Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of students' musical creativity and the value of character education through performing arts activities at SMA Negeri 1 Kedungwuni. This study uses a qualitative method. The data were collected by using observation, interview, and document study techniques. The data analysis procedures used data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The validity of the data used is triangulation, data sources, and theory. The results showed that the process of musical creativity in performing arts activities at SMA Negeri 1 Kedungwuni was carried out in 4 stages. In the first stage, namely preparation, students chose songs and determined what musical arrangements that matched to the theme determined by the teacher. In the second stage, namely incubation, students determined the solution to the problem of music, drama, and dance collaboration arrangements to the teacher through discussion. In the third stage, students determined the musical instruments used, arranged arrangements, and practiced. The last stage was verification of the work of musical creativity which was carried out through the pre-general rehearsal and general rehearsal. Character education values that were formed during the preparation process and performing arts activities are: (1) the value of discipline, (2) the value of creative, (3) the value of cooperation, and (4) the value of responsibility.

Abstract

Adat Ubud Village as one of the villages in Ubud District, Gianyar Regency, Bali Province, historically it has been known as the center of natural and cultural tourism in Bali. Particularly in the development of cultural tourism, it has become a source of the village income as well as between generations in community members. The cultural tourism in this matter is in the form of barong ket dance performances that are performed in various characters and staged at various stages spread across the area of Ubud. This study aims to examine the problem of how the process of cultivating the barong ket dance to the younger generation in preserving and developing traditional arts so that it becomes a source of income that has economic value. The strategy used in analyzing and examining this research problem uses an enculturation approach. The research results show that; 1) The enculturation of the Barong ket dance that has developed in Ubud was carried out by inheriting a dance style that has been created by its elders. 2) style that has been inherited then developed again through the process of enculturation to young generations. 3) the result of the consistent enculturation process could have implications for the existence of the art of barong ket dance as well as an attraction for tourists who were visiting to Ubud area.

Abstract

Bamboo flute music is a typical traditional music of Timor Tengah Utara (TTU). It was one of the most favourable traditional arts and shown at various events, such as religious events, local government events even as a welcoming music for the country guests. As the time goes by, the existence of bamboo flute music currently has been declined and it was because of various factors, one of it was the social and cultural changes of the community which influenced the development of bamboo flute music. The method used in this research was analytical qualitative method. The data collection techniques used observation, interview, and document study. The technique of data validity used sources triangulation. The data analysis in this research used social changes theory. Based on the results of this research, it can be found that the development of bamboo flute music is influenced by the changes in cultural elements which are the knowledge system that evolves over the time; the livelihood system that the majority of the community back then was as farmers and now turn into office employees; the technology system that is the current rapid development and advanced technology information which impacts on the technology effectiveness and eficiency towards the community life; as well as the art elements that continue to develop according to the needs and trend. This research expands the perspetive of the readers about the existence and influene of cultural elements changes towards the development of bamboo flute music in Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regency.

Abstract

Humanist education is related to Ki Hajar Dewantara who is referred to as the Father of education. It prioritizes the humanitarian aspect by maximizing the potential of individuals, it is free, open and unbound. Qaryah Thayyibah Learning Community (KBQT) is a learning community that uses the learning method of student freedom in determining interest.This study was conducted to analyze and describe the application of humanist education concepts to music learning in the Qoryah Thayyibah Learning Community.The method used was a qualitative analytical method. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation techniques, interviews and document studies. Data analysis techniques were carried out with learning theory and humanist educational concepts.The results of the research on the application of humanist education concepts in music education in KBQT were conducted in terms of students as curriculum makers, discussion model learning, Gelar Karya (GK), and Final Project.This research can expand the reader's perspective on the importance of the learning process in KBQT, as it teaches the compactness among students, students and mentors, and sense of responsibility of students to determine their plans, and to be worked on.

