Abstract

This study is motivated by the low understanding of the concept of students on the subject of cells, especially transport across membranes, due to the abstract nature of the subject and the lack of materials that encourage independent concept discovery. The purpose of this study is to develop a Student Work Sheet based on the Concept Attainment Model and to test its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in biology classes for 11th grade students at SMAN 10 Gowa. The research and development method used is ADDIE, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study involved 31 students in the 11th grade. The instruments included a validation sheet, a survey of teachers and students, and a learning outcome test. The results of the study showed that the LKPD based on CAM was highly valid, practical, and effective. Penggunaan LKPD membantu siswa mengidentifikasi ciri-ciri konsep melalui contoh dan noncontoh, meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif, dan memperkuat pemahaman konseptual. Therefore, the LKPD based on the Concept Attainment Model is suitable for use as an alternative teaching material for biology lessons on cells in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the REMAP-GI learning model in class XI of SMAN 10 Gowa, determine the learning activities of class XI students at SMAN 10 Gowa who are taught using the REMAP-GI learning model;determine the learning outcomes of class XI students at SMAN 10 Gowa who are taught using the REMAP-GI model; to determine the effect of the REMAP-GI learning model on the learning activities of students in class XI at SMAN 10 Gowa; determine the effect of the REMAP-GI learning model on the learning outcomes of students in class XI at SMAN 10 Gowa. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The results showed that the average learning activity of students in the control class was 80.50 (active category), while that of the experimental class was 83.00 (very active category). The average learning outcome of the control class was 79.50 (high category), and that of the experimental class was 85.83 (very high category).

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of self-efficacy and scientific literacy on the learning motivation of Grade XI students at MAN Enrekang in biology learning. This research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The sample consisted of 91 students selected through proportional sampling. The research instruments included a self-efficacy questionnaire, a learning motivation questionnaire, and a scientific literacy test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that students’ self-efficacy was in the moderate-to-good category, learning motivation was in the good category, and scientific literacy was at the basic proficiency level. Inferential analysis revealed that self-efficacy had a significant effect on learning motivation with a contribution of 32.9%, whereas scientific literacy showed a low contribution of 1.5%. Simultaneously, self-efficacy and scientific literacy accounted for 34.8% of learning motivation. These findings indicate that self-efficacy is a more dominant factor in enhancing students’ learning motivation compared to scientific literacy. Therefore, strengthening self-efficacy through instructional strategies that support self-confidence, mastery experiences, and positive learning environments should become an important concern in biology learning.

Abstract

Escherichia coli is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes intestinal and extraintestinal diseases in humans due to the consumption of unhygienic beverages. Its virulence allows Escherichia coli to evade the host's immune system. This study aims to identify the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria in PDAM drinking water consumed by residents of RT 010 RW 002 Kladufu Village, Sorong City. This study uses a descriptive method with a laboratory observation approach and a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study consists of all households that consume PDAM drinking water without boiling it, totaling 60 homes. The sampling technique is purposive sampling, considering the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Out of 60 research samples, only 38 were willing to be respondents and met the criteria, resulting in 38 water samples for laboratory testing. The research results show that out of 38 water samples tested, 20 samples (57.9%) were identified as positive for Escherichia coli bacteria, and 18 samples (42.1%) did not contain these bacteria. This finding indicates that most of the PDAM water consumed by residents has not yet met the standards for safe drinking water quality, which could pose a health risk.
