The population of study was University of Muhammadiyah Lampung, especially General lesson in Islamic Education. And there were thirty students as sample. The data of collecting method used documentation and test. The analysis data used mean of average. The students’ mastery of vocabularies has improved after PPP method was given. It was supported by the significant different result of the standard score that has been taken from the English teacher, mean was lower 59.5 than the last score in action research, mean was 72.5. The following suggestions are offered. First, the use of a PPP Method should be maintained frequently and recommended to the English teacher, especially to teach children around 7-10 in order to attract their motivation in learning English to be more interested. Second, a teacher should be clever in creating a contusive situation; try to apply other teaching strategies so that the class becomes alive. Hopefully, there would be further studies on teaching English using PPP Method.

Abstract

Abstract Referring to the latest curriculum, School-Based Curriculum, every English textbook should provide genres based on the level of literacy of each grade. On this paper, I analyzed English textbooks published by Erlangga ?óÔé¼ÔÇ£ English on Sky (EOS), and by Pakar Raya -- Let?óÔé¼Ôäós Talk. This paper focuses on how are the reading passages of the textbooks compatible with ?óÔé¼?ôStandard Isi?óÔé¼?Ø?. Coinciding with the statement of the problems, the objectives of this paper are to describe the generic structures of the texts, the types of text, linguistic features, social purposes, and then their compatibility to ?óÔé¼?ôStandar Isi?óÔé¼?Ø. There are some crucial problems found such; the types of text provided in EOS were Descriptive (80%) and Procedure (20%), whereas in Let?óÔé¼Ôäós Talk were Descriptive (57.2%) and Procedure (42.8%). Looking at the percentage of both text types, I found a crucial problem in EOS on some texts and in applying simple continuous tense in descriptive text. To sum up the result, I conclude that Let?óÔé¼Ôäós Talk is more compatible than EOS. Abstract

This study investigated the curiosity of how an eminent senior high teacher handled the communication in EFL classroom when he has problems in expressing ideas during the learning process where English is unlikely to be spoken than Javanese. It examined two repair strategies; repetition and self-initiated repair since these two are prominent features of daily communication mostly in the setting of English as a foreign language. It was a classroom discourse analysis study which used a descriptive qualitative approach. Numbers used in the form of percentage to support the findings. The participant of this study was an eminent teacher of a private senior high in Semarang. The learning session was video recorded then was carefully transcribed. Then, the repair strategies of the teacher’s talk were analyzed through the study. The findings revealed that self-initiated repair was used less frequently than repetition. There were 45 out of 210 utterances done for repetition (13.81%) and 16 out of 210 utterances done for self-initiated (7.61%). It was also found the combination of those two repair strategies in one utterance. The findings indicate that the effort of the teacher to build English speaking classroom atmosphere is very high even though the students were lack of motivation in speaking English. Yet, the teacher shows the repair strategy mostly in the beginning of the learning session, but he finally made it through the rest of the session. The findings may inspire those of many other English teachers, especially in Indonesia, in giving positive contribution in building EFL classroom.
