Abstract

Increasing Irrigation Water Quality Using Pistia Plant (Pistia stratiotes L.)and Azolla Plant (Azolla sp.) in Subak Sembung, Peguyangan, DenpasarThe research aimed to determine the quality of Subak Sembung’s irrigation water, investigate the influence of Pistia and Azolla plant as well as identifying which of the plant is more effective in improving the quality of the irrigation water. The research consisted of several stages including; collecting secondary data followed by conducting water purification experiment using Pistia and Azolla plant. The sample of the water was analyzed in Analytic Laboratory and MIPA Faculty Laboratory of Udayana University.The result of the study showed that before Subak Sembung’s irrigation water was given treatments has been contaminated by Cadmium (Cd) while two other parameters – Boron (B) and Arsen (As) cannot be found in the water. The increase was shown in the level of TSS, pH, BOD and COD while the decrease was shown in the level of TDS, Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr) and total coli form. Pisita plant is more capable in reducing the level of Chromium metal (Cr) compared to Azolla plant while Azolla plant is better at reducing the level of Cadmium metal (Cd). However, a further research on heavy metal absorption using Pistia and Azolla plant is necessary.

Abstract

Differences of Greening Planting Ages Against Soil Quality Changes in Pelaga Village, Petang District, BadungLand as an environmental component must be maintained, protected and avoided from adverse impacts and must be maintained and enhanced. This study aims to determine the effect of different age of reforestation plants on soil quality changes in Pelaga Village, Petang District, Badung Regency. The method used in this research is observation method with direct observation in field and laboratory analysis. The research was conducted in accordance with several stages, namely the planning and preparation of the initial survey of reforestation land that aims to determine the point of sampling in accordance with the age of reforestation, soil sampling, analysis of physical properties, chemistry, and biology in the laboratory and analysis of research data. The results showed that there was no change in soil quality on land with different plantation age 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, compared with control (land with grass vegetation) and decreased soil quality was observed on land with planting age 4 years and 5 years (after harvest).

Abstract

Estimation of Rice Production Using Landsat 8 Satellite in Tabanan District Agricultural sector is currently a very important sector considering that everyhuman being needs food to survive and as a source of energy to carry out dailyactivities. Production estimation that are accurate and timely can provide informationfor planners and decision-makers to formulate appropriate policies when conditionsare inadequate or overstocked. The technology that can be used is remote sensing usingthe Landsat 8 satellite. The greenness level parameters of plants (Vegetation Index)obtained through satellite image analysis can be used to estimate rice production. Theresearch area is located in Tabanan Regency. Estimation of rice production is done bythe equation y = 2.0442e1.8787x, where x is the NDVI value from the Landsat 8 imageand y is the result of rice production. The estimation results using Landsat 8 are oneseason production in tons/ha. The accuracy test is done by paired t-test and correlationanalysis. Paired t-test shows that there are no significant differences between riceproduction estimation from BP3K and rice production estimation using Landsat 8.Correlation analysis results show that there is a linear relationship between statisticalresults and estimation results with R2value 0.9682 with the equation y = 1.0099x -0.0794, where y and x are Landsat 8 estimates in tons/ha and BP3K data respectively,with a Standard Error (SE) of 0.1984.

Abstract

ABSTRACT In Vitro Study of the effectiveness of Essential Oil Extracted from Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) to Aspergillus Sp. Study on determining of the effectivenes of essential oil extracted from lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) in order to suppressing the growth of fruit rot fungi (Asoergillus sp.) and also to determining the minimum concentration that able to inhibit colony growth and spore formation of the Aspergillus sp. in vitro, was conducted in Laboratory of Plant Diseases from June into November 2012. The result showed that the fungi were isolated from rot fruit mango has similarities with the fungi Aspergillus sp. The characteristic of Aspergillus has cepted hyphae, growth appear colonies, conidiophores uncepted and stand up, the tip of conidiophore is swollen and produce vesicle form, the surface of vesicle is covered by fialid that usually simple and colored or colorless, fialid produced conidia which were form green, brown or black chain. Essential oil of lemongrass have an antifungal activity and it was found effective to inhibit growth of the fruit rot fungi Aspergillus sp. on PDA. The inhibition zone of the lemongrass essential oil against Aspergillus sp. were 85 mm which is include a very strong category. Effective concentration of essential oil of lemongrass to inhibit the growth of Aspergillus sp. are 0,6% - 1%. The persentase of inhibition in this concentration reached to 100%. On the other hand, the control treatment, 0,2%, and 0,4% concentration were 0%, 0%, and 28,53%, respectively. Minimum concentration which is capable to inhibit the formation of spores and growth of fungi colonies were 0,2% and 0,3% concentration. The compounds suspected as antifungal against Aspergillus sp. were ?-citral (geraniol) and ?-citral (neral). Keywords: Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), essential oil, antifungi, Aspergillus sp.

