Abstract

Latosols soil conditions are poor in nutrients and tailing of gold mine contain heavy metal causes low productivity of forage. The objective of this research to study the best combination of soil potential microorganisms and soil conditioner that can promote the growth and production of legume crops Calopogonium mucunoides Desv. Seven treatments used were A: control, B: arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), C: AMF + Rhizobium, D: AMF + Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (BPF), E: AMF + Humic Acid, F: AMF + BPF + Rhizobium, G: AMF + BPF + Humic Acid + Rhizobium. Variables measured were the root dry weight, shoot dry weight, spread length, number of trifoliate leaves, the number of active root nodules, the percentage of root infection. Augmentation of soil microorganisms and soil conditioner not effective enough to improve plant growth of Calopogonium mucunoides Desv because plants can still adapt and grow well on latosols. Plants grown on tailings provide the best response is G (AMF+ Humic Acid + Rhizobium), although the rate of growth is not as good as plants grown in latosols.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui terjadi interaksi antara perlakuan jarak tanam dan dosis bio urin pada pemotongan ketiga serta, bagaimana pertumbuhan rumput dan hasil hijauan rumput Panicum maximum pada pemotongan ketiga.Percobaan ini, dirancang dengan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) faktorial, dua faktor dengan tiga ulangan. Dosis pupuk bio urin yaitu 0, 3.750 l ha-1, 7.500 l ha-1 dan 11.250 l ha-1 adalah faktor pertama, sedangkan jarak tanam 10 cm x 20 cm, 20 cm x 20 cm, 40 cm x 20 cm adalah faktor kedua. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa interaksi jarak tanam dan dosis bio urin berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap pertumbuhan rumput Panicum maximum pada variabel tinggi tanaman dan jumlah anakan. Jarak tanam dan dosis pupuk bio urin berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap hasil rumput Panicum maximum pada variabel berat kering stabel, daun, batang, bunga, nisbah daun batang dan berat kering total hijauan. Hasil berat kering hijauan yang paling baik pada jarak tanam J1 (10 cm x 20 cm) dengan dosis bio urin D2 (7.500 l ha-1) pada pemotongan ketiga. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah Terjadi interaksi antara jarak tanam dengan dosis bio urin terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil rumput Panicum maximum pada pemotongan ketiga dengan hasil paling baik pada jarak tanam J1 dengan dosis bio urin D2 dengan total hasil hijauan 7,90 ton ha-1 pada pemotongan ketiga. Abstract

The crops and forage have multifunction as typical nutrients of forage and also the ecosystem component to protect environment preservation, besides for the beauty of landscape, sanitary, cosmetic for livestock and also humans.  Human knowledge concerning on crop and forage benefits have been changing commodity into a more valuable economic for market access. Crops and forage as commodities need to be produced and developed. In addition, they should also be supported by forage seed industry and innovation that could raise possitive values. The research and development was carried out to achieve information related to production technology, positive value of innovation on commodity development, efficient use of product and market information control that need to be supported in order to strengthen both positions of commodities in business.

Abstract

The purpose of this experiment was to investigate herbage production and nutritive value of C. ternatea harvested at 60, 75 and 90 days after planting. The legume was planted in eighteen of 3 × 3 m2 plots a t 40 × 20 cm2. Forage was harvested at 60, 75 and 90 days after planting as treatmens. Variables measured included forage production, nutrient content and in vitro dry matter and organic matter digestibility. Herbage production was not significantly different (P>0.05) when harvested at different stages of growth. Leaf : stem ratio, however, declined (P<0.05) with advancing growth stage. Forage quality in terms of crude protein content was comparable (P>0.05) among different harvest time. Meanwhile the energetic value as shown by in vitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD) was significantly higher (P<0.05) when C. ternatea was harvested 60 days compared to 75 and 90 days after planting. It can be concluded that for calf supplement, C. ternatea is preferably harvested at 60 d after planting. Key words : Clitoria ternatea, IVOMD, energy, calf supplement

Abstract

Leucaena KX2 termasuk tanaman pakan ternak leguminosa pohon serbaguna dan toleran terhadap serangan hama kutu loncat. Pengembangan tanaman ini untuk budidaya ataupun untuk tujuan konservasi masih belum optimal karena terbatasnya bibit. Teknik kultur jaringan merupakan alternatif teknologi yang mampu menyediakan bibit secara massal, seragam dan relatif cepat. Tahap yang harus dilakukan dalam perbanyakan bibit melalui kultur jaringan adalah multiplikasi tunas yang menjadi kunci keberhasilan teknik perbanyakan ini. Penelitian dilakukan di laboratorium kultur jaringan BB-Biogen dan Ciawi untuk induksi tunas dan multiplikasi tunas. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua tahap (1) induksi tunas (2) multiplikasi tunas secara invitro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media MS dan WPM + BA 0,5 mg/lt untuk induksi tunas lebih baik dibanding pada media MS (kontrol). Kemudian multiplikasi tunas diperoleh pada media MS + BA 0,5 mg/lt + TDZ 0,03 mg/lt dengan jumlah tunas rata-rata 4,0 tunas dan jumlah daun 7 helai lebih tinggi dibanding pada media MS + BA 0,05 +TDZ 0,01 mg/lt maupun penambahan TDZ 0,05 mg/lt rata-rata 4,2 tunas dengan 6 daun. Penggunaan media MS untuk induksi dan multiplikasi tunas diperoleh tunas lebih rendah dibanding pada media WPM

