Abstract

Ethnobotany is the science of interaction both directly and indirectly that explores the relationship between humans, plants, and the environment including the use of plants by the community in everyday life. Ethnobotany board is a study of the use of plants or plants as materials for building. Plants used as building materials are generally in the form of tree habitus. Parts that can be utilized as building raw materials are the leaves and stems. This study aims to determine and identify the variety of plant species that can be useful as ethnobotany of boards or building materials in Kadu Beureum Village, Padarincang District, Serang Regency, Banten. Based on the results of interviews and field observations conducted in Kadu Beureum Village, there are 7 types of plants that can be used as ethnobotany boards, Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Teak (Tectona grandis), Lame / Pulai (Alstonia scholaris L.), Durian (Durio sp.), Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.), Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris), and Reeds (Imperata cylindrica L). The data collection methods used are primary data, while the data analysis used is descriptive and qualitative analysis.

Abstract

This study analyzes the application of the 7P marketing strategy mix to palm sugar products in Turu Adae Village, Ponre Sub-district, Bone Regency. Palm sugar, produced from palm tree sap, is a traditional product with great potential but faces challenges in marketing. This study aims to analyze the components of the marketing mix, namely product, price, place, promotion, people, process, and physical evidence, and their impact on product competitiveness. The research method involved observation, interviews, and a literature study involving the entire population of palm sugar farmers involved in production. The results showed that although Batok palm sugar products still maintain traditional methods without modern packaging, these products excel in terms of authenticity and quality. Although batok palm sugar products maintain traditional methods without modern packaging, there are opportunities for improvement through packaging innovation, expansion of distribution channels, and more effective promotion both offline and online. In addition, attention to efficient production processes and improved human resource skills can increase product competitiveness. With proper implementation of the 7P marketing mix, palm sugar businesses in Turu Adae Village have the potential to grow and compete in a wider market.

Abstract

The change in the status of forest areas in Maros Regency to Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park (TN Babul) has resulted in the loss of access for the community to the land they manage. The community of Labuaja Village, which has invested in land management by planting trees and managing forests, can no longer benefit from their hard work after the area was designated as part of the Babul National Park. This research aims to analyze the conflict between the community and the managers of Babul National Park regarding the utilization of forest land, as well as to explore fair compensation mechanisms based on the community's investment value. By using the approach of Forest Economic Rent and Rehabilitation Cost, this study calculates the compensation value of land invested by the community for planting and maintaining trees. The results indicate that there is significant potential for tree stands from land managed by the community, and the compensation value offered could be a solution to address the conflicts that arise. Recommendations for community investment-based compensation are expected to serve as a foundation for sustainable and fair policies, while also preserving the environment and the well-being of local communities.

Abstract

The community candlenut forest in South Sulawesi is a community forest that was developed independently by the community. The hazelnut forest managed by the community in Maros Regency has been carried out since 1926. Farmers have managed and utilized candlenut plants from generation to generation as gardens that are physically equivalent to forests. The people's candlenut forest in Maros Regency has provided benefits both directly and indirectly. in the management of natural resources, community candlenut forest management involving community groups consisting of men and women allows for issues that arise as a result of differences based on gender. This study aims to analyze the roles of men and women in harvesting people's candlenut forests. The research was carried out in Barugae Village, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province in February-November 2022 with the process of collecting field data through observation, in-depth interviews, and FGD. The data obtained were then tabulated and processed and analyzed using gender analysis and descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that the division of roles between men and women in the management of the people's candlenut forest is different. Men do work that uses physical strength and is culturally identical to men's work, such as burning as a method of clearing land, making simple beds, clearing weeds, and planting and harvesting during the main harvest stage. Women who are attached to themselves with jobs related to the domestic sector not only take on the role of preparing for consumption, but also do the same work that is done by men, such as seeding, harvesting at the stages of subsequent harvests and makkalice, and drying and peeling candlenut seeds.

This study aims to analyze the management system and the impact of social forestry on the community members of Forest Village Community Institution (LMDH) Wono Asri, at Forest Management Unit (KPH) Kediri. The descriptive statistical analysis based on public perception is used as the analysis method. A sample of 61 respondents was selected using the Slovin formula. Forest management included land preparation (100.00%), tillage (traditional system 95.08%), planting (100.00%, maintenance (weeding 100.00%, fertilizing 95.08%, pest and disease control 96.72%), harvesting (100.00%), and marketing (100.00%). Economic impact: farmer household income sources increased by 57.48%. Social impacts: changes in the use of forest products, decreased utilization, and development of resource use due to limited resources, increased community participation (95.08%), public perception of institutions (54.10%) and new jobs (100.00%). Environmental impacts: forest has been dominated by agroforestry plants (100.00%), low biodiversity (54.10%), environmental services that do not change much (60.66%), low potential disturbances and threats (70.49%), the existence of mitigation practices by the community due to the high number of natural disasters (49.18%). Farmers whom members of LMDH Wono Asri only sell their harvests, so there needs to improve the community's economy through processing of forest products.