Abstract

Evaluation of Land Suitability for Robusta Coffee Plant (Coffea canephora) in Pajahan Village, Pupuan Sub-district, Tabanan Regency Robusta coffee (Coffea canephora) is one of the agricultural commodities that have a profitable prospect. Pupuan sub-district is concentrated of Robusta coffee in Bali Province. Pajahan Village is one of the 14 villages located in Pupuan sub-district which also built Robusta coffee. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) of Pupuan Sub-district, coffee production in Pajahan Village has continued to decline since 2012 until 2016. Evaluation of Land Suitability is a way to know the limiting factor in the research area. Land evaluation conducted by matching method between land characteristic / quality with growth requirement of plant evaluated. The research was conducted in Pajahan Village, Pupuan Subdistrict and Laboratory of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture - Udayana University. The research was conducted from October to December 2017. The results showed that the actual land suitability classes on the IILckK land unit is S3na2, IIILckK is S3na2.eh1 and IVLckK is Neh1. Fertilization, addition of organic matter, terracing and proper land cover can increase the class of land suitability to be appropriate marginal (S3) to very appropriate (S1). The limiting factor of dry season and moisture is a major limiting factor that can not be repaired.

Abstract

Diseases Symptoms Observation at 12 Species of Citrus Plants This study was conducted to observe symptoms that showed by citrus plantswhich already tested by PCR carry CVPDr DNA Fragment. CVPDr is resistance geneto prevent plant from CVPD diseases. Based on observations in the field showed thatfive from twelve species showed the symptoms even already carry the gene. Five ofthem are Citrus reticulata Selayer Buleleng, Citrus nobilis Buleleng, Citrus nobilisPecatu, Citrus nobilis Tabanan, dan Citrus reticulata Keprok Gianyar. Mutationanalysis and homology analysis should be done after this observation to know whythis gene is not functional to prevent CVPD diseases.

Abstract

Induction of Strawberry callus (Fragaria sp.) Through Application of 2,4 dichlorophenoxy acetic acid in vitroThe study aims to know the concentration of 2,4 Dichlorophenoxy acetic acid for the growth of callus the strawberries. This study was conducted at laboratorium of tissue culture of agriculture faculty, Udayana on January until May 2015. The compiled using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five repetition and five level of treatment combination that is (D0,D1,D2,D3,D4,D5). If in the result found significant effect then followed up with duncan test 5%. Data that can not be analyzed tabulated and discussed descriptively.The result shows that treatment of D2 give best growth that it showed at percentage of highest deflection (54,765), fastest swelling (12,70 hst), highest swelling procentage (49,34%) and lowest browning procentage (43,05%). Beside that eksplan able to produce callus at D2 treatment with combination of MS media and by giving of 2,4 D 1 ppm.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Application Types of Organic Fertilizer for Rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Organic Farming Systems Rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) is a plant food as an energy source that is generally consumed by the people of Indonesia. Nearly half the world's population, especially in Asia dependent of the rice plant. Once the importance of rice that could lead to crop failures widespread social unrest. One of the efforts to increase the productivity of rice plants is to replenish nutrient needs through fertilization. This experiment aims to find the best combination between solid organic fertilizer with liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of rice plants. The results showed that the combination treatment of solid organic fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer does not significantly affect plant growth variables, but the real influence the outcome of the rice plant. The addition of liquid organic fertilizer in rice planting organic system able to increase the yield of dry grain yields of 4.4% - 17.4%. Results of dry grain harvests and grain yield obtained at the highest oven dry fertilizer additions AA-01 (5.07 tonnes / ha dry grain harvest, and 3.94 tonnes / ha oven dried grain). Suggestions can be thought of, in organic rice farming system suggested combining solid fertilizer with liquid fertilizer, so that the growth and yield can be improved, and the need to study solid organic fertilizers and other liquid organic fertilizer in order to obtain higher yields Keyword: organic fertilizer, growth and yields, organic farming systems

Abstract

Effect Organic Fertilizer and Chemical Fertilizer (NPK) Of Increased Soybean Production Edamame On Land Subgroup Vertik Epiaquepts On Experimental Garden Udayana University, Denpasar Edamame have important role in providing nutritious food for the world's population because of the high content of amino acids, every one gram of edamame amino acids contains 340 mg isoleucine, 480 mg leucine, 400 mg lysine, 310 phenylalanine, 200 mg tyrosine, 80 mg methionine, 110 mg cystine, 250 mg threonine, 90 mg tryptophan dan 330 mg valine. This research about influence of organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizers to increase edamame production conducted in Research Field Faculty of Agriculture and Soil Science and Environmental Laboratories Faculty of Agriculture at Udayana University from August 2016 to November 2016. The research was conducted with a randomized block design (RBD). The measured parameters are soil parameters that are pH, organic C, N total, P and K provided and plants parameters that are plant height, number of branches, number of contains pods, percentage of contains pods, production contains pods per plot, the estimated production of contains pods per hectare and fresh stover weight. The results showed that adding of a combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers affects some growing crops and soil parameters were observed. The combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers are best used with a combination of 150 kg ha-1 Fertilizer NPK + 10 ton ha-1 petroganic (P3) the estimated productions are 22,3 ton fresh pods per hectare, while the lowest is in control (without fertilizer) (P0) that 10,70 ton per hectare.
