Abstract

This study aims to examine the success of implementing Congklak 4.0, a digital transformation of the traditional Congklak game, as a learning medium based on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to improve numeracy literacy and mathematical concept understanding of elementary school students. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving 62 students from two elementary schools in Malang, Indonesia, divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments on numeracy literacy and conceptual understanding, supported by student response questionnaires. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group using Congklak 4.0 compared to the control group, with an average N-Gain of 0.67 (moderate to high category) for numeracy literacy and 0.71 (high category) for conceptual understanding. In addition, 87% of students expressed positive responses to the integration of Congklak 4.0 in mathematics learning, highlighting increased motivation and engagement. These findings indicate that Congklak 4.0 not only preserves cultural heritage by digitalizing a traditional game but also provides an effective, interactive, and enjoyable tool for mathematics learning. The study suggests that integrating digital traditional games with RME can be an innovative strategy to support numeracy literacy improvement programs in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs in developing ethnoscience-based chemistry learning media oriented toward science process skills (SPS), particularly on the Voltaic Cell material for 12th-grade senior high school students (SMA/MA). The research method employed was research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, focused on the needs analysis stage through questionnaires administered to 34 students and interviews with a chemistry teacher. The results showed that students’ interest in learning chemistry is still low (67.65% stated they dislike chemistry), and the dominant methods used by teachers are lectures (42.31%) and demonstrations (35.90%), while discussion and project methods that have the potential to train SPS are rarely implemented. The learning media used are still limited to PowerPoint, textbooks, and YouTube, making the learning process tend to be monotonous and less interactive. The majority of students (71%) expect innovative media that is applicable, interactive, and connects chemistry concepts with everyday life contexts and local culture. These findings emphasize the need for the development of ethnoscience-based kits as alternative learning media that are not only practical and economical but also relevant to students’ needs, while simultaneously enhancing learning motivation and science process skills.

Abstract

Drugs are an abbreviation for narcotics and dangerous drugs, whether natural, synthetic, or semi-synthetic. The use and spread of illegal drugs worldwide shows a sharp increase, spreading and affecting all countries and people of all religions, and has caused many fatalities. The purpose of this study is to apply the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method in evaluating risk factors and analyzing the performance of each criterion against drug abuse areas. This data primarily comes from the Bengkulu Province National Narcotics Agency. The consistency test results for each criterion and alternative in the AHP method show consistent values of less than 0.1, indicating that the data used meet the consistency standards required by Saaty for the AHP method. The results of the analysis of preferences for risk factors show that family factors have the highest weight, meaning the role of family is very important, followed by peer group factors, personality, community environment, economic and psychosocial factors, drug availability, anxiety and depression, and school environment. Keywords: AHP, drug abuse, MCDM, risk factors, Bengkulu Province

Abstract

The development of social media opens new opportunities for innovation in learning, particularly in chemistry subjects. Instagram, as one of the most popular platforms, holds great potential to be used as a learning medium because it is easily accessible and capable of presenting engaging visual content. The small-scale chemistry (SSC) ethnoscience-based practicum approach is considered effective in overcoming the limitations of school laboratory facilities by using fewer chemicals, being cost-efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly. The voltaic cell, as one of the electrochemistry topics, is still often perceived as difficult for students to understand if taught only theoretically, thus requiring more practical and relevant learning media. This study aims to analyze the need for integrating Instagram into small-scale chemistry practicum on the topic of voltaic cells. The method employed was a descriptive survey by distributing questionnaires to students and chemistry teachers in several senior high schools in Kepanjen Regency. The results indicate that students found Instagram helpful for discussions and independent learning, while teachers considered SSC effective in reducing challenges related to costs, waste, and limited facilities. The majority of respondents supported the development of SSC-based learning media integrated with Instagram to improve students’ understanding of the voltaic cell concept.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world, and conventional therapies such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy often cause significant side effects. Therefore, natural ingredients are a promising alternative, one of which is Chromolaena odorata, which is known to be rich in flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids. This study aims to systematically review the evidence of anticancer activity of C. odorata based on in vitro and in vivo studies. The literature review was conducted through PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Web of Science databases using the PRISMA 2020 method, and ten articles were obtained that met the inclusion criteria. The analysis showed that C. odorata extracts and fractions have cytotoxic activity against various cancer cell lines, including breast (MCF-7, T47D, MDA-MB-231, 4T1), cervical (HeLa), liver (HepG2), colon (HT-29, WiDr, HTB), and skin keratinocyte models (HaCaT). The identified mechanisms include induction of apoptosis, arrest of the G₀-G₁ phase of the cell cycle, suppression of proliferation, and modulation of apoptosis-regulating protein expression. Kaempferide compounds emerged as the most potent candidates with low toxicity to normal cells. However, differences in the extraction method, dose, and cell type led to variations in effectiveness, and the combination with cisplatin on MDA-MB-231 cells showed antagonistic effects. Thus, C. odorata has great potential to be developed as a complementary therapy as well as a source of new lead compounds, although further research is needed to evaluate bioavailability, pharmacokinetics, and safety through preclinical and clinical trials.
