Abstract

Low Back Pain is pain that is felt in the lower back region. This pain can be local or radicular or both and felt among the bottom corner of the ribs to fold under the buttocks are in the lumbar region. Pain management is usually the pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Cutaneous stimulation, distraction, relaxation, guided imagery, and hypnosis are examples of non-pharmacological interventions that are often used in nursing to manage pain, one of them with a slow-stroke back massage therapy combined with lavender essential oil. This study aims to determine the therapeutic effect of slow stroke back massage with lavender essential oil to decrease the intensity of pain in low back pain at Latu Usadha nursing clinics. This research uses a pre-experimental study using one group pre-test and post-test design without control conducted on 24 respondents selected by incidental sampling technique. Data collected by interview using VAS pain scale were performed before and after the intervention. Data using Shapiro Wilk normality test and then the data is processed by using the Wilcoxon test. Results obtained is ? = 0.000 means there is a therapeutic effect of slow stroke back massage with lavender essential oil to decrease pain in low back pain. Therapy SSBM with lavender oil can reduce pain in low back pain.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is an infectious disease that is becoming a global health problem today. This causes disease prevention is a top priority in avoidance of AIDS and infection of HIV virus that focus on key populations (FSW). Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) is a strategy to prevent the spread of HIV / AIDS. This study used a qualitative approach with a thematic analysis technique to describe and explore health seeking behavior related to early detection of HIV/AIDS among FSW in Sawan, Buleleng Regency. The data was collected (May - June 2015) using in-depth interviews and field observations. Sampling technique used purposive sampling by the number of six participants. The results showed FSW knowledge about HIV/AIDS are still common and have not focused that influence risky sexual behaviors of FSW such as anal sex and oral sex that don’t use condoms. FSW health care view such as health care workers, health care, and special clinics is quite good. Motivating factor in the behavior in seeking health care is the awareness and the desire of the FSW itself, support for the FSW, and an invitation from a friend. FSW inhibiting factor in the behavior in seeking health care is the cost of health care, examination results, lack of information, health care facilities, and partner check. Based on this research, government and health workers together were able to intensify early detection of health services related to HIV/AIDS to suppress the incidence of AIDS, especially in FSW that have a high risk of HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Selama proses perawatan di rumah sakit, neonatus secara rutin mendapatkan tindakan invasif yang menimbulkan nyeri. Nyeri pada neonatus memberikan pengaruh terhadap tumbuh kembangnya yaitu mengakibatkan perilaku, fisiologi dan respon metabolik yang negatif. Oleh karena itu penatalaksanaan yeri secara farmakologis maupun nonfarmakologi sangat diperlukan. Penatalaksanaan nonfarmakologis salah satunya adalah pemberian air susu ibu (ASI). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian suplemen ASI untuk mengurangi nyeri saat dilakukan prosedur venapungsi. Metode penelitian ini adalah studi kasus pada enam bayi kurang bulan yang dilakukan venapungsi pengambilan sampel darah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan sesaat segera sebelum diberikan ASI, rerata denyut jantung dan saturasi oksigen adalah 140x/menit dan 96,5%. Rerata denyut jantung dan saturasi oksigen pada 0, 1, 3,dan 5 menit setelah  prosedur venapungsi dilakukan adalah  147,8 x/menit, 93,1%; 147,1 x/menit, 93,5%; 146,1 x/menit, 94%; 142,5 x/menit, 94,6%. Skor nyeri yang dihitung menggunakan premature infants pain profile (PIPP) pada 0, 1, 3, dan 5 menit setelah prosedur venapungsi (jarum dilepas dari bayi) dilakukan adalah 7,0; 5,8; 3,3; 2,5. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pemberian ASI sebanyak dua milliliter pada dua menit sebelum dilakukan tindakan venapungsi dapat mengurangi nyeri dan waktu menangis bayi akibat prosedur venapungsi pengambilan sampel darah.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2012 there are 11 States that the cause of death of children aged under five years in Indonesia, where diarrhea was ranked eighth. In Indonesia, diarrhea claimed the lives of about 6% of the total number of children in Indonesia. The most important thing in diarrheal disease management is preventive efforts. In delivering health promotion for children of preschool age, it takes interesting and interactive methods such as singing method and handwashing dance. This research aims to know the handwashing promotion comparison with singing method and handwashing dance of handwashing techniques knowledge in preschool-aged children. This research uses a type of quantitative research design experimental research or quasy experiment through the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. A large sample of 74 people (38 person group singing method, 36 people group handwashing dance) were selected for a total sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection by using the observation sheets hand washing techniques. Based on nonparametric Mann-Whitney test in mind that the value of Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) results under the 0.05 so that there is a meaningful difference between the increase in handwashing techniques knowledgewithsinging method and handwashing dance, while the average value of an increased score before and after intervention handwashing dance is higher compared to the singing methods namely 54,71 with 21.20. Then it can be inferred that the handwashing intervention dance more effective in improving knowledge of the techniques of hand washing in preschool-aged children in PAUD TK Pra Widyalaya Gurukula and PAUD Negeri Pembina Bangli.

