed that there was significant difference between the students score who were taught by using indirect feedback and class without indirect corrective feedback. It is proved by the mean score of the experimental class is higher than control class in the posttest. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the use of corrective feedback improved the students writing ability of the fourth semester students of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Keperawatan (STIK) Stella Maris Makassar in academic year 2013/2014.

Abstract

This article is aimed at describing the use of pairs teaching in developing students vocabulary. Vocabulary plays an important role in learning English. It is a core component of language proficiency. In mastering English well, students should have sufficient vocabulary because vocabulary is needed in four language skills; they are listening, speaking, reading and writing. Those skills support each other. One of the methods that can be used to teach vocabulary is pairs teaching. Pairs teaching are a classroom activity in which the whole class is divided into groups. Pairs teaching as method which provides a great review and enables students to gather information from each other. The students not only silent in the class but they are sharing idea to get information especially sharing vocabulary. It was first organized as a theory by Scotsman Andrew Bell in 1795, and later implemented into French and English schools in the 19th century. Over the past 30-40 years, pairs teaching have become increasingly popular in conjunction with mixed ability grouping in public schools and an interest in more financially efficient methods of teaching.

Reading is certainly one area that receives considerable attention in academic life. Teacher/lecturer have come to realize that students attitude toward reading is every bit as important as improving students reading comprehension. The creation and maintenance of positive attitude toward reading comprehension is expected to be steppingstone of the students success of being good reader. This paper is discussed about the importance of attitudes in relation with reading comprehension. It is expected will give contribution for educator in teaching reading comprehension in all level of education.