Abstract

The food flavor manufacture waste (called Sipramin) have a great potential to used as liquid organic fertilizer due to the nutrition contents that needed by plants. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the effect of sipramin as liquid organic fertilizer on soil condition, re-growth, and herbage productivity of Indigofera sp. For ruminants. This experiment used factorial completely randomized design; the first factor was fertilizer dosages (0, 10, 20 and 40%) and the second factor was fertilization times (30 and 15 days before harvested [dbh]). The observed variables were soil chemical and biological characteristic, re-growth and forage production, and nutritive value of Indigofera sp. for ruminants. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance. The result showed that the soil nitrogen, number of phosphate resolvability bacteria and Rhizobium sp. were significantly different (P<0.05) on 40% fertilizer dosage than the other treatments. The phosphate resolvability bacteria and available phosphate (P available) of 15 dbh were higher than 30 dbh. Sipramin fertilizer of 40% dosage improved C-organic content and carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio value of soil, and significantly (P<0.01) increased forage production (leaf and steam). The leaf and steam ratio of 15 dbh were higher than 30 dbh. There were significantly different (P<0.01) on number of root nodule on 40% dosage than others. The addition of 40% sipramin at 15 dbh fertilization time showed the best result to chemical and biological soil characteristic, re-growth, and productivity of Indigofera sp.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine invitro digestibility, volattyle fatty acid (VFA) and ammonia (NH3) of corn straw silage with different storage periode. The experiments use a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and each treatment was repeated five times, so there are 20 experimental units. The fourth treatments are W1 = storage time of 14 days, W2 = storage time of 21 days, W3 = storage time of 28 days, and W4 = storage time of 35 days. The parameters observed in this study in-vitro digestibility including dry matter and organic matter digestibility, VFA, and NH3. Results of the experiment showed that dry matter digestibility showed significant differences, otherwise organic matter digestibility, VFA, and NH3 were not significantly different, and there was a tendency to decrease the value of dry matter and organic matter digestibility, VFA, and NH3 with longer duration of storage of corn straw silage. It can be concluded that dry matter, organic matter digestibility VFA, and NH3, are not significant different. Keywords: corn straw, silage, storage periode, invitro digestibility, VFA, NH3

Abstract

Production, quality and availability of forage one of which is determined by soil fertility and soil health. The use of chemical fertilizers (inorganic) in a period of time is one of the causes of land degradation (Kartini, 2007), application of organic fertilizers is the right step in maintaining soil fertility and soil health, and reduce the negative impact of the use of inorganic fertilizers. The study aimed to evaluate the response of regrowth and production of several species of grass to organic fertilizer conducted in a greenhouse using a completely randomized design split plot pattern 3 x 4 with three replications. The first factor (main plot / main plot) is a type of grass is Panicum maximum var. trichoglume (R1), Setaria splendida (R2), and Pennisetum purpureum (R3); The second factor (sub-plot / subplot) is a type of organic fertilizer that is without fertilizer (P0), manure (P1), compost (P2), and vermicompost (P3). The results showed that there was no interaction effect between type of grass with the type of organic fertilizer on the regrowth and production of grass Panicum maximum var. trichoglume, Setaria splendida, and Pennisetum purpureum. Treatment types of grass significant (P <0.05) on all observed variables, while the treatment of organic fertilizers only significant (P <0.05) in the variable number of tillers, number of leaves, stem dry weight, total dry weight of forage and leaf area per pot. Based on the results of this study concluded that there was no interaction effect between type of grass with organic fertilizer. The three types of grass have different productivity, highest growth in grass with vermicompost fertilizer and highest production in grass with compost fertilizer.Key words: Organic fertilizers, panicum grass, Setaria grass, elephant grass

Abstract

Peranan ternak sapi sebagai sumber pangan berupa daging bagi masyarakat. Permasalahannya populasi ternak sapi di Sulawesi Utara cenderung mengalami penurunan. Lambatnya pertumbuhan populasi ternak sapi ditentukan oleh faktor eksternal diantaranya pakan. Berdasarkan pemikiran tersebut maka telah dilakukan pengkajian tentang introduksi hijauan makanan ternak sapi di Minahasa Selatan. Dasar pemikiran bahwa ternak sapi merupakan komoditas andalan sehingga pemerintah perlu mengupayakan kebijakan berkaitan dengan ketersediaan hijauan pakan ternak secara kontinyu. Hijauan Makanan Ternak (forages) merupakan bahan makanan atau pakan utama bagi kehidupan ternak serta merupakan dasar dalam usaha pengembangan peternakan. Untuk meningkatkan produktivitas ternak, salah satu faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan adalah penyediaan pakan sepanjang tahun baik kualitas dan kuantitas yang cukup. Dalam merespon kebijakan pemerintah maka di Minahasa Selatan telah dilakukan pengembangan hijauan makanan ternak sapi. Kesimpulannya, introduksi hijauan makanan ternak sangat bermanfaat bagi petani peternak dalam pengembangan ternak sapi. Berdasarkan introduksi hijauan maka perlu pendampingan bagi petani peternak untuk manajemen hijauan.