Abstract

The tuberculosis control program can be done through support groups. Support group is a group of social people or professional to support TB patients and family to adhere of treatment and prevention of TB transmission. Support groups tuberculosis involving health volunteer in community is called Kelompok Kader Peduli TB (KKP-TB). The purpose of research is to identify the ability of knowledge, attitudes, and skills of KKP-TB in TB control program. The results showed an increase in knowledge, attitudes, and skills of KKP-TB in controlling TB. Kelompok Kader Peduli TB can strengthen TB control programs in the community.

Abstract

The examination of Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) is one method to detect the presence of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) in Diabetic patients. Inaccuracy the diagnosis of PAD results in the inadequate treatment of PAD and this can lead to serious problems such as  amputations, impaired functional capacity, low quality of life and depression. This study aims to determine differences ABI examination Pre and Post Exercise in diabetic patients with intermittent claudication. This study design was  one group pre-post test with  17 samples. The test were analyzed using dependent t test and showed  a significant differences ABI value pre and post exercise on the right foot with  p value of 0.004 and the left foot with  p value of  0.000. This study showed  the measurement of ABI post exercise more objective for the diagnosis of PAD in diabetic  patients with intermittent claudication or suspected PAD.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a chronic sexually transmitted infection. HIV in addition to causing physical disorders, also can cause social disruption affects the patient's life. One approach that is often used in assisting patients who have long suffered from HIV/AIDS is through spiritual therapy. Spiritual therapies that do may indirectly increase the significance of spirituality patient about his illness. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of spirituality with the level of quality of life in patients with HIV/AIDS in Yayasan Spirit Paramacitta Denpasar. This research was a cross sectional study conducted during one week. The sample consisted of 45 people were selected by purposive sampling. Data collected by using a questionnaire of spiritual and quality of life to determine the level of spirituality and level of quality of life of respondents. Based on Spearman Rank test showed p=0,000 means that there were a correlation between the level of spirituality with the level of quality of life of patients with HIV/AIDS. With the r value = 0,829. Based on these, foundation or LSM suggested to be more intensive in providing spiritual care for people with HIV so that their quality of life will be better.

Abstract

Aging process results in decreasing the ability of the body's tissue. One of it is muscle tissue that cause body balance disorder on elderly. One way that can be done to overcome the body balance disorder is by doing elderly exercise regularly. This research aimed to identify the effect of elderly exercise to body balance on elderly in Dajan Bingin Sading. The method used in this study was pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample amounted to 27 people were gotten through purposive sampling technique. The data was collected through observation with the Berg Balance Scale check list. The pre-exercise measurement showed that majority of respondents had mild balance disorders (63%), whereas post-exercise result revealed that majority of respondents had good body balance (51,9%). The result of data analysis showed that there is effect of elderly exercise to body balance on elderly in Dajan Bingin Sading with p value=0,001 (p?0,05). Based on this result, it is suggested to the elderly to do elderly exercise regularly to overcome the body balance disorder along their aging processes.

Abstract

Primary headache is a headache which is not yet clearly an anatomical abnormalities, structural abnormalities or others precipitation. The factor that can trigger primary headaches such as stress, physical exercise, diet, alcohol, and hormones. Primary headache can be treated with acupuncture therapy. Acupuncture therapy is a therapeutic insertion of needles in the head and acupoints in the body. The aim of this study determines the therapeutic effect of acupuncture pain intensity on clients with primary headaches. This study is a pre-experimental studies (one-group pre-test post-test design). The technical sampling use incidental sampling and there are chosen 35 respondents. Data collected by using a sheet instrument to get demographic data and pain scale. The research find before acupuncture therapy, 28 respondents with moderate pain, 6 respondents with severe pain and 1 respondents with mild pain. The pain scale after a there are decreasing pain scale. The 16 respondents with moderate pain and 19 respondents with mild pain. The results obtained by Wilcoxon test, there are therapeutic effect of acupuncture on pain intensity in patients with primary headache. Based on these results suggested nurse to use acupuncture therapy besides pharmacological therapy.

Abstract

Background: The time that students spend in a college is a transition period which bridging the developmental stage from childhood to adulthood. This period is characterized by their increasing sense of responsibility and autonomy for health. Student’s lifestyle will affect their lives in the future; it goes the same for nursing students. This may potentially affect their role in the future as a health promoter and a role model in health promotion. Objectives: To obtain the picture of lifestyle pattern of nursing students in Nursing Department Faculty of Medicine Udayana University. Methods: This study used descriptive cross-sectional design. Samples were active students of A and B programs in Nursing Department Faculty of Medicine Udayana University, both those are in academic and profession phases and met the inclusion criteria. The number of respondents from each class was determined based on the quota sampling technique. Data were collected using a fifty-two Likert scale questions from Health Promoting-Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II) questionnaire that had been adapted into Indonesian language. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistic. Results : One hundred eighty nine questionnaires were collected back by respondents (87.91% respond rate). The scores of HPLP-II for all categories were in the range of 2.22 to 2.93. Spiritual development had the highest score (M =2.93, SD =0.38), meanwhile the value of physical activity had the lowest score (M=2.22, SD=0.42). Conclusion: Nursing students in Nursing Department Faculty of Medicine Udayana University have a relatively low healthy lifestyle scores and characterized by the dominance of HPLP-II scores below the average. Health promotion strategy that fits the needs and characteristics of nursing students is required. Furthermore, further research is needed to confirm the findings on this study.