Abstract

The study has the aim of analyzing critically related to the implementation of the independent learning concept in cultural arts learning. The data collection techniques used in the study were observation, interviews, and document studies. The study used triangulation techniques to maintain the reliability of the data, through data triangulation, source triangulation, and method triangulation. The data analysis technique used in the study is text analysis in choreography context and analysis context in interactive form by following steps namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, formulating conclusions/ verification. The theoretical formula used in this study is Fisk's theory of the concept of independent learning. The results showed that Babalu Dance learning at SMP Negeri 3 Batang implemented the online freedom of learning concept by utilizing social media platforms namely Whatsapp and Zoom Meeting. The process of cultural arts learning online was reflected in; students could learn at different times and places, student learning was more individual, students had choices in determining how they learnt, the teachers applied project-based learning, the learning was more directed to field experiences, students were more interactive in processing data, teachers could make assessments variously, student involvement, and even though it was online the teacher continued to monitor students in every activity that was carried out.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain and reveal how the process of using musical elements is applied as an effort to foster creativity of the students in Foundation of Music class at Sekolah Musik Indonesia Semarang. This research used an interdisciplinary approach with qualitative analytical methods. The research design used a case study and the focus of the research was the Foundation of Music class at Sekolah Musik Indonesia Semarang. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation studies. Validation of data in this study used triangulation techniques and data analysis techniques used interactive models. The results of this study show that the first process of using musical elements in classroom learning of Foundation of Music is able to introduce elements of music (rhythm and melody) using the sequence/order of learning set at the Foundation of Music class and also by using play-based learning method and learning media in the form of musical instruments, puzzles music books, and paper notation used during the process learning takes place. Second, the activities carried out during the learning process lead to a creative process through the teacher's openness and its positive impact on the students (creative personality), integration of methods and diversity of learning activities (creative process), and verbal motivation (creativity press).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the shift of function in the context of art preservation and development on Brendung art perfomance in Sarwodadi community, Pemalang Regency. The research method used qualitative data and the research used a case study design. This research used both primary and secondary data sources and the data collection techniques used observation, interview, and document studies. The data analysis technique used interactive data analysis. Brendung is an art in Sarwodadi community, Pemalang and it is part of a performance, which shows a Brendung doll dance under the influence of spirits. The form of its performances have some changes in terms of a form of preservation effort, but it does not abandon the tradition or typical parts of Brendung art. Some preservation efforts of Brendung Art are done in order to maintain the existence of Brendung art itself so that it can still exist and is accepted by the society. The changes in the art are there but they do not abandon the old tradition. The shift of Brendung art performance in Sarwodadi community is as the effort so that the art will survive and does not disappear by the development of the era. It changes but it does not abandon the old tradition or the typical parts of Brendung art. Some preservation efforts of Brendung Art are done in order to maintain the existence of Brendung art itself so that it can still exist and is accepted by the society. The changes in the art are there but they do not abandon the old tradition. Brendung art was initially an art performance that functioned as a means of ritual and related to society and their belief, however, as the time goes by, it changes into an entertainment platform and aesthetic presence for its community.

Abstract

Coastal eco-culture- based learning of ornamental variety on is still very rarely to be carried out. This study aims to describe the visual form of decorative images for grade VII-A SMPN 18 Semarang, as a result of coastal eco-culture-based virtual creative learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method. The collecting data was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data transfer techniques was conducted through triangulation techniques. The data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Coastal eco-culture-based decorative images created by grade VII-A students of SMPN 18 Semarang were influenced by the natural and cultural aspects of the coastal areas typical of Semarang City. The form of decorative images namely Tugu Muda, Blenduk Church, Warak Ngendok, Blekok Srondol, marine life, typical coastal sea waves, there were even food motifs namely spring rolls. The colors used look bright which is identical to the typical color of the coast. In writing this article, the author identifies the visual elements of various shapes and colors decorated by students of grade VII-A SMPN 18 Semarang. Details of problems developed by adapting theory visual elements by Marvin Bartel, namely the analysis of visual elements of shapes and colors of motifs that are often used and emerged so that it became the initial identity of decorative motifs. So that the visualization resulting conclusions are in the form of basic shapes and colors that characterize decorative images of students in grade VII-A SMPN 18 Semarang, as a result of coastal eco-culture-based virtual creative learning. Furthermore, it can be concluded that the coastal eco-culture-based learning of decoration has positive implications in order to build creative capacity and cultural awareness of students.

Abstract

Senjang is a performing art that still exists and is widely used as an extracurricular teaching material in several educational institutions, both formal and non-formal in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The existence of Senjang enculturation process has not yet been implemented in accordance with the scientific disciplines possessed by several professional and competent coaches in the field of Senjang. This demanded the students to be able to search for several rehearsal sources of Senjang by themselves using social media such as Youtube as the reference. The phenomenon above is interesting to study and analyze, because it relates to the students’ output produced in order to inherite Senjang art which has become the cultural identity of the community in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra itself. The objective of this research was to describe and analyze the enculturation of Senjang performance at Putri Sak Ayu Studio, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. This study used a qualitative method. The research data were obtained from observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results showed that the coach at Putri Sak Ayu Studio is a senior Senjang artist who has professional competence in training Senjang art. In addition, the enculturation of Senjang performance at Putri Sak Ayu Studio is taught through three stages: (1) The Warm-up Stage (Breathing and Vocal Exercise), (2) The Core Exercise (includes the learning materials of Senjang verses properly and correctly), and (3) The Assignment Stage

Abstract

The realization of Riau Province as the center of Malay economy and culture in religious, physically and spiritually prosperous community in Southeast Asia in 2020 is a quotation from the vision and missions of Riau Provincial Government. This vision and missions were sparked by the reasons that there is Malay culture that is growing very rapidly in Riau Province which has become the identity and tradition of the local community. The Malay culture which is still loved, maintained, and continuously developed, is the music of Baoguang which is found at Jaya Village, Central Kuantan District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted with the aim of discussing the Form, Meaning, and Function in the Context of Art Education in Baoguang music performance. The method used was descriptive qualitative research method, it means that to obtain the data, in-depth observation and interviews were done. The results of the study show as follows; 1) The presentation form of Baoguang music is presented with rhythm, harmony, timbre, tempo, dynamics as well as traditional musical instruments such as gong 1 and gong 2 which are harmoniously intertwined each other; 2) The meaning in performance of Baoguang music always involves symbols that are rich in meanings, the existence of symbols attempt to present the part of Malay culture; 3) The function of Baoguang music performance as an accompaniment for the ceremony is to carry out the traditional ceremonies send the “pancar” children (marriage), batobo and circumcision.
